DD 22months, breastfeeding is her absolute favourite activity. If anyone here has any tips to encourage gentle weaning for a milk not from a breast refuser who isn't great with solids I'd be delighted to hear them!

13m and 20m. Both naturally dwindled down.

Second time I RTW at 10m when he was still having frequent feeds. He refused all alternatives and made up for lost time when I was around. I went away for 4 days when he was 1. I was expecting less feeds when I made the arrangements! Fortunately I'd learned from first time that supply is quite resilient by that stage. I stopped when he'd dropped morning and bedtime feeds and got demanding over random day feeds.

20 months. We weaned because I'd been away overnight and it seemed like an easy time to do it as she'd happily gone down with a bottle - I wanted my body back by that point. I went back to work when she was 9 months so it's definitely possible to carry on even when you're not around during the day - I didn't express, my milk supply adjusted down to her needs.

I'm pregnant with DD2 now and I'm hoping to do the same this time.

Breakfast No! Surprisingly enough it's actually DD that channels Stewie in her day-to-day dealings.

8 months with my first and 10 months with my second.

Both times I gave up a couple of months after I went back to work, with my first I found out I was pregnant again and stopped then and my second started biting.

Funnily enough if I'd sought advice from beast feeding counsellors st the time I probably would have continued to feed mind for longer. It just seemed silly at the time to seek advice on continuing to feed a slightly older baby and I felt pressure from people around me to give up.

16 months. Went back to work when DS was 9 months. Expressed twice a day at work until 11 months when dropped to morning & night feeds than just nighttime from 14 months.
Stopped to start seriously loosing weight & gym classes etc. Made a bit of difference but not huge!

2.5 years.

I also felt a lot of pressure to stop. My mum thought DD would develop a boob obsession and turn into a lesbian if I continued to breast feed. She really did believe that. I told her that I had stopped at 18 months.

Four years and three months.
And this month her own breastfed dd is four years three months plus.
If I could get little hearts to twinkle all over the post, I would. Though perhaps these are more appropriate.

Well done, little one. You were an excellent baby and you are an excellent mother.

Six weeks each. I have immature breast tissue and simply do not produce much if any milk so both my sons have been reasmitted due to losing 15% of their birth weight and taking weeks to regain. Both also have CMPA so have had dairy free prescription formula.

First one about 3 months(11 years ago) second I'm still breastfeeding, she is 13 months. Have some plan when I would like to stop, but it really depends on her.

14 months and 26 months.

I didn't know anyone who'd done it for more than 6 months, but after a hellish start with ds, giving him some formula after 5 weeks to let my breasts heal, once it got easy I wanted to reap the benefit - then at 6 months it became a total doddle!

Dd was easy from the start to feed, but I got fed up of her waking me in the night.

Whilst you are no doubt proud of you DD's achievement that mirrors your own Time, extended BF is no marker of a good or rubbish parent.

I managed 3 years and am by all other measures completely lacking in the excellent mother stakes.

I know many mothers far and away better than I who could not manage to BF at all.

(Not to piss on your bonfire or owt, but for many of those who cannot feed it's a source of great unhappiness and feelings of inadequacy, a little empathy or sensitivity would not go amiss).

DC1 15 months. I was 6 months pregnant and she refused to feed, I suspect my milk was beginning to taste different or my supply was dropping.

DC2 2y10m. I was 3 months pregnant and according to DD2 my boobs didn't work any more, she was only having a feed at the weekend which wasn't enough to maintain my supply when pregnant.

DC3 currently 3y6m and counting. No plans to get pregnant again, he's only having a feed every few days so is very close to weaning completely I think but was in hospital recently and is asking for it more again.
