DD's 18th birthday present puppy.

The name DD appears to be settling on is inoffensive, pleasant and frankly a bit dull. And I don't like it.

She has declined all of my suggestions. What can I do to get over it?

(Yes, I know this is a non-issue but I'll be hollaring this name accross the countryside for the next 16 years)

I have a rabbit called Knives (named after Scott Pilgrim's adorable girlfriend).

The vet looks at me like this: Confused

I've got a small and annoying dog as well, I refer to her as "rat" maybe that could work for you?

I find pet names get lengthened rather than shortened. My DD's cat was ruby, then rhubarb, and is now rubeus hagrid or fucking skinny ginger bastard when no ones in earshot

Our last two dogs have been rescues, they have come to us with names we would not have chosen that seem to be their original names (due to the circumstances of rescue). whilst I'm not keen on having a dog called "Butch" when I would have chosen something nicer it is really all he has of his own and is part of his history. After a while you stop noticing.

I once owned a Rottweiler called Filthy. he was the best dog ever, and it made people smirk at the vets. winner all round.

Could Millie be short for Mildred or Millicent - they're closer to your Agatha and everyone is happy?

Yeah Millie's pretty boring. But it could be worse, like, ermm, Stinker or something.
