Just that really. It could get quite comical really: Who got the worst gift?! It could also stop the usual situation of umpteen threads bitching about the lack of diamonds flowers etc.

One thread to rule them all...

I have nothing. Somehow I am expected to take my child out to buy my own mothers day stuff Hmm

My own family could've taken out DC to get a card but nope. Instead I have them telling me I would have something if I had made an effort and its not fair on DC for me to deprive them of celebrating today. I'm not sure exactly what effort I need to make on a day that's supposed to be all about me not done by me but whatevs.

MummySparkle · 06/03/2016 10:07

Gah! DS(3) woke me up saying 'mummy, I want to come in mummy and daddy's bed with you' aww I thought, morning cuddles. No sooner did he see me he shouted 'I want breakfast!!' So we traipsed downstairs.

DD and DS made cards for me at nursery. DP has organised absolutely nothing for them and gone out for the day. His thoughts are 'well they're not old enough to to do it themselves, so I'll have to wait until they are. I did get to go back to go back to bed and have a lie in, but only after argueing with DP to let me go back to bed.

PovertyPain · 06/03/2016 10:09

Can I give a serious piece of advice here?

If you find your tomcat spraying the kitchen wall, LEAVE IT! On no account try to lift it to put it out! I just made that mistake. The cat fucking bastard wanking arsehole continued, covering the sofa, foot stool and ME! I need a shower! Happy fucking Mother's Day. Sob! Sad

Oysterbabe · 06/03/2016 10:11

You need to chop his nads off.

MrsHathaway · 06/03/2016 10:12

I have just been presented with a "get wal soon" card from the 4yo (folded A4).

"To mummy I howp you are beter soom. To DC2 love from xxx xx xx xxx xxx"

The funniest bit is that he is one of three s in his class so he's signed it the equivalent of "James H" in case I might mix him up with James R or James E Grin

formerbabe · 06/03/2016 10:16

So far I've...

Done the hoovering
Put a load of washing on
Emptied and loaded the dishwasher
Cleaned the fridge
Cleaned the kitchen surfaces and sink
Put the clean washing away
Made the dcs breakfast

But fear not...I do have something to look forward to...

The weekly food shop

So blessed and lucky Confused

Cooroo · 06/03/2016 10:17

Nothing so far, but visited DD at uni yesterday and we had lunch and cake and sang together! Hoping for a mention in Facebook... But last year she wrote me the loveliest card ever so I'm still enjoying that. My first year without a mother to phone...

StarlingMurmuration · 06/03/2016 10:17

I got a card from nursery which DS "made", and a nice card bought by DP which DS "wrote" in. Also a thoughtful gift, and I think we're going out for lunch later. And I got a lie in til 7.30! DS is only 15 months so really it's all from DP. We took his mum out for lunch yesterday and gave her a nice present and some lovely flowers. No complaints from me.

DMum died a few years ago, so Mothers Day was quite hard til I had DS.

Sorry for anyone having a shit day Flowers

stealthkick · 06/03/2016 10:22

Sorry for those of you missing mothers and children through bereavement or estrangement or infertility. There is just my mum left in my side of the tree; all my biological relatives bar a cousin are no longer here. Fathers Day is my awful day - he died when I was on a school trip.

Today has been perfect - woke up to a couple of home made cards - two photos of pissed off looking children in the middle of a hand drawn bunch of flowers. Idea over execution on that one. Plus a fortune teller of doom - ds hasn't got the hang of them and when you choose a flap it reads 'you will be eaten by a giant fish' or 'you will be the best at bowling but everyone else is rubbish'Confused

I've also insisted (3 boys) we visit mil this afternoon and take the huge present I made dh buy. This is part love of mil and part investment for the future.

