Hello,
My in-laws and in-law family don't like me much, that's life, I can live with it and I can't make sense of it. I have 2 lovely children. I'm now finished with having babies. OK, every time a new cousin is born they love sniping at me about the fact I had caesareans. First emergency one for pre-eclampsia/failed induction and second one elective. There's all the sly digs etc. So much emphasis is made on the successful birth being a natural birth. Anyone else experience this? It's hard partly because all these years later (my husband's siblings have only just started their families), being more experienced you realise how much more there is to parenting than which route the baby took on that one day. Anyone else experiencing this? Has the world gone mad, what is the big deal about natural birth?

How ignorant and rude. I have never met anyone in my life who had thought less of someone who had a C-section although I know a few friends who are disappointed that they had one.
I had two natural births because it just worked out that way. My 4 nieces and nephews have all been born by C-section and my sister and sister-in-law have no angst and neither does anyone else. Their kids are just perfect and they are brilliant parents

I hate this. I had 2 c sections one emergency after a 40 hour labour and one planned which was amazing! I've inly had one person make snipey comments but she's so unimportant I just laugh. Also this whole, you're not a proper mum. Well I bleed for weeks after and I had milk in my boobs. Must have meant I gave birth then.... Some people just love to judge about ridiculous things

Never had any comments on my emcs, except my family are thankful these procedures exist and that DS and I are both alive! Your inlaws sound horrible and I suspect if it wasn't the csec then they'd find something else to be nasty about.

I might just ask "what are you saying Mil/fil/sil? Do you think that we should have had a natural delivery for DC1?". If they say yes you can point out the likely consequences.
