Okay so I've been feeling like there's something in my house lately, get the feeling I'm being watched and mentioned this to a friend who goes ghost hunting, who told me to try and communicate with it. I've got this week off work and home alone, so thought it was the best time to try as don't want to scare anyone.

I called out to it and a few moments later the delivery driver knocks on the door, pure coincidence or is this thing using real events to respond to me? Oh also I woke up this morning and tap was running?? I'm a light sleeper so would know if it was dh or dd in middle of the night. I feel quite uncomfortable sat here am I being paranoid?

How could it have got the delivery man outside the door seconds after you said hello. Unless you think it somehow teleported him there with a delivery it produced from the ether then how could it be involved? He would have knocked then anyway.

Jean my grandfather got in contact, we were talking about him out loud and heard a noise in the kitchen, where we found his photograph (which was previously taped inside of a cupboard for 15 years and never moved) on the kitchen counter.

I was thinking about my nephew's birthday a few months ago and the song Daniel started playing on my play list. He's very much alive and I'd expect him to pick the bloody phone up if he wanted to contact me!

Very often, when I wake up in the night, I hear a bang coming from downstairs. I hear footsteps and when I go to the loo, I feel like there is something watching me from the darkness. I even find dead bodies of animals around the house.

P.S. I also have two cats and a cat flap. Wonder if this is a coincidence.

OP- I don't want to rubbish your beliefs and hurt your feelings, but any example of ghostly goings on can always be explained logically.

I don't know if ghosts are real, but I do believe that some people have experiences which are real to them and which seem like ghosts.
I'm not sure I understand why you would want to contact a "spirit" which is currently not annoying you, but if getting your house blessed would make you feel better then I don't see a problem with that. clearly not a bell, book and candle job, but if a prayer and some holy water makes you feel better than go for it.

I often know that someone is just outside my house before they knock. It's not a ghost doing an impression of a doorbell, though - I'm just picking up on some odd sound or shadow produced by the very real delivery guy at an unconscious level.

Taps will work themselves on from a trickle if the washer is going. And even the lightest sleeper sometimes has deeper periods of sleep where they are dead to the world (including my mother who swears she only ever catnaps )

Far more plausible that a photo stuck with ancient tape/bluetack/whatever falling off the door and slipping through a crack

I'm not normally woo but found myself in a similar situation wondering bout a ghost a few years back. Do not attempt communication - if it 'replies', or if you think it's replied (see Derren Brown's explanations of tricks the mind plays) then you will freak out. It's not nice to believe there is a ghostly presence in the house.

FWIW in my case I asked a very woo friend to do an exorcism and he suggested my mind was playing tricks. I must admit 1% of my mind still thinks there might have been a ghost, so I said (in my head) to it that it needn't worry, I was looking after the place, and wanted it to be a peaceful home, and hoped the ghost was able to relax and be at peace. That is the only communication I recommend, with a large dose of "it's almost certainly tricks of the mind" too!

I don't know, maybe (to the ghost) it's like one of those dreams where you try to run but can barely move? So they'd love to really chat to someone or tell them something very important but it takes all their concentrated effort just to nudge a vase a little?