PovertyPain · 06/03/2016 10:27

You need to chop his nads off. Oyster

He doesn't have any! Angry
Though I did giggle at the thought of walking over to him with a large knife and chopping his nads off! Grin
The dirty wee shit. love him really.

ssd · 06/03/2016 10:28

I'm working later

ds2 just gave me a cuddle for mothers day, that's enough for me

MariaV0nTrapp · 06/03/2016 10:29

I was up at 6 with Dd 7m and put a Fb status about waiting for my breakfast in bed hoping that one of the kids would see it. we both fell back to sleep and I got woke up at half 8. Dh had seen my status and told the kids, they decided to bring me coco pops, a banana, a selection of biscuits, cup of coffee and a banana milkshake Grin I'm on a diet but never mind. I got some daffs, a special mum metal flower ornament, cards and a soup maker. Baby has gone back to sleep again. I think she's coming down with something. Probably my chest infection. Sad

SueTrinder · 06/03/2016 10:31

My Mother's Day started with me up early doing yoga and being interrupted by DS on the stairs saying 'Daddy I need you' so I went to him and he asked for a drink of water then vomited over the kitchen floor. Poor love is feeling very sorry for himself, on the plus side I'm getting lots of cuddles.

The DDs are great at doing things for Mother's Day and DH learnt his lesson after forgetting I was a Mother my first Mother's Day after DD1 was born. So DD1 and I went to buy a very nice piece of jewellery for me. We I then made a big fuss about Father's Day for DH. He's now very good at getting me flowers Grin.

BestIsWest · 06/03/2016 10:32

My own DM is away on holiday so have given DF cards and present to hide in the suitcase. DD is working and DS still in bed but have instructed them not to spend more than a fiver each. Hoping for chocolates.

Will go out somewhere for a walk and have a family meal but it is all over shadowed a bit by the fact it's MIL's funeral tomorrow which I am dreading for a whole host of reasons.

MariaV0nTrapp · 06/03/2016 10:32

No rest for the wicked though. I can hear ww3 brewing already Sad

TaliZorahVasNormandy · 06/03/2016 10:35

I'm still sat in bed after eating a bag of twirl bites that DD got for me, while admiring the huge card and necklace

I have to see my own DM at some point with her card and the £20 bunch of flower. Woman is lucky that she is worth it.

Icklepickle101 · 06/03/2016 10:37

DH forgot he was 'meant to organise' a present and card which was a shame as it was my first Mother's Day but my 7 week old ds smiling at me is the best present ever Grin

Flowers to all those having a hard day

unimaginativename13 · 06/03/2016 10:38

My DH announced he was doing all the housework today (in a tone that I never do any Hmm)

Then had a go at me that is not charged the Dyson so is now watching Match of the Day.

MrsSchadenfreude · 06/03/2016 10:39

I've had nothing. I've been asked by DH to sit on the new sofa in case the cat pisses on it.

16Sneezes · 06/03/2016 10:41

I got cards and tea in bed. DH is making a roast.

We were going to go for a walk and a glass of bubbly in the pub, but I've got tonsillitis...so am in bed feeling absolutely rotten, and may be making a trip to the OOH clinic later Sad.

Hey ho. Happy Mothers day all Flowers

PaulAnkaTheDog · 06/03/2016 10:41

I have just seen on instagram someone get a Givenchy bag for mother's day from their cat. Undecided on whether to laugh or cry...

LuisSuarezTeeth · 06/03/2016 10:49

CuttedUpPear my heart goes out to you and your daughter. I pray it will be peaceful.

16Sneezes · 06/03/2016 10:50

Grin @ Givenchy handbag from a cat

TaliZorahVasNormandy · 06/03/2016 10:52

Paul, that woman is in danger of being a crazy cat lady AND a bag lady. That is tragic.

YouTheCat · 06/03/2016 10:53

I got cards and the Hotel Chocolat gin collection. Grin

I told dd I wasn't bothered about a pressie but she has come up trumps.

Visiting ds in a few hours as he lives in a residential placement. He will probably have been shopping.

I really am happy with just a card though.

Hope everyone else's MDs are okay too.
