AIBU?

To ask how often you wash your dressing gown

I am at the conservative end of the spectrum on washing. Eg Towels are weekly. Wear my gown daily just to and from shower and bedroom, but bit worried - AIBU with lack of dressing gown washing in my house..

How often do you wash yours?

At least fortnightly for my towelling one which I tend to put on after climbing out of the bath / shower.

Less for my fleecey one which I put on if the kids have a friend sleeping over / we have overnight guests and I feel wandering around in a nightshirt is a bit indecent. Probably more like monthly for that one.

Quite frequently, but I'd like to raise you all and be smug about having mine since my teens - I reckon it's 25 years old now! No holes or anything, it must have been made in an asbestos factory ...

It depends.
I often wear mine over clothes for extra warmth. How would I factor that in?
Something like multiply the time when wearing over clothes by 0.1?
But how to account for use while cooking or feeding a baby?

Sounds like a chaotic model is necessary.

This is one for the mathematical genius among us.

X = normal clothes wearing minutes

Time of getting dressed to taking of clothes = Y minutes

Time of putting on dressing gown to taking it off equals Z minutes

Work out the average equilavent minutes we are wearing our dressing gowns to how many minutes our clothes before they are washed.

Divide one by the other, no idea which way, and we will all know when to wash them.

Note to MN, this should be absolutely priority, a press, release, contact our MPs, EMP. I will not be able to sleep if I find out I am on the dirty end of dressing gown washing.

Had it since November, washed it once, if anyone is interested.

I only wear mine when I put my pj's on in the evening, it's like a coat really a dressing gown isn't it? You wouldn't wash a coat so often? Unless your using it as a towel I suppose? When little un's were tiny and vomiting milk all over me or I had breastmilk leaking I can think I washed it more often or I smelt like sour milk Wink

Not very often oops. I washed it just before Xmas and put it on this morning and thought urgh smells a bit rank. To be fair though I don't wear it every week, never mind daily. So just going to stick it in the wash now with my bedding. Then will do the kids after.

My cleaner has started putting it in the wash every other week. Left to my own devices, maybe a couple of times a year..?

Once a week in my house. eeew. I always think I'm a bit lazy with them ut my DH puts his on top of his sweaty cycling clothes which grosses me out. However, I have to report he isn't the first bloke I've known to do this.

lweji perhaps I should have put lighthearted shoot me if I ever use that next to my tongue in cheek comment.
Calm yourself!
Hmm
It looks like I'm not the one who needs to calm myself down. Grin
To start with you have no idea how I felt about your comment, as my comment back was perfectly neutral (as was I).
On the other hand, it helps readers if you use a Wink or a Smile if you do a tongue in cheek comment. You cannot blame readers for misinterpreting what you write if it's not clear. That's the danger with tongue in cheek comments that are not obvious.
But continue to do so. I don't care in the least. And I'm certainly not worked up about it. Just thought I'd point out. In case it's useful for you in the future. To avoid unnecessary silly comments from you.

Every two years. Whether it needs it or not.

About once every week to month depending.

But we also have two different kinds. I have the most amazing long cashmere dressing gown that I wear getting out of bed or over any nightmare if cold and changed early before bed. That's washed around once a month.

Then cotton white toweling ones in bathroom for after bath so I dry wearing whilst I do hair/ face in the morning. Once every 1-2 weeks

Kids also have two and they always look so snug in bath toweling ones after baths. Saves them trying to keep regular towel around them also

Weekly or more often as it gets milk and baby sick on it. I have 2 so always a clean one to hand.

Pre-baby I washed it about once a month.

I never wear one. I can't stand them. They are minging. DH and DD love theirs and wear them in the evenings after a shower, bleurgh.
I have a jacket type one used on the post natal ward but that has been in my wardrobe for three years unused so I should probably chuck it.
I put a cardigan on over my PJ's if I'm cold, but I don't wear really wear PJ's for long.

I have two in rotation a light and a dark one. So when I do a light wash the light one goes in and when it's dry I wear it, while light one is being worn the dark one is in the wash and when that's dry I swap, (FYI I do two light and two dark washes a week) so about four times a week but I wear mine pretty much the whole time I'm at home and I'm a sahm so think they need it. Would be MUCH less if they were worn less

Almost weekly, actually daily this week - new baby, who is sick this week......
Outside of that - maybe monthly / fortnightly.

About once every month, or when it's been puked on. Only use it when I get up for night feeds and over pjs though.
