Just had to ditch another pair of trousers as they had holes on the inside seams where my fat thighs rub together!! Is there anything I can do to avoid this (always happens even with jeans). Can fat thighs ever really change and how? I swim and walk a lot but that doesn't seem to make a difference.

I do have fat thighs, I'm fat in general atm. Even when I was thin though, my turned in knees meant thigh rub. I really do have ridiculous looking legs.

doughnutslikefannys · 05/03/2016 22:15

Yes, my thighs look like tapioca in a string bag Blush

Just last week my mighty thighs hulked out of my lovely ASOS ankle grazer jeans and they no longer stock that style/colour combination Sad

elQuintoConyo · 05/03/2016 22:20

Yep, big thighs over here too. I reinforce the inside of jeans as soon as I find some that fit (tried on 52 pairs in the space of two days last week!). Straight-leg better than skinnies - even the name 'skinny' jeans makes me feel fatter, inferior and fraudulent at even trying them on AngrySad

BikeRunSki · 05/03/2016 22:24

I also have "powerful" thighs. Combined with "athletic" calfs, about 3/4 of my weight is below the waist.

megletthesecond · 05/03/2016 22:31

I'm on the lowest healthy BMI and my thighs are still athletic. Buying trousers is a nightmare, I have no hips and a slim waist and hefty thighs.

howbad if I was born with hips I'd have a big thigh gap.

LaChatte · 05/03/2016 22:31

If it makes you feel any better I have skinny thighs (proper thigh gap when naked), and I still wear jeans out at the same place as you lot.

nocakes · 05/03/2016 22:34

I can remember having big flabby thighs literally from about 6 years old. Have been the bane of my life, holidays ruined, trousers ruined as you describe. General weight loss helps, but the big game changer for me has been body pump classes (at least twice a week), the first few months are hellish and haphazard as you get used to the weights you need for different tracks. But if you could possibly afford to join a gym where they run body pump, consider it. Has changed my life!

SimonLeBonOnAndOn · 05/03/2016 22:36

I'm bottom heavy.
Big thighs and big calves, more muscle than fat, but still get a rub.

bloom7 · 05/03/2016 22:38

I have just given up on trying to find jeans at the moment because I have big hips and thighs but skinny lower legs. To make it worse my calves are short compared to my thighs so skinny jeans go really baggy at the knees.

I am living in H&M jersey dresses ad tights. I am a size 8 top and a 10/12 bottom.

2anddone · 05/03/2016 22:41

I have thunder thighs! They make my jeans get worn out where they rub!! I am off to Florida for the first time in May and am genuinely scared of the chub rub chaffing that I know will occur!!

OneTiredMama · 05/03/2016 22:43

Yep, thunder thighs here too! Inside seams wearing away really annoys me. I'm overweight at the minute but even when I was very thin I had big thighs (and thick calves). My legs have always looked like they belong to a pro rugby player.

timemaychangeme · 05/03/2016 23:23

I have fat upper arms and thighs and skinny little forearms/wrists and calves/ankles. i look like I have two different people's limbs mixed together. Very odd indeed. So the skinniness of the lower limbs make the fatness of the tops look even more pronounced. Even when I'm at my thinnest/fittest, the weirdness is still very, errr weird! But my jeans don't wear out even though my thighs meet. I put this down to the superior build of the Oasis skinny jeans that I live in.

IfAtFirstUDontSucceed · 05/03/2016 23:27

Yep, I've always been told I have my dads rugby player-esque lower half Hmm
My brother on the other hand has our mother's long slender legs!

I've always been about two sizes larger than my top half - small boobs, small waist, narrow hips but enormous arse and chunky thighs! Makes buying nice jeans and trousers a right pain! Those that do fit I end up having to keep hoiking up!

Vintage45 · 05/03/2016 23:29

If it makes you feel any better, I'd rather have thick thighs. Im what is known as an "apple" with the round middle bit and sticks for legs and arms Grin I also have big boobs so whilst I'm a 14 my boobs and tummy make me look on the large side.

Katarzyna79 · 05/03/2016 23:30

I cant tell OP I look like a round blob in all directions right now (heavily pregnant) I nearly rolled off this big bed of mine when I miscalculated my speed and agility getting the foot cream from my husbands bedside.

prepregnancy if I put on weight anywhere its usually my thighs and backside but its well hidden I think....

I do have very strong looking legs though friends, gp midwives always ask me what ive done to tone them up, a lot of housework I think and maybe genetics, rarely exercise. even now I'm a whale my legs look the same except that huge varicose vein, ive never seen that before midwife promised me it would go after birth hope so its a blight on my legs :(

HopeClearwater · 05/03/2016 23:31

I'm sure I've read threads on here (maybe Style & Beauty) where people have said how they've dealt with thigh rub, especially in hot weather.

NisekoWhistler · 05/03/2016 23:33

Always gave, always will. I have lipodema -Google it. But sadly nothing I can do about it. Lucky me also has lymphodema too Sad

Fatmomma99 · 05/03/2016 23:35

Is it irritating if I post to say my BMI is 26, but my thighs are fine?

My bloody (wine-filled) belly, though... that's another matter.

Katarzyna79 · 05/03/2016 23:40

niseko I saw some woman with it on tv the other day, it didn't shock me nothing shocks me anymore, since ive seen what my mum went through, and recently a dead baby, to me there is always someone worse off in life, I try and stay positive.

sad she seemed so negative about getting a long term partner due to it, she seemed like a lovely person, I'm sure someone decent enough will see past that. we all have flaws niseko.

WanderingNotLost · 06/03/2016 00:01

Another one here! It's a nightmare. I had the combined issue of chubby thighs and narrow hips, so even if I'm smaller my thighs chafe. I have to take a mini bottle of talc everywhere with me when I go on holiday Sad

Katarzyna79 · 06/03/2016 00:13

well vintage least you can say you're a "red delicious" theyre the best apples ever!

Vintage45 · 06/03/2016 00:20

Grin at Wandering.

It's healthier the other way round though. I carry fat dangerously, there aren't any organs in the thighs.

judgelionelnutmeg · 06/03/2016 07:01

Yes I have very fat thighs and awful chub rub. I've worn out countless trousers and jeans over the years including a gorgeously well cut pair of boyfriend jeans from Monsoon which only lasted about 9 months due to the friction.

I very rarely wear skirts or dresses due to this so need to invest in some of those comfort shorts for summer this year

MrsMook · 06/03/2016 07:21

I've got muscular thighs and glutes and buy trousers to fit over my thighs and hips then yoink them in with a belt to fit my waist. They seem to resist changing size no matter what the rest of my body is up to.

allegretto · 06/03/2016 07:26

Thanks fellow chubby-thighsters! I have to say that mine are definitely not toned and muscly though so I suppose I could work on that but I think they will still rub.
