Ladypiss?

venusinscorpio · 04/02/2016 23:12

Nah that doesn't work venus because gender = sex

I'd just like to see what objection Tired will make to it. If any.

GruntledOne · 04/02/2016 23:24

Would care greatly if this person won "Female author of the year" award. HTH

Why? Do you seriously contend that men have an advantage over women when it comes to writing? I must say, if I were a writer, I wouldn't dream of entering a competition with such a patronising title.

Thecatisatwat · 05/02/2016 00:01

Am I the only person who thinks of the House of Lords when the words 'Lady brain' or 'Lady penis' (or indeed Lady piss) is mentioned?

Thecatisatwat · 05/02/2016 00:04

And it's only fair that I reclaim my lady piss I think.

ShortcutButton · 05/02/2016 00:18

'Obsessed with genitals'?

The things that make me know I am a woman is my genitals. And my internal sex organs

That's what differentiates a woman from a man

Hmm
mathanxiety · 05/02/2016 02:16

My mind is currently boggling about women who fancy they are men wrestling with the practicality of using a urinal.

TiredfIntolerance:
Jan Morris has had surgery. She is a woman. Transgender people are asking demanding in many cases unfortunately that we suspend our disbelief and our critical faculties and play along with their fetish.
Please understand there is a critical difference between transsexual and transgender.

Exactly, Shortcut. But god forbid that mere facts would get in the way of the gender extremists.

MaidOfStars · 05/02/2016 09:05

Ironically for those that argue that, it's the base fact that what's between your legs IS what you're judged on is something that's never really occurred to them before and it hurts to be told that
Yep, first time males have been told 'No, you can't do that', based on genitals. Answer: erase significance of genitals Hmm

CoteDAzur · 05/02/2016 09:14

"Would care greatly if this person won "Female author of the year" award."
"Why? Do you seriously contend that men have an advantage over women when it comes to writing?"

Because that person is not female.

It doesn't have anything to do with advantage or its lack thereof. A cat wouldn't be considered for, let alone win, a contest for dogs.

I agree and I feel this is a really important distinction. Jan Morris for example has probably been a woman for longer than many who use this particular space on the internet

GruntledOne · 05/02/2016 10:14

The things that make me know I am a woman is my genitals. And my internal sex organs

Really? My femininity is about so much more than my genitals.

ShortcutButton · 05/02/2016 10:23

Yes gruntled, I'm not talking about my femininity; that's a gender. I'm not feminine and I reject gender as a oppressive stereotype.

I am a woman, which is an adult female. That is my sex

HairyLittleCarrot · 05/02/2016 10:33

That's exactly the difference, gruntled!

Femininity vs female!

When I was sweating, swearing and gruntingly pushing my 9lb ds out of my vagina, and possibly pooing, oozing and bleeding at the same time I wasn't thinking how 'feminine' I was. But I've never felt more female than that.

ShortcutButton · 05/02/2016 10:38

And when it comes to segregation, it has ALWAYS been done on the basis of sex; because of the biological differences...eg strength/height in sport, sanity bins and urinals in toilets, to prevent sexual violence or fear of sexual violence

Segregation has NEVER been done on the basis of gender (until now) because there is no reason at all for doing so. It is a nonsensical, impossible task, given that gender is not binary/is a spectrum/is socially constructed

ShortcutButton · 05/02/2016 10:40

What reason at all is there for sepoerating people who like frocks/long hair/makeup/dolls/baking etc from those that prefer short hair/jeans/trainers/STEM etc?

ShortcutButton · 05/02/2016 10:42

Yy hairy none of my 'female experiences' have been very feminine at all!

FeliciaJollygoodfellow · 05/02/2016 10:45

Gruntled - so you know you are a woman because you like stereotypical, traditional 'feminine' things? Make up, the colour pink, dolls, ballet etc.?

What if you liked football, short hair, trousers, running around getting dirty, and shouting? Does that make you a man? Or does that just make you a woman who likes traditionally more masculine pursuits?

Because that is the crux, isn't it. You are born male or female. Some transgender people are what I still think of as transsexual - so utterly disgusted with the outward appearance of their bodies because they don't match the way they feel, that they will do anything to change it.

As opposed to a lot of transgender people now, who seem to equate 'I always knew I was a girl because I liked Barbies and wearing skirts' as 'I am therefore Woman'.

ClaudiaApfelstrudel · 05/02/2016 10:48

When I was sweating, swearing and gruntingly pushing my 9lb ds out of my vagina, and possibly pooing, oozing and bleeding at the same time I wasn't thinking how 'feminine' I was. But I've never felt more female than that.

but in the other hand, lots of us don't give birth, some of us can't. Giving birth is not a uniform experience of being female. There aren't any uniform experiences of being female.

Oh, too late and loads of x posts!

Incidentally, just to hark back to a point made ages ago - does anyone remember an episode of Silent Witness (or similar - can't remember the exact one) must have been ten years ago now.

There was a train crash and they couldn't identify the final victim, a man, as they couldn't find any ID and there were unidentified items on the body. The body was burned to the bones.

The man was actually a transgender woman, the unidentified items were parts of a bra.

Not really any point other than - where do we go from here? Anthropologically speaking? This skeleton looks like it's male because of the pelvis, height etc. but we don't want to make that assumption?

^ Farcical for sure. Just some of the thoughts rolling round my head this fine morning!

Interesting piece in the paper this morning about new skeletons found at Stonehenge here

As an aside, how can you tell if an ancient skeleton is female?

ShortcutButton · 05/02/2016 11:06

Jeez Mary can you imagine?? Most of us grown in the 70s would have been labelled transgender!!
