to think indesit have deliberately put my family at risk

As most of you are probably aware, indesit have recalled a lot of their dryers. I felt quite lucky that my dryer was replaced for free quite quickly.

Now 2 months on I noticed my dryer was getting very very hot. It has also started to smell burny. I thought I would check this model just incase and yup this is being recalled too.

I feel like they have replaced my dryer with a faulty one to pacify me and in the hope I didn't check again (which I wouldn't have if it hadn't started showing problems)

I have called and emailed and I'm getting nowhere. I was told they would get back to me in 8 weeks. That, in my opinion, is not good enough

That's awful and I hope you get a full refund but I don't think they set out to actually set you and your family on fire

8 weeks is rubbish but they didn't deliberately send you an unsafe tumble dryer. I think you're being a bit precious to think that.

I just don't trust household Tumble Dryers (before one of my neighbors ones caught fire).

I much prefer using the large commercial ones at the launderette. They are also cheaper to use too.

Ive never even seen a laundrette where I live. Not a solution I can use.

OK maybe they didn't set out to set my house on fire but at the very least you would assume they would make sure the replacement isn't one that will be recalled too

Had they announced a recall on that model before they gave it to you?

There is no way I can find that out. Oh actually yes they must have because the last update was December 2015. My dryer was delivered on 30th of December so unless they updated on the 31st they delivered a dryer they knew was faulty

I was in the supermarket yesterday, and one of the papers had a front page article where a lady who worked on the helpline for these dryers was claiming she had been told to lie to customers and she felt she could have killed them. Trying to find the article online so I can see how legit it looks!! But at least one person who worked there would agree work you.

Yeah they do. They own hotpoint, indesit and another brand.

It is taking a long time to get around to them all because there are so many. The chap who did ours has never been so busy.

But my point is they had already got to me and replaced my dryer. But they replaced it with a dryer that is also faulty

You need to escalate it up the chain - perhaps a special delivery letter to their head of legal at head office telling them to replace it under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 and if they do not do so in 7 days you will take them to the small claims court and call trading standards.

I have reported mine (which by the way already had a separate fault within 2 months of purchase which the repair man said his company - my seller- would be charging to Indesit as the part concerned should not have gone after only 2 months) under the general scheme and not heard a thing from them except another letter yesterday saying if you want to register report here (I've already done that weeks ago).

Under the 2015 Act if a replacement is faulty they also have a duty to replace that - there is a "short term right to reject" within 30 days.

We are (finally) getting an engineer round on Monday after registering for the recall in November. The only reason we finally got a response was because DH emailed the CEO. I am very very annoyed with their rubbish response. I suggest you email him too.

My Indesit dryer is one of the faulty ones. I reported it in November as soon as it hit the news. I'm still waiting for the 'fix' and they emailed last week to say it won't be until at least March.

But if I didn't want to wait I could by a new one for £100 which heavily reduced according to them. Err no I want my original one to work safely thanks!

On the news I heard they'd only repaired 125,000 so far and they have millions to repair.

I'm thinking of e-mailing the CEO, but if I was you I'd go to trading standards as thats shocking.

They are coming to me on Monday too after a long time of trying to explain that as I'm a teacher it was half term or not at all.
I tried to call them but couldn't ever get through. I ended up sorting it all out via Twitter. Very helpful to do stuff like that on Twitter, it's very public so companies do take notice.

Just wanted to point out that all tumble dryers, dishwashers and washing machines are a potential fire risk and should never be left to run unattended.

One should never go to bed or leave the house while an an appliance is still running.

I am extremely cautious after a colleuagues tumble dryer caught fire killing her pets ( dogs and cats). We have had a letter from Hotpoint recently to say our tumble dryer needs to be checked out but is ok to use in the meantime as long as someone is in the house whilst it is on !! I do not trust them. I am still using our dryer but won't go upstairs with it on.

Mine is an indesit over 10 yrs old. Still fell into their "faulty" category.
Hubs has just taken it to the tip as they said it would be May before they would be out to fix it or I could pay £99 for a replacement. Cheek of them really. Btw I'm not replacing it at all as have lakelands excellent air dryer . Much cheaper to run.

how do you find the recall list. ive got a whirlpool 6th sense, had it for about 8 years (its shit i wouldnt recommend it)

My hotpoint is on the recall list. Estimated time of fixing is March.
They did call me with a kind offer though - a brand new one for £50! Err No!
