To ask any medical minds for an opinion on my thigh...

I noticed a bruise on my upper inner thigh a couple of days ago. It's about 2 inches by 1 inch. It was really black/ blue. Now green/ yellow. I have no recollection of banging it, and it is on my inner thigh so in an unlikely position for a knock.
But...... this is the hmmmm bit......
I have found a small hard lump just under the epicentre of the bruise. The lump is about the size of two peas but tubular in shape. What is this? How did I get it? Will I die? Painfully?
(Wonders about music for funeral and who will deliver eulogy)
I am 59 and a half, size 14, reasonably healthy in other aspects. Under active thyroid and hiatus hernia excepting.

I'm in Ireland. Going to see my GP will cost me €60. I thought that asking random strangers on the internet who may or may not know what they are talking about a cheaper alternative.
(Am now planning cut price funeral)

It would depend on how deep you nipped it! Sorry, but I agree that you should have it checked out if you can't remember hurting it :(

You really should see your gp. It probably isn't anything to worry about but without taking a proper history and examining it you can't tell.

Go to your GP. It is very probably something minor but I had something like this and it turned out to be an angiosarcoma which needed removing. I'm fine by the way-no need for funeral planning but best to check it out!

at this as well.

Anyone who does know what they are talking about isn't going to be able to say one way or another without having a proper look and feel of it, I'm afraid. You are going to need to see your GP.

Well I tried to photograph it, but I just couldn't seem to capture the subtle variegation of the mottled hues of yellow, green and purple.
If anyone knows of a country with those colours in their flag then I might offer myself up as their President.
So it's death or GP, huh?
Hmm. Death or GP. GP or death.....
€60 is a lot of money and I am spectacularly parsimonious.

Even if you could have photographed it none could examine it over the Internet. Gp is the only one who can give you proper advice.

You have "tube pea thigh syndrome". Very rare. Thought on who could deliver eulogy yet?

Cripes Livednlearned that sounds serious. Did you have a bruise and a small tubular shaped lump under the skin?

It sounds like the ways my lipomas present, although I only usually get faint bruising over the top of them. But like everyone else said, see your GP!

I am often bruising myself.

The change in colour is normal, as the bruise heals.

The lump in the middle could be a spot? Or a damaged bit where it was banged originally.

How long have you had it?

As the bruise is yellowing, it sounds like it is healing.

Give it another day, see if it gets yellower? (Is that a word?)

If you are concerned after a few days from the original noticing, then see a gp.

If it gets sore or hot, see a gp.

If it fades and spreads A LITTLE , with no pain, it's probably a random bang.

Eulogy shall be delivered by not only someone who knows me, but someone who likes me!
So down to the hard slog of finding someone who meets both criteria.

Tbh I really wouldn't pay €60 to see a GP for a single bruise that is going through the normal bruise cycle (going from black to blue/green/yellow). Haematoma's cause a lump under the skin -it's normal.

However, if there area signs of infection (hot, red, painful, swollen, oozing), you think that it is markedly larger than the other thigh, you have any altered sensation in that limb, it feels 'heavy' or is discoloured below the level of the bruise, or it feels unusually cold, then you do need to get it seen.

They recently discovered a very rare miniature mole just south of Dublin. The way they discovered it was a lady went to her GP (a posh one - it was 75 euros) and complained of a bruise on her arm and a small lump in the middle of the bruise.
They removed the lump (250 euros) and discovered a little tiny mole who had burrowed in there (hence the bruising). He was wrapped in a teeny weeny green duvet apparently.
I think you have one of those.
Don't eat chocolate. It makes the moles fatter.

I was at a sledge hockey tournament with my DD this weekend past. I have no recollection of knocking myself, but am sporting this lovely souvenir on my leg nonetheless.

If the bruising resolves, but the tubepeaitis remains, I'd say you might want to chat with your GP in a couple of weeks. Otherwise, you can join the exclusive club of the "how the hell did I do that to myself?" gang.

And I'd be happy to write your eulogy. It doesn't need to be bound by fact, does it?

When in doubt regarding 'is it something or nothing' time is usually the best discriminator. It will either get better, or at least be a lump that doesn't grow or change or it will develop some more worrying features - growing, tethering, changing in texture or colour, etc. Give it a week or two. If it's 'something' it will prove itself. If it's 'nothing' you save €60.

callme what the holy hell is sledge hockey? i have images of people on sledges with hockey sticks and if thats it, i think i may have a theory about how you got your bruise...

talc I once spoke to man who walked past Kings College Medical School and i think this qualifies* me to diagnose you with Heamatoma of ThighusToppicus. Its self-limiting and should clear up in about a week.

Or maybe I could interest you in a eulogy in Haiku Form?
