To think the stupid woman should have the fucking book thrown at her?

www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-wales-south-east-wales-35653240

this second article covers it a bit better and has photos, but they've been edited/blurred. they're not graphic, but a couple do show the horse laying in the road as they were taken before it was removed from the scene.

www.walesonline.co.uk/news/wales-news/horrific-aftermath-accident-saw-car-10953991

From what i can gather, the driver overtook the funeral procession and then pulled in hitting the horse so hard it went over the top of its harness mate, and she also smashed the front of the hearse.

The horse had to be put down at the scene.

What on earth is the matter with people that they would so something like this?

Driver couldn't even be bothered to go to court

Are you sure? In a more serious case of careless driving, as it sounds like with your friend, a driver will always be summonsed to court. If they don't turn up, the court will issue an arrest warrant.

This law has been in effect for nearly 30 years.

NoArmaniNoPunani · 28/02/2016 21:30

Why are people saying she was recently retired? Do people work in the police force until their 80's?

honeyroar · 28/02/2016 21:43

I can't imagine how terribly upsetting it must have been for the family with the relative in the hearse and who own the horses. My heart goes out to the horses, both the one that died and the, no doubt, traumatised survivor. I have horses myself and the pictures have been very upsetting.

However I am not baying for blood. The woman was an idiot driver. There are a lot of them about. I never take my horses on main roads for that reason and wouldn't have a horse in an area where I had to ride on busy roads. I'm sure that the driver will feel awful and remember it forever, the witch hunt isn't necessary! I don't feel anywhere near as angry towards her as I do someone that deliberately harms animals..

Themodern there has been an attempt at crowdfunding and similar, but Mark was very quick to point out that he had nothing to do with any of them and does NOT want to.

Themodernuriahheep · 01/03/2016 20:12

Fine. In that case, just sympathy.

Catsize · 01/03/2016 23:06

limited, he pleaded guilty via his solicitor, who made representations in court. My friend's husband was therefore deprived of the opportunity of glaring at the guy - who is a primary head.

Bluebellbarn · 25/02/2017 14:51

The owner of the horses gave an update on his Facebook page, it turns out that the driver of the car and her husband were both connected to South Wales/Gwent police force, and they are also involved with 'Cymdda driver training centre' which is run from their home address in Sarn.

Grilledaubergines · 25/02/2017 14:53

So awful for everyone. So unnecessary and traumatic.

Only an arsehole overtakes a hearse.

DesignedForLife · 25/02/2017 15:17

Has no one noticed this happened a year ago???

DesignedForLife · 25/02/2017 15:19

And I should point out, I used to live where this happened, and you'd be an idiot to try and overtake anything there. Very nasty bit of road.

DartmoorDoughnut · 25/02/2017 15:22

I saw the update on FB, essentially according to the funeral guy (sorry I forget his name) the police are protecting the woman driver as she and her husband/partner are police. Think he's taking it to the IPCC or whatever the police complaints people are called. Tbh I've heard a lot of bad things about the police in that area so I think he's probably justified!

PamplemousseRouge · 25/02/2017 15:24

Signed. Thanks OP.

FlurkenSchnit · 25/02/2017 15:37

The PC named in the Facebook update dealt with a head on collision I was involved in last summer and took over 6 weeks to take my statement. He also stressed that I shouldn't be too upset as no one was seriously hurt and the boy racer who hit us "was really sorry" & had apologised, not to us he hadn't!! There was a general feeling that he couldn't be bothered and that I'm afraid is true of the attitude of the police in general for this area.

DartmoorDoughnut · 25/02/2017 15:38

www.facebook.com/markevanshorsedrawncarriages/posts/1863063920645591 found the update!

Mynestisfullofempty · 25/02/2017 15:40

DesignedForLife "Has no one noticed this happened a year ago???"

Have you not noticed that this thread is a year old and was updated 2 posts before yours with more information?

AlpacaLypse · 25/02/2017 15:46

Thanks Dartmoor!

TitaniumSodiumBorate · 25/02/2017 15:49

Her and her husband are ex police officers.... Strange the police are not interested.

TitaniumSodiumBorate · 25/02/2017 15:50

The carriage driver has released all the details on Facebook after waiting for one year but still no proper investigation or charges

Scrumptiousbears · 25/02/2017 15:52

So fucking horrendous. What a cunt.

Short, sharp and to the point!

Scrumptiousbears · 25/02/2017 15:53

The police will always look after their own, don't expect any arrests over this.

This is quite frankly bollocks.
