I'm looking for somewhere in London where I can book a proper massage as a birthday present for my 6yo daughter.

Somewhere "naice".

Can anyone suggest anywhere?

Sorry.

Wow sick and sad to sexualise kids at every opportunity. Massage is gorgeous. It should be compulsory by law. And watch the crime and depression rates drop dramatically.

Helmetbymidnight · 03/03/2016 20:35

Like in Thailand Grin

EweAreHere · 03/03/2016 20:37

No. Just no.

Unless she's a world class gymnast or figure skater in the making and that's part of the regime, no. Just, no.

snowymountaintops · 03/03/2016 20:40

Why on earth not if it were a woman therapist doing it and the OP was with her daughter. God some of you are fecking bonkers.

I hate all this middle class competitiveness it's just so silly.

MyCatIsTryingToKillMe · 03/03/2016 20:42

I can't believe what a bunch of weirdos you're all being. I know my DS(8) would love something like that. I can't understand why people are getting so worked up about it and so judgemental - chavvy? Hmm

OP my chiropractor treats children and can do very gentle massage (has to with me due to over reactive muscles) so maybe someone like that if a beauty therapist can't.

Halftruth · 03/03/2016 20:44

Yes definately wierd

cosytoaster · 03/03/2016 20:49

How anyone can enjoy a massage is beyond me, if DirtyHarriet gets her way and it's made compulsory by law I'd prefer to serve time!

MistressMerryWeather · 03/03/2016 20:50

Why is it weird/odd/strange?

acasualobserver · 03/03/2016 20:51

Why is it weird/odd/strange?

I think some posters are conflating unusual with weird/odd/strange?

Maybe the massage is enjoyed because it is her mother giving her attention?

Not about being pampered as such like, say an adult going to a spa.

So OP I'd find time to give her a massage even if you think you're rubbish. Keep it special for you and her.

bluespiral · 03/03/2016 20:54

Massages for 6yos middle class? Hardly. This is one of the chavviest things I've ever heard of, sorry. Would she be getting her brows threaded afterwards?

Sparklingbrook · 03/03/2016 20:56

Can I be incarcerated too Dawn? Personal space and all that.

AppleSetsSail · 03/03/2016 20:56

Do you understand what a massage is?

bluespiral · 03/03/2016 20:58

Yes, I do understand what it is. It's an indulgent activity for adults who have the time and money to spend on it. Activities for children include drawing, jumping in puddles, playing with Lego. Not professional massages.

villainousbroodmare · 03/03/2016 20:59

I think it's a lovely idea. I'm sure she'd love it. Far more wholesome imo than glitter and hair crimping and strawberry lip gloss and all the stereotypical "treats" that small girls are expected to be into.

AdriftOnMemoryBliss · 03/03/2016 21:05

i think those of you thinking this is weird, unusual or wrong are saying much more about yourselves than anything else.

Massage actually serves a purpose, so what if its indulgent, she's asking as a TREAT... which is erm... indulgence!

MistressMerryWeather · 03/03/2016 21:06

My DSs never jumped in puddles. Sad

If you're no good at massages op there are lots of good training videos on YouTube

ethelb · 03/03/2016 21:10

A Turkish bath might.

At a v posh resort in turkey with a proper Turkish bath families were going in and children were being massaged in one part of it. They even had a child rate and information about which bits children could and couldn't do (ie go in sauna or icy plunge pool). They even specified they only used soap and oil on children vs incredibly expensive, potentially skin aggravating adult products.

I wonder if any in the UK do the same.

AdriftOnMemoryBliss · 03/03/2016 21:11

but I would feel VERY uncomfortable allowing this for a child.

Why? What do you think is going to happen?

tyaca · 03/03/2016 21:12

can we just stop using the word chavvy please ya sneery bunch o' vipers

BobbyGentry · 03/03/2016 21:15

A Spa package from a reputable hotel chain for the both of you could be fun...

Halftruth · 03/03/2016 21:16

I would be a bit worried about letting another adult touch my child like that.maybe you should practice and do it your self have a massage ,face pack ,movie, popcorn ,girls pampernight instead make it more personal more one on one time ...
