Playdate DCs haven't been picked up. Should I drop them off?

So a mum from my DCs school asked me to have her two DCs today as her two are the same age/in the same class as my two youngest.
The DCs have been here a couple of times before but usually I arrange this with their dad and he picks them up.
But he is away on business and so their mum asked me to take them today as a favour whilst she is in work.

I've had them since 9 this morning. She was supposed to pick them up at 6:30. I called her at 7 and 7:30 and 8 and 8:15 but she's not replying. I have text her a number of times and nothing.

My DCs should be in bed. Her eldest isn't bothered but her youngest is getting upset saying that she should be in bed. I haven't told them that their mum should have picked them up by now.

Should I go round to theirs? I don't want to worry the DCs if their mum isn't there when we get there. But I would like to know where she is. So would I be unreasonable to go round there?

Anybody else see the irony in hundreds of people posting that other people should stop posting?

dolkapots · 22/02/2016 09:15

PREVENT has been one of the most alarmist and ridiculous waste of government money IMHO. You can't spend five minutes alone in the bathroom without a potential terror plot being a plausible reason. Back to the thread....

gooseberryroolz · 22/02/2016 09:17

That's okay Smile

bbpp · 22/02/2016 09:17

If something bad has happened it's really not fair to expect OP to make a new thread to update a bunch of random mumsnetter. It's going to be the last of her worries or priorities. Try and leave her some space now guys.

turkeylovessprout · 22/02/2016 09:20

I think gooseberry has a valid point. Everyone else is posting their theories, she isn't saying this is what has happened but nobody had thought of it before had they?
I also lived in SE London and no, it is not off the mark.

gooseberryroolz · 22/02/2016 09:21

Oi!

turkeylovessprout · 22/02/2016 09:23

Gah!!!! sorry Gooseberry!!! :( Please don't thump me.

MiscellaneousAssortment · 22/02/2016 09:23

Just wanted to point out to those asking if social services would be involved if the children are sleeping/ being looked after by the OP - there seems to be an assumption that 'getting social services involved' somehow equates to them swooping in and taking the children away. And the replies 'no surely not the children are asleep now' confirms that assumption.

Wanted to point out that this is not the case and social services can actually 'be informed' without instantly jumping into a car to grab the children and rip them from their warm beds.

I think SS would far rather the children weren't terrified and pulled from a place they know and made aware that neither parent had been in contact and they'd been left.

If neither parent can get to the school to pick up the children later (assuming they did manage to go to school), and no other relative or emergency contact can step in, then maybe children's services will have to find the children a temporary foster place, but that would be after extensive enquiries into the children's lives and support networks.

I really hope the father can get home asap or the mother turns up well and with a valid explanation. Or both.

gooseberryroolz · 22/02/2016 09:24

I do NOT have a point, of any sort, but especially not about terrorism theories.

gooseberryroolz · 22/02/2016 09:24

S'okay. I might just flounce off a bit Wink

Dutchoma · 22/02/2016 09:25

Is it possible that Record has been in touch with the police (as 'everybody'said she should be and the police have said to stop posting on MN as they are investigating?
In which case it would be better if 'everybody' had a bit of patience and waited until the OP comes back (or not as the case may be).

ErnesttheBavarian · 22/02/2016 09:27

Did all 4 kids go in to school today? Hope they're ok x

SideOrderofChip · 22/02/2016 09:29

Hope their mum was found and everyone is ok

ThatsNotMyRabbit · 22/02/2016 09:36

I wonder how many posts there are telling people to stop posting...

JeanGenie23 · 22/02/2016 09:36

It's far out to a lot of people but where I work, it isn't , so just wanted to offer something different to the thread as both parents are AWOL and have been for what must be nearly 24hours. I said in my first post that I knew it may not be applicable in this instance but it is in some.

mummyto2monkeys · 22/02/2016 09:40

I have been following this post. My heart breaks for the two children who by now must be very aware that their Mummy has not showed up.

I am praying that their Mother is found and that they are back in the arms of family soon. Hopefully the school have details of other emergency contact numbers and that family can be contacted soon.

I am sending hugs to Recordmirror, well done for dealing with a difficult situation calmly and responsibly. I hope that the father is in contact asap.

Wassat · 22/02/2016 09:41

Hope everything is ok- how upsetting for all of you Flowers

dolkapots · 22/02/2016 09:42

Is it just me or was there a very similar thread not so long ago?

AndNowItsSeven · 22/02/2016 09:44

Dolka is just you, that thread has definitely not been mentioned multiple times already.

clam · 22/02/2016 09:44

Oh ffs!

slebmum1 · 22/02/2016 09:44

Blimey, hope all is ok.

turkeylovessprout · 22/02/2016 09:46

Yes, twas Jeanie who wrote not gooseberry. FWIW, I can see your point Jeanie having just moved out of SE London (Lewisham to be precise where many of these plots have been foiled)
What people don't hear about is all the plots which have failed or have been uncovered before anything happens.
Where I live now, it would be a ridiculous idea however!

diggerdigsdogs · 22/02/2016 09:57

Fingers crossed for good news.

HollyJollyDillydolly · 22/02/2016 10:00

Crikey. Hope everything is resolved now.

violettahatesoperatta · 22/02/2016 10:03

Oh Goodness was a desperately worrying situation.

Finger's crossed for the best. Personally, I wouldn't worry too much about getting the kids to school in the circumstances. This must clearly be an emergency.
