Does anyone just want a day off work and a day off your kids?

I work term times. Great, it works amazingly round the children.

I love my job and I love my kids but on Monday I found myself willing an illness to come so I had a genuine excuse to have a day off work and the kids be at school. As if I would enjoy it if I were ill Confused.

Even tonight I'm busting for a day off.

My DH would happily take the kids off my hands for a few hours on a weekend. But I want a whole day. Selfish, I know!

DH works full time too, self employed so gets 4 days holiday a year (unpaid, when we go to Butlins which isn't exactly relaxing!)

So he too, deserves a day off no work no kids.

No family round us to give us this pleasure either. Even then, if they did, I'd like it totally alone and not even with DH. Blush. I know, meany.

I just want a DAY OFF!!

"I wonder if there is anyone who offers a leg-breaking service? Or similar. Whatever the least painful but slowest healing injury is"

I just love this Grin

Definitely a gap in the market. Let's go into business.

We can both work part time. You do leg breakings on Monday and Thursday, I'll do mild concussions for people who just need a couple of days to themselves on a Tuesday and Wednesday.

My child hasn't even arrived yet but this is one of the things I worry about! I've booked a term time only nursery (I'm a teacher) so will never have a moment of not being harassed by other people's children or my own ever again! I intend to spend the whole of the Easter holidays slobbing about as it will be my last chance for many years.

I'm at home (alone) with a stomach bug, heavy cold and conjunctivitis. I've never been happier x

TG for this thread, i thought i was the only one!

DH does majority of looking after DD, coz I work long hours. If I have to work late (maybe once a week or so), that's a day when I don't see DD at all. And I still want a week of no DD or DH so I can just potter about and switch off.

Don't get me wrong, DD is loads of fun but you do have to be "on" for a toddler and pay a lot of attention, and sometimes I just want to be...well, a lazy, greedy, drunken idiot. You know, like I was before DD came along!

I have booked a day off next week to do this. DS (2) still going to nursery. I am getting beyond excited, looking at TV listings, having huge debates when to lie in i.e. morning or afternoon siesta, what to watch on TV, have some eagerly stored Sky+ tv shows to watch while I tuck into an enormous plate of pasta I'll make for lunch. Beyond excited!!!

Oh dear, the friends I was meeting can't make it now but I think I can manage some shopping anyway. Wink

10 weeks holiday is loads, don't get why you can't just book a day off?

TickettyBoo · 03/03/2016 18:23

Oh I seeeeee sorry, doh. Long day lol.

I now work term time only too. Which is lovely. But I work full time and then have the kids all holidays. So yes, I feel your pain!

I've started booking the kids into a holiday club for one full day every school break. I even ask my mum to collect them and taken them out for tea so I get 8-8 child free :) I have got a spa day booked for my next one in Easter - cannot wait. Kindle at the ready!
