Dss dyed his hair against our wishes and school is going to go mad

Dss dyed his hair yesterday to a blond colour and I personally don't like it (haven't said this). It looks very fake and doesn't not match because of his thick dark eyebrows and tanned skin tone.

Aibu to think that he did it so he should face the schools punishment.

YANBU to think that he has to face the music at school - although I don't see what the fuss would be all about tbh.

YABU to start the OP with your opinion about it: he's a teenager, they experiment, it's only hair

turdfairynomore · 31/01/2016 22:02

His hair. His choice. His school. His punishment. His problem!

DrCoconut · 01/02/2016 01:25

My 17 year old DS has wonderful long rock star hair. I envy him as it is so thick and lovely (my hair is crap since I had kids). I've had people say I should make him get it cut but really, why? It's part of his identity and it suits him and I think he is old enough to decide for himself despite having SEN. College are very easy going, there is no uniform and the only things that are banned are unsafe (depends on course) or "indecent" clothes and obviously offensive slogans or images. Unless it's a safety thing I think hair styles and teens are a non issue.

NoncommittalToSparkleMotion · 01/02/2016 02:00

Whoa...

So, I'd say let him deal with whatever fall out.

That's all.

AustinAmbassadorYReg · 01/02/2016 02:52

It'll be a shame if he gets into trouble with the school, but he knows the rules so on his head be it (if you'll pardon the pun! Grin)

The teenage years are exactly the right time to be experimenting with appearance. Its fun at the time, and then 10 years on you get to look at each others old photos and have a good laugh at what you all used to look like. So don't make a fuss, just leave him to it Wink

This entire thread is a prime example of how ridiculous mumsnet has become at times.

Yes.

GreatFuckability · 01/02/2016 03:11

Personally my child wouldn't be going to a school which didn't allow hair dye, because to me its indicative of a ridiculous, arbitrary set of rules that have absolutely no purpose.

BeyondBootcampsAgain · 01/02/2016 08:20

Do 'rent boys' even have blonde hair? Confused

BeyondBootcampsAgain · 01/02/2016 08:21

And op, 16? 16?!

GreatFuckability · 01/02/2016 08:25

boots we shall survey 100 rent boys and get back to you....

GreatFuckability · 01/02/2016 08:36

Note to self: Don't google rent boy.

Rent Boy 101 shows a distinct lack of blondes on its cover. A couple of nice gimps, however.

BeyondBootcampsAgain · 01/02/2016 09:55

Have to go down a few pages before i find a blonde gentleman at all!

AustinAmbassadorYReg · 01/02/2016 11:23

we shall survey 100 rent boys and get back to you....

Yes, in the style of Family Fortunes!
"We asked 100 rent boys, do you have blonde hair?"
^"You said 99.....our survey said.....12!!! Oh Maureen, sorry to piss on your chips there, but you haven't won the car. LADS!! She's not won the Ford Escort, wheel it back out, wheel it back out..." Grin

GreatFuckability · 01/02/2016 15:34

Austin

Its almost like i'm in the studio! Grin

IHaveBrilloHair · 01/02/2016 16:56

I've just realised what a rent boy actually is, I was thinking of Sick boy from Trainspotting who does have blond hair Confused

GreatFuckability · 01/02/2016 17:49

they call Renton from trainspotting 'rent boy' to annoy him, so thats probably why you're thinking of that.
