So theres been articles in the DM about Sam Fairers boyfriend kissing his Mum on the lips and "how gross it is"

I always have. Still do and im 28.

AIBU to think its not that weird?

OP posts:

I still kiss my parents on the lips. It's an affectionate peck, nothing weird or gross about it. I get that lots of people don't want to do it in their families but there's no need to suggest anything wrong with a family that does it.

MadameDePompom · 19/02/2016 11:35

It's not for me but I don't think it's weird if other people do it.

Although the kiss between Sam Faiers' boyfriend and his mum did make me think 'ewwww'. It seemed more like a lovers kiss.

DH and I both kiss our (7 and almost 2 years old) girls on the lips, but no one else other than each other. Family/friends get a peck on the cheek in greeting/farewell.

I have seen the Sam.F BF/Mum kiss, and it is gross, not something i'd expect anyone to do with a parent!

ohtheholidays · 19/02/2016 12:05

I do find it weird and the example you used was Vomit inducing!

I've never kissed my Mum or Dad on the lips and our 5DC usually kiss us/we kiss them on the cheek the only person I kiss on the lips is my DH.

helenahandbag · 19/02/2016 12:31

Nope, nope, nope. Nope.

I find it really weird and cringey.

My grandad always goes in for a kiss on the lips and I almost get whiplash trying to turn my head.

Dachshund · 19/02/2016 12:42

I kiss my DD on the lips but she's only 12 weeks old Grin and I can't imagine doing it past toddlerhood TBH. I grew up in a kissy affectionate family but always the cheek or forehead. In fact my mum is vehemently against kissing children on the lips as that's how she ended up getting the cold sore virus as a child and it's plagued her life!

Libitina · 19/02/2016 12:46

I don't think it's weird for some people. However, did you see that kiss?! It was weird. No two ways about it. Creepy as fuck.

Agreed. I think it's the way she put her hand around the back of his neck and the way she looked at him.

MadameDePompom · 19/02/2016 12:47

I think her blouse being unbuttoned added to the general ickyness.

Gruntfuttock · 19/02/2016 13:16

I wonder if the OP is coming back. Confused

RubyRoseViolet · 19/02/2016 14:42

To be honest I found myself watching the whole program (embarrassing to admit). Her dp kissing his mum on the lips is the least of this woman's problems!

Her DP came across as a selfish, nasty, controlling man child who wasn't even capable of making himself beans on toast while his partner was breastfeeding their newborn. The overly intense relationship with his mother and then the kiss were just another disturbing element of his behaviour. On it's own I'd say it's not necessarily odd.

Katedotness1963 · 19/02/2016 15:15

My parents didn't kiss us at all. Our kids kiss us on the lips or cheek. It's less than a seconds contact so I've never thought it was weird. My eldest is taller than me now so likes to kiss me on top of my head, perhaps because it makes me mad?

jeremyisahunt · 19/02/2016 15:22

I kiss both mum and dad on the lips. I'm 29.

Surely you don't have cold sores because no one who kissed you on the lips had the virus?

Quietattheback · 19/02/2016 15:47

Family kissing on the lips isn't weird per say but putting your hand on the back of your grown son's head and then tilting your own head in for a smooch ala Sam bf and mother is defo weird as fuck.

MadameDePompom · 19/02/2016 15:49

They must regret making that show!

Fingeronthebutton · 19/02/2016 15:55

Not a kiss that made shudder, but my late MIL would rub herself against my OH when they hugged.
Even worse, I found out that her eldest son had given her a porno film to watch, because she had never seen one!!!!

MarkRuffaloCrumble · 19/02/2016 15:56

My DD keeps trying to kiss me on the lips (she's 9) and I find it weird! I never kissed my parents on the lips and have only ever kissed BFs on the lips, so for me it is not the way you kiss parents/siblings/friends etc but I know a lot of people do.

I'm trying not to be freaked out by it. DP is the same when his DDs kiss him on the lips - their mum's family do it, so they've got used to it as a normal thing, but he's like me and finds it odd!

CornishDoll82 · 19/02/2016 15:58

I have no idea who Sam Faiers is let alone her boyfriend.

But I just googled it.

And I've just seen a man snog his mum.

Outaboutnowt · 19/02/2016 15:59

Have just youtubed the kiss you're on about and yes IMO it is weird. It's too intimate, like how you would kiss your partner.

A quick peck on the lips is different, I know people who kiss their parents like that and I've never batted an eyelid. DS currently does snog me (tongue and everything) if he gets half a chance, but he is only 1 Grin

MarkRuffaloCrumble · 19/02/2016 16:00

In that photo it doesn't even look like she got him on the lips, just a micro second open mouth as she went in for a cheek kiss.

katienana · 19/02/2016 16:03

I kiss on the lips with my ds and my parents, but a quick peck, nothing like the lingering kiss of Paul and his mum. It was very weird especially alongside his other behaviour.

EllieJayJay · 19/02/2016 16:04

Oh god please no
