Never met a Persephone...

ClaraLane · 09/02/2016 16:26

I know of a Persephone. Apparently I'm the only one who had ever heard of it because when they announced her birth to the family everyone looked at them blankly. She's called Percy or Sephy for short which I love!

ThenLaterWhenItGotDark · 09/02/2016 16:30

As baby names is the most trolled area of MN I imagine all the Algernons are where they always were. Alongside all the Kayleena-neveahs. In fantasymakebelieveland.

MrsKoala · 09/02/2016 16:30

i know 2 Persephones and it is the name we chose if the ds's had have been girls.

My Dad had a cousin Algernon i think. Defo someone on my dad's side somewhere.

ollieplimsoles · 09/02/2016 16:31

One of the ladies in my breastfeeding group has a 'Summer- Rayne' all one name.

MrsKoala · 09/02/2016 16:31

I also know a Cesarion and 2 Ptolemys.

ollieplimsoles · 09/02/2016 16:33

Ooh I stand corrected Koala

I like the shortening 'Sephy' I think its really pretty

thestylethatdecadesforgot · 09/02/2016 16:35

Cesarion is hilarious!

WorraLiberty · 09/02/2016 16:36

Fucking hell, Persephone sounds like a cross between a musical instrument and a Samsung Galaxy.

soundsystem · 09/02/2016 16:36

If this baby is a girls she migy be a Persephone. I'll report back Grin

Hadn't considered Algernon for a boy. It probably out as Algie is a bit close to DD's nickname.

WorraLiberty · 09/02/2016 16:38

So glad I got my post in before soundsystem's

Sorry Blush

MrsKoala · 09/02/2016 16:40

Cesarion is hilarious!

Why? Confused

Only if you are saying it wrong Worra.

NaiceVillageOfTheDammed · 09/02/2016 16:41

Cesarion - son of Cleopatra and Julius Ceasar. Unfortunately hunted down and killed by Octavion.

MrsKoala · 09/02/2016 16:43

Well this year might be a girl for us too Sound, so we may still use it. Or Artemis. I like Delilah too but the song does keep popping into my head.

WorraLiberty · 09/02/2016 16:43

Will Ocatavion become the new Jayden? Grin

MrsKoala · 09/02/2016 16:46

I know who he was, not sure why it's hilarious tho.

I'm named after someone who prophecised doom, was not believed, raped, made a concubine and murdered. Still a nice name. Grin

Crabbitface · 09/02/2016 16:47

I love Persephone! Don't know any but I bet they'd be very cool if I did.

x2boys · 09/02/2016 16:50

How do you pronounce persephone and ptolemy?

MrsKoala · 09/02/2016 16:51

I know of 2 MNers who have Persephones. I know of 1 with a Zebedee.

OhForFrigSake · 09/02/2016 16:51

I think Cesarion is funny because it reads as Caesarian which, although I'm guessing isnt the pronunciation, is probably how most people will say it - until corrected anyway. I'm not sure I'd fancy a lifetime of people's smirks and having to correct that mispronunciation tbh.

ollieplimsoles · 09/02/2016 16:52

Is Persephone pronounced Per-sef-o-ne?
And Ptolemy like tolemy?

OhForFrigSake · 09/02/2016 16:52

I read about a baby Zephaniah on baby names which I thought sounded lovely - I love Zephy too for short! :-)

MrsKoala · 09/02/2016 16:52

Per-seff-onie (a bit like Per Stephanie but without the T) and Ptolemy is with a silent P, Tol - EM - ee. both gorgeous imo.

originalmavis · 09/02/2016 16:52

Per-se-foh-nee
Toll-lomee

Much better spellings imho

x2boys · 09/02/2016 16:52
