Playdate DCs haven't been picked up. Should I drop them off?

So a mum from my DCs school asked me to have her two DCs today as her two are the same age/in the same class as my two youngest.
The DCs have been here a couple of times before but usually I arrange this with their dad and he picks them up.
But he is away on business and so their mum asked me to take them today as a favour whilst she is in work.

I've had them since 9 this morning. She was supposed to pick them up at 6:30. I called her at 7 and 7:30 and 8 and 8:15 but she's not replying. I have text her a number of times and nothing.

My DCs should be in bed. Her eldest isn't bothered but her youngest is getting upset saying that she should be in bed. I haven't told them that their mum should have picked them up by now.

Should I go round to theirs? I don't want to worry the DCs if their mum isn't there when we get there. But I would like to know where she is. So would I be unreasonable to go round there?

Gosh, how terrifying. Hard to imagine at outcome that is completely okay. Hopefully it isn't too awful.

Doesn't really seem like the time or place for other people's horror stories; I'm sure OP is imagine all the possible negative outcomes herself.

'Hopefully' the mum has 'just' had an accident at work or been in a non serious road accident/

Sharing your experience isn't bad taste if o.p hadn't phoned police it mayt have given a different perspective

I've worked many, many Sundays in a variety of offices and have never been a CEO of any company... With the seven days a week culture expected by society it's not at all unusual for offices to be open and staffed seven days a week.

OVienna · 21/02/2016 22:47

it is not unusual to work in an office and go in at the weekend if you've got a deadline. In fact, the only person who probably wouldn't have to is someone like the CEO.... I'm betting that one if her colleagues didn't turn up to help finish a project and she got left doing the lot.
At least I hope so..,

Does your school have whatsapp groups for each year? Maybe if so you could find the group akd ask for alternate contact details like a grandma or similar ? Someone may have the dads number too

MammaTJ · 21/02/2016 22:49

Thank you for your replies there are lots of them so I haven't had a chance to read them yet.

The DCs are all in bed the 4 year old was very upset as they have never had a "sleepover" before. So it took a while to get everyone settled. Someone on Facebook gave me the dad's number but he didn't answer when I called him I've left him a text and voicemails saying it's an emergency. They also told me where the mum works, I have called and its been closed since 8.
So I called 101 and they have gone to check the house and her workplace.

I am really worried something awful has happened but I'm trying to keep it together and not panic in case the DCs see me.

The poor children Sad
I too remember a similar thread where the mother was rushed into hospital. High on meds she didn't give the full details of what was happening with their kids so the father misunderstood that the poster who was looking after the kids knew what was happening.

TruckerHat · 21/02/2016 22:50

Hopefully the mum has turned up now Flowers

WhoTheFuckIsSimon · 21/02/2016 22:50

BillSykesDog · 21/02/2016 22:51

Weird that the Dad is AWOL as well.

coolaschmoola · 21/02/2016 22:52

You are doing brilliantly Record. FlowersCakeChocolateBrew - it would be wine, but not when you're in charge of so many children. Well done for coping, it must be very difficult.
