AIBU?

To ask how often you wash your dressing gown

I am at the conservative end of the spectrum on washing. Eg Towels are weekly. Wear my gown daily just to and from shower and bedroom, but bit worried - AIBU with lack of dressing gown washing in my house..

How often do you wash yours?

Many, obviously. Reading 'every couple of years' rendered me incapable of writing.

" I don't have a dryer so in winter it's washed less often. I'd never get it dry and also it's too cold to take off in the first place."

Nor do we; that's why I have two bathrobes and two dressing gowns. One dries on a hanger on the back of the door while I wear the other.

Actually, thinking about it...mine was new at Christmas. I wear it every day, not yet been washed. And I wear it naked, too Shock

I have two, one for winter and one for summer. I rarely wear them, so I only wash them when I think about it; maybe once a month. If I wore one every day, I'd probably wash it weekly, just like my towels and bedding.

About every six weeks.

Weekly / fortnightly. DH shares them with me them sometimes and he doesn't wear PJ tops so any less often would be genuinely grim.

A couple of times a week I chuck it in, but I slob in it so feel it must be stinky

I think mine was washed not long after dd was born. Nearly 3 years ago.

But that was the last time it was worn...

I have 2 fleecy ones. IOC they get washed every other month they'd be doing well. I only wash them if they have good on them. Unlike other clothes you never cook in a dressing gown so it doesn't pick up food smells.

I also only wash my towels on a sniff test, roughly weekly to biweekly.

I don't over wash stuff. I have enough laundry without washing clean clothes.

I'm very surprised at the answers on this thread. I thought MN was the home of people who wash things even if they have only been touched let alone worn.
I'm also relieved. I rarely wash mine but as it happens I washed it today. I think it last had a whirl last November...

At this time of year, after one or two washes thanks to muddy dogs jumping up!

ZenNudist I've definitely cooked in my dressing gown! I put mine on in the mornings and take it off when I have to get dressed to leave the house. It's a really fluffy fleecy one, pale grey and white stripes but it does remarkable well at reselling marks. It did, however, go crispy when it got covered in breastmilk, so I guess I washed it more often then!! It's a bit too warm to wear with the hearing on though, so I need a thinner one (have been guilty of getting the kids dressed in normal clothes, turning the heating down then realising that they're frozen Blush)

The cotton ones when they show tea stains, or old congealed egg yolk and you can no longer pretend that it happened that day.

The winter chenille one when I can no longer have a cup of tea without transferring the cat hairs from it into the cup. Blush

About once every month, or when it's been puked on. Only use it when I get up for night feeds and over pjs though.

Almost weekly, actually daily this week - new baby, who is sick this week......
Outside of that - maybe monthly / fortnightly.

I have two in rotation a light and a dark one. So when I do a light wash the light one goes in and when it's dry I wear it, while light one is being worn the dark one is in the wash and when that's dry I swap, (FYI I do two light and two dark washes a week) so about four times a week but I wear mine pretty much the whole time I'm at home and I'm a sahm so think they need it. Would be MUCH less if they were worn less

I never wear one. I can't stand them. They are minging. DH and DD love theirs and wear them in the evenings after a shower, bleurgh.
I have a jacket type one used on the post natal ward but that has been in my wardrobe for three years unused so I should probably chuck it.
I put a cardigan on over my PJ's if I'm cold, but I don't wear really wear PJ's for long.

Weekly or more often as it gets milk and baby sick on it. I have 2 so always a clean one to hand.

Pre-baby I washed it about once a month.

About once every week to month depending.

But we also have two different kinds. I have the most amazing long cashmere dressing gown that I wear getting out of bed or over any nightmare if cold and changed early before bed. That's washed around once a month.

Then cotton white toweling ones in bathroom for after bath so I dry wearing whilst I do hair/ face in the morning. Once every 1-2 weeks

Kids also have two and they always look so snug in bath toweling ones after baths. Saves them trying to keep regular towel around them also

Hmm
It looks like I'm not the one who needs to calm myself down. Grin
To start with you have no idea how I felt about your comment, as my comment back was perfectly neutral (as was I).
On the other hand, it helps readers if you use a Wink or a Smile if you do a tongue in cheek comment. You cannot blame readers for misinterpreting what you write if it's not clear. That's the danger with tongue in cheek comments that are not obvious.
But continue to do so. I don't care in the least. And I'm certainly not worked up about it. Just thought I'd point out. In case it's useful for you in the future. To avoid unnecessary silly comments from you.
