Ghost in house

zodiackelly · 11/03/2016 14:29

Okay so I've been feeling like there's something in my house lately, get the feeling I'm being watched and mentioned this to a friend who goes ghost hunting, who told me to try and communicate with it. I've got this week off work and home alone, so thought it was the best time to try as don't want to scare anyone.

I called out to it and a few moments later the delivery driver knocks on the door, pure coincidence or is this thing using real events to respond to me? Oh also I woke up this morning and tap was running?? I'm a light sleeper so would know if it was dh or dd in middle of the night. I feel quite uncomfortable sat here Blush am I being paranoid?

How you know it wasnt? I didnt believe it till i saw it. All i can say is its nothing to fear. I have worked in the nhs in some of the old hospitals.

NewYearNewToads · 11/03/2016 17:42

So what makes you so sure it was a ghost?

NewYearNewToads · 11/03/2016 17:43

And I'm 99.9% sure you didn't see a ghost because I'm 99.9% sure they don't exist.

There is a rational explanation for everything.

DontBuyANewMumCashmere · 11/03/2016 17:50

There is nothing to fear from them.

I completely agree. Absolutely nothing to fear. Because they don't exist.

Petal02 · 11/03/2016 17:52

Despite making a flippant comment about cat flaps up thread (sorry .....) the whole subject of ghosts fascinates me. I'm an open minded sceptic, who would love to experience something to convince me. I know too many sensible,, rational people who've seen things they can't explain, to dismiss it as nonsense.

expatinscotland · 11/03/2016 17:53

Hmm, there's not much evidence to suggest it's a ghost.

WaitrosePigeon · 11/03/2016 17:53

Haven't you got anything better to do than make threads up for attention?

timemaychangeme · 11/03/2016 17:56

The main time weird things like running taps on arriving home etc, happen, is when I have PMT. I've left the bathroom tap running for hours while I've gone out. Found the jar of coffee in the fridge, the bag of pasta in the microwave etc. That doesn't explain the feeling of being watched. The time I had that was in a rental house and I was very depressed and unhappy at the time, so wonder if it was my state of mind.

The time I tried to communicate with someone, was after my Mum died. I was so desperate to hear her, know she was ok. Even though I don't believe in spirits, I just wanted to try. For nights I left a tape in a recorder running and every day played it back and there was nothing. I left a notebook and a pen on the table in case, spirits could make marks. Nothing. I loved her so much and vice versa, I'm sure if she had been able to show me she was still around somewhere, she would have tried.

NewYearNewToads · 11/03/2016 17:57

Just because they can't explain it doesn't mean it was a ghost.

That said, even though I don't believe in ghosts, I still love a good woo thread Blush

CrystalMcPistol · 11/03/2016 18:00

I love the 'I was hiking in the Peruvian mountains a found a photo of myself aged 3 nailed to a tree' threads.

londonrach · 11/03/2016 18:08

Ok until you see one you wont believe. I certainly didnt and wouldnt have. Thats fine your choice. Im not going to argue about it. I sit on the fence on most things but on this i know what i saw. There are things that can not be explained? Just remember theres nothing to fear from them! Im a long standing poster who has never name changed so not a troll and mnhq know exactly who i am. 😇

Seeyounearertime · 11/03/2016 18:22

I remember being in the hospital for a series of tests, nothing serious but they left me with a bit of an upset stomach. This one day i had rushed myself to the toilet about 20 times only for it to be nothing, pain in the arse. the next time i decided not to bother. Suddenly I filled the bed with diarrhoea and was embarrassed beyond belief. In my delirious state i decided to get rid of the evidence, gathered it all into a ball with the sheet and threw it out of a window. Just as i threw it a drunk guys was walking by and the sheets landed on him. He started yelling, swearing, and swinging his arms wildly, which left the shitty sheets in a tangled pile at his feet. As the drunk stood there staring down at the sheets, a security guard who had watched the whole incident walked up and asked, "What the hell was that all about?" Still staring down, the drunk replied: "I don't know, but I think I just beat the shit out of a ghost!"

(and that is the best ghost joke i know, ahh thank you)

Trollicking · 11/03/2016 18:31

Of course ghosts don't exsist or Gods or fairies or any other woo stuff

If they did don't you think there would be some proper evidence. Or do you think ghosts only do things that a 'mysterious'

WhoWants2Know · 11/03/2016 18:34

OP, just a thought regarding your cat flap-

As another poster mentioned, it could be wind. It could quite possibly also be a cat! They're opportunistic buggers and I've known many to come through my cat flap when I didn't have a cat. (Actually, the only way I found out was that I shut the flap to keep out the draft one night and woke up to find all my pot plants tipped onto the floor! I was terribly spooked, but later in the day I sat down at my computer and noticed a pair of green eyes staring at me from next to the desk. )

MartinaJ · 11/03/2016 18:40

Yep, the cat flap can definitely act up in windy weather. Had plenty of it this winter and it was driving me crazy.

lorelei9 · 11/03/2016 18:40

DontBuyANewMumCashmere - speaking of strange feelings, I get a very strong sense you have something new in your wardrobe, probably given as a gift, that you could pass to me Grin

PelvicFloorClenchReminder · 11/03/2016 18:49

A delivery driver knocked on my door the other day. I did consider all kinds of ghost related scenarios to explain this before eventually putting it down to having ordered a delivery.

Imagine how frustrating it must be for ghosts - "Cooee! It's me, Kathleen! I was in a care home when you bought my house. I just wanted to see how you've decorated, and I'd love to really scare the shit out of you, but I can't think of any way a ghost could effectively get themself noticed... Ooh, hang on, I'll just stand behind your shoulder when you hold the baby, that's the most obvious way to make my presence known. You might not notice me if I just stood in front of you or sat next to you on the sofa. No, much better just to rattle the cat flap, or possess the Hermes man."

lorelei9 · 11/03/2016 19:35

Dontbuy, darn it, my psychic thing normally works better than that Grin

Gobbolino6 · 11/03/2016 19:41

Does it do requests? I've been waiting for Yodel all day.

lemmein · 11/03/2016 19:50

I live in a rented house which is owned by my neighbours. A few years ago my neighbours were away working and I was about to get in my car when a bloke walked up behind me. He said to me 'take a look of this - do you know who this is?!' - it was a picture of two young children, one clearly the woman next door. He smiled and said 'it's me and my sister D'. It was weird, the way he approached me, the way he spoke - like he knew me but I'd never seen him before in my life and was a bit freaked out by his over friendliness. I laughed at how my neighbour hadn't changed and went on my way.

Anyway, I emailed my neighbour and said I'd spoke to her brother and he'd showed me a photo of them both. She was shocked by this because her only brother had died years previous Shock

Hmm....I don't believe in ghosts at all but I've never been able to explain that one. Not really sure why her ghosty brother would be hanging round on my driveway with a photo either though? Saying that, the house had originally been owned by her family and she, and presumably her brother, had grown up in my house.

Strange too cos my lovely, healthy neighbour found she had terminal cancer on her return home and died not long after. Weird!

BigQueenBee · 11/03/2016 19:57

Can you imagine what Victorian people would have thought if someone had suggested that in the future we would have mobile cordless phones that connected us to an worldwide library and allowed us to see images and suchlike.
They'd think we were bonkers.

BirthdayBetty · 11/03/2016 20:22

I believe in the paranormal and have had experiences myself. Of course people who haven't had any experiences don't believe in it.
