Just that really. It could get quite comical really: Who got the worst gift?! It could also stop the usual situation of umpteen threads bitching about the lack of diamonds flowers etc.

One thread to rule them all...

I don't really give a shit about flowers, chocolates, or cards. all I wanted was a little lie in this morning as I can count the amount I've had since DS was born two years ago on one hand. I'm on my knees with exhaustion and was so looking forward to not having to leap out of bed and tend to two kids as soon as I open my eyes.

I didn't get one of course. Instead I was up by about 7 with the kids whilst DP slept just like every other morning. So I passive aggressively hoovered the landing outside of the bedroom door at 8am Wink

2yo DS has been in a very snuggly mood today. I've had non stop kisses and cuddles all morning which is lovely, more so because he doesn't know it's Mother's Day so I'm being kissed and cuddled 'just because'

Givenchy handbag from a cat... Wankers!

PaulAnkaTheDog · 06/03/2016 10:55

I want a fucking Givenchy bag! The closest thing I have to a pet is a frog who resides in the pond. Clearly hopping along to a boutique was just too much like hard work for him. Bastard frog. Angry

Alice, sod hoovering outside the room - I'd be in there hoovering the bed.

NeedACleverNN · 06/03/2016 10:59

Well so far so good!

I've had a card from the children, one from dh (he likes doing. I don't expect it). A bunch of pink roses and lilies. A little lamb teddy.

I'm now in bed watching a Harry Potter marathon whilst dh cooks roast sausages with onion and trimmings. yummy

PaulAnkaTheDog · 06/03/2016 11:04

Omg, I want to do a HP marathon. Best idea ever.

It's good Grin

Though you forget how young they look in the beginning

YouTheCat · 06/03/2016 11:10

We had a Lord of the Rings day at half term. Grin

Might have a Hobbit day over Easter whilst mainlining chocolate.

Savagebeauty · 06/03/2016 11:12

Thanks goingtobeawesome!

Vomit central here too. DS2 has projectiles it all over his bed, floor and the chest of drawers opposite at about 1am. After much cleaning up, he eventually settled in our bed, then sat up demanding a drink of water which he then promptly threw up everywhere. My plans to do no housework today have been well and truly scuppered. On a plus note, I don't think it's a virus - no temp/rash or whatever, most likely teething and the vast quantities of snot that accompany it. He seems to be swallowing a lot and I'm hoping to god that's what made him hurl. I feel like hurling just thinking about it!

At least we had no plans to go anywhere really - another family that doesn't do occasions like this and Valentine's Day as a meal out. I'm popping to tesco (woohoo!) to get some stuff for picky tea as a large quantity of chocolate. I know DH has a card, he never forgets, and I've had cards the DC made at nursery. Probably no present but since we are totally skint that's fine by me. Lots of cuddles, some crap telly and a bit peace and quiet when DH goes to see his DM for an hour, with DS1 (hoping to engineer a nap for poorly DS2 at the same time!) and I'm happy.

HooseRice · 06/03/2016 11:18

Someone on my FB is moaning because their DH isn't romantic and hasn't given her anything. WTF ... she's had her cards from her actual kids.

Deletetheheat · 06/03/2016 11:21

Good god Hoose!

Some people need to chill the heck out, avoid Facebook, be happy and grateful for their kids and stop being so feckin' demanding and materialistic!

LondonKiwiMummy · 06/03/2016 11:26

I got lovely champagne glasses to match my existing set. It was then disclosed that unfortunately some of my existing set got smashed when DH was washing up after our last party. Eh, can't complain!

TaliZorahVasNormandy · 06/03/2016 11:26

Hoose, you should comment, "Ermmm, isnt that what Valentines day is for?"

TaliZorahVasNormandy · 06/03/2016 11:27

London, at least he replaced them and admitted what he done.

Goingtobeawesome · 06/03/2016 11:27

Shit. My washer just broke. It's months old. Grrrrr. Nothing to do with MD I just realised Hmm.

iPaid · 06/03/2016 11:28

We're all either mothers or we've had one, and it's a massively complex relationship that can never be summed up with a card or present, no matter what the circumstances

Thanks for those wise words, sadsister4

And congratulations to mightywease on the adoption if your LO Flowers

PaulAnkaTheDog · 06/03/2016 11:33

Surely someone has commented something like 'Stop being a dick' Hoose?!

OP posts:
HooseRice · 06/03/2016 11:38

Nope, she's getting sympathetic replies. It's a FB group rather than a friend I hasten to add. None of my mates are like that.

Thattimeofyearagain · 06/03/2016 11:49

I've been up since 4am cleaning up dog vomit/ comforting newly neutered dog who would only settle on my lap. He weighs 6 stone and is a drama llama. But Dd has given me a fantastic card and present, I'm off to see my lovely mum soon and ds is coming round later. I shall spend most of the day reclining on the clutch binge watching House on Netflix Grin

TaliZorahVasNormandy · 06/03/2016 11:51

Ugh, fucking sheeple. I dont think I could have resisted telling to get a fucking grip.

If I had a partner, the only thing I'd expect him to do would be to take DD shopping as she likes to get me things. I wouldnt expect him to get me anything.

mrsrupertpenryjones · 06/03/2016 11:53

I'm pissed off I got a lovely big box of Ferrero Roche all for me. The children wanted to try them, I let them as I was 100% certain the nuts would be a good deterrent. They weren't, they went on to have another two each.

My special chocolates are now going to have to be shared in future.

I also now feel slightly sick as to avoid giving them more I ate the lot.

Hippymama · 06/03/2016 12:53

My husband is working all day (left before we woke up, won't be back until 9pm) and has the car so we can't really go anywhere today. The kids are fighting and the house is chilly because our oil ran out and isn't being delivered until tomorrow. I've had to clear up cat vomit and a partially eaten mouse :( My own mam is 300 miles away as is the rest of my family. I do have flowers, but I bought them myself and they came from the reduced bit in the supermarket!!

However, DS1 made me a beautiful card at preschool, we have lots of logs and the fire is lit and I've just polished off a piece of homemade chocolate banana cake made by DS1 (I.e. mostly me!) :) So, by many people's standards I am having a crappy Mother's Day, but I have my kids here and we are going to watch some films and snuggle up on the sofa so it's all good as far as I'm concerned :)
