To think Madonna is being slightly out of order?

Probably going to get a flaming, but reading a news report this morning about the custody battle about Rocco, she doesn't seem to take her son's feelings into account at all. He is happy in school with his father, whereas she is on tour in various places around the world. The judge also condemned both Guy and Madonna for playing this out in public, when it could be resolved in private.

I want to know about Soup as well.

To the poster who said GR allows Rocco to take drugs. This may or may not be true. But don't forget that a year ago Madonna was on the Jonathan Ross show where she said it wasn't fair for her to ask her children not to take drugs as she had done so, but she only asked of them that they do so in moderation. She also only said she "wasn't very happy" about her 15 year old daughter smoking. You can google these for endless references.

I also think that for a teenager a mobile phone is very important; it is the way of reaching their friends and social media. Imagine being a 15 year boy who is taken all around the world, so has no structured school life, and away from his friends, and then having his only source of contact removed. I think it would be a far greater punishment than it would be to your normal 15 year old who would at least get to chat to his friends in school during the week.

squoosh yep, thats the way I see it. Ive no expectation that people share my views. Likewise I dont share yours.

I responded to your comment highlighting what Id said about Guy being seen as the perfect parent. Thats it, really

Anyway - general thread comment - Im reminded why I sometimes raise a brow when I see criticism of Daily Mail links. Or the other mums site deemed to be not as "intellectual" as this one. Please..

squoosh · 03/03/2016 12:04

Well that's settled then and on we trot with our differing views.

Shutthatdoor · 03/03/2016 12:05

This is a mainly female site

And...

So does that mean that we are supposed to blindly agree with everything women ever say or do, because they are women?

SoupDragon · 03/03/2016 12:27

FFS! I don't have ten sons. Of course I don't have ten sones! I would be bankrupt due to the size of the food bill for a start. It was a typo for TEEN.

I was imagining the lorry delivering cereal..

SoupDragon · 03/03/2016 12:33

Bacon. Cereal is too healthy. We have a field of pigs.

Disappointed.

I was picturing ten giant sons, grown big and strong on a diet of your famous flapjacks.

(You are the flapjack person aren't you?)

FuzzyOwl · 03/03/2016 12:33

Oh Soup Sad. Even though I knew you were going to say that, I still feel disappointed.

GooseberryRoolz · 03/03/2016 12:34

Someone around here must have ten sons.

SoupDragon · 03/03/2016 12:35

I know someone with five sons and even that seems a lot.

GooseberryRoolz · 03/03/2016 12:36

We've put the thought into how to feed them now. We could swap tips.

FuzzyOwl · 03/03/2016 12:38

Although if someone has ten sons, the odds must be quite high that they also have a number of daughters as well.

VertigoNun · 03/03/2016 12:41

Jimbob and Michelle Duggar have ten sons. Things didn't work out very well for them.

SpocksThirdEar · 03/03/2016 12:41

I have 5 sons. So far only 2 are teenagers. I might leave home when they're all teenagers. Who wants custody of me? Grin

I've been trying to work out how you could have 10 sons all in their teens, then I remembered watching daytime TV on mat leave before having DS1 and one of the live hospital programmes that were all the rage back in the 90's had a woman with her 3 year old, two year old twins and new born triplets. I just remember being Shock Shock Shock at the idea! So that woman will currently have six teenagers. Poor, poor woman.

Anyway, I came on the thread not to count numbers of children but mainly because something about Madonna makes me not like her and I was in a mean mood BUT I have a teenage son who, if I dared to take his mobile phone to make him do his homework, would be out of this house and up the hill to his (much laxer) fathers before I could say another word. Plus he'd probably have forcefully taken back his phone. So actually I feel quite sorry for her, going by the only 'fact' that everyone seems to agree on. Poor Madge as well.

How many children does she have by the way?

CrazyDuchess · 03/03/2016 13:08

lol @ soup..... also surprisingly disappointed.......

APlaceOnTheCouch · 03/03/2016 13:12

I feel quite sorry for her
So do I.

I think it's very common for children to play parents off against each other and the one who opts for the more lax attitude becomes more appealing. That doesn't mean they should be granted custody.

I haven't followed this closely at all but I've seen as many pics of Rocco with his Dad as I have of him with Madonna. I'd also like to think that if a mum posted on here saying her DS had ran away to his dad's because she'd confiscated his mobile phone that she'd get more support. Rather than excuses about how that meant she was too strict Hmm

I know MN isn't any kind of sisterhood but it's blatantly obvious that the press are having a field day with this story as a way to get at Madonna. it's a bit sad that MN has jumped on that bandwagon especially since the facts in the public domain seem similar to lots of other custody cases. At least it is playing out in the US courts because I'd hate this case to set a precedent for UK law.

Cocolepew · 03/03/2016 13:14

Tbf Madonna isn't helping by putting up photos and I miss you type posts on social media. Keep it private ffs.

caitlinohara · 03/03/2016 13:16

I hadn't heard about any of this. I try not to find out anything about Madonna's personal life because to me she is still this mighty superhuman figure who I idolised as a kid and when I discover that she has said or done something awful I have to try to justify it. Wish I hadn't clicked on this thread now! Am putting my hands over my ears now

MitzyLeFrouf · 03/03/2016 13:25

Social media has really shattered the illusion of celebdom. But I suppose with a star of Madonna's stature her 'people' are hardly going to say 'maybe you should step away from Instagram hon?'.

Unless they're very brave.
