To eat Chocolate in front of DH when he is on a GP imposed Diet

Oldsu · 31/01/2016 11:36

Just eaten a whole bar of Cadburys Fruit and Nut, DH is whimpering and giving me the big eyed treatment, but not sharing with him his GP has him on a diet for a reason.

DH says I am cruel and wicked and that I don't love him and is sulking.

So am I being unreasonable??? I am not on a diet.

I wouldn't do this, it's not very fair is it? Especially if the diet has just started (?).

PurpleDaisies · 31/01/2016 11:38

I think you are being quite unhelpful. It is really hard to stick to a diet in the early days and having someone else eating stuff that you really want right in front of you isn't all that supportive. Couldn't you have gone somewhere else?

PurpleDaisies · 31/01/2016 11:39

Is this a reverse?

ChubbyPolecat · 31/01/2016 11:42

Well it's not very fair to him to be actively trying to derail him

GreatFuckability · 31/01/2016 11:45

I think you are both unreasonable and mean.

Copperkettle · 31/01/2016 11:46

Really cruel. I'm in your DH position and it's so hard.

OnGoldenPond · 31/01/2016 11:46

YABU!

Fair enough, you're not on a diet, but do you really have to eat it right in front of his nose?

Yes he's on a diet for a reason but dieting is HARD your know. That's why so many people fail at it even when they desperately want to lose weight.

I presume you care about his health so how about giving him some support? Get lots of healthy snacks in and maybe join him in eating healthier, even if you don't need to lose weight.

Just keep the chocolate out of sight- or better still, send it over to me for safe keeping! Grin

BertrandRussell · 31/01/2016 11:47

I think that's unkind.

Why would you want to be unkind?

NoahVale · 31/01/2016 11:49

do you often eat whole bars of chocolate?

NoahVale · 31/01/2016 11:50

anyway, you should share imo, so what if he is on a diet, it is up to him

UmbongoUnchained · 31/01/2016 11:51

I would Grin

ShesaidthenIsaid · 31/01/2016 11:53

Very childish and selfish of you.

ricketytickety · 31/01/2016 11:53

Dunno, do you want to support him or do you want to make it hard for him?

JohnLuther · 31/01/2016 11:56

YABU it's very unsupportive.

EmpressOfTheVulvaCupcakes · 31/01/2016 11:56

YABU. It's not fair to eat it in front of him.

RubbleBubble00 · 31/01/2016 11:57

not very nice of you

RevoltingPeasant · 31/01/2016 11:59

Was this supposed to be 'hilarious'? Hmm

ExplodingCarrots · 31/01/2016 12:00

Yanbu Imo..and I'm dieting. Just because I'm on a diet it shouldn't stop my DP eating what he wants. He shouldn't have to feel guilty having a chocolate bar and biscuit just because I'm on a diet. You should be able to eat what you want.

5Hearts · 31/01/2016 12:01

Think is was pretty unsupportive of you and maybe a bit mean...his reaction seems a bit OTT but the first few days/weeks of giving something up can be pretty tough.

Babymamamama · 31/01/2016 12:03

Not nice. Not supportive. Poor dh.

MaisieHerbert · 31/01/2016 12:07

Unless you are with your dh 24/7 I don't see why you couldn't wait to have your bar of chocolate. My dh would never do this when I am dieting because he loves and respects me and therefore doesn't deliberately set out to make life harder for me. Dieting is bloody hard.

ToucheShay · 31/01/2016 12:08

Very unsupportive of you.

We are in the same position as you, but I would make DH a fruit salad or a jelly and yogurt so he was having a treat too.

paxillin · 31/01/2016 12:09

It does look like you're taunting him.

SweetCheeks99 · 31/01/2016 12:09

YABU

could you not have eaten it another time, or even in another room?

SoleBizzz · 31/01/2016 12:10

Yabu and spiteful.
