If she can remember where and when she bought the ticket and the man serving her can remember her.

These tickets should be in some kind of readable state after a wash.

But no, the other couple would not be entitled to the other £33m because Camelot has said there were 2 winning tickets, so someone has one, whether it's her or not. I suppose the fact that no-one else has come forward does led some credence to her story, although it does sound suss to me...

Andrewofgg · 25/01/2016 19:24

If she is not the real deal and nobody else comes forward then after 180 days the money goes into the "good causes" pool.

I don't live in Worcester so I won't be on the jury and can form and express the opinion that this is an attempted fraud.

Theoretician · 25/01/2016 20:25

No point me doing the lottery as I'd keep forgetting to check the numbers

If you buy online, they will check the numbers for you automatically, and tell you if you've won. You also can't lose the ticket, or put it in the wash.

Iliveinalighthousewiththeghost · 25/01/2016 20:34

I played Euro millions on line once. Any way a few hours later. I got an email saying
In subject box. We have very important news about your ticket. I nearly fainted
I thought OMG. I've won the freeekin Euro millions. I opened up the email shaking and it transpired I had got 2 numbers and won £2.50.

Andrewofgg · 25/01/2016 20:59

Years and years ago I went to the office of the firm of solicitors where I was working on a Saturday tom open that day's post because I expected something urgent. I had the pleasure of ringing one of the partners, a man I loathed, and telling him he had won the football pools . . . £11.84!

Elsie212 · 25/01/2016 21:07

At risk of sounding all Jeremy Kyle-esque, can they do a lie detector test on her?

Genuine q.

ssd · 25/01/2016 21:14

I dont believe her, I think shes at it.

SmallLegsOrSmallEggs · 25/01/2016 21:25

On the OT single parent thing. I am not single. I am in a non-cohabiting lt rs. But I am a single parent because I am neither married to the father of my children, nor do they live with two parents, they live with one single parent, me.

IMO it refers to the fact that you parent alone and/or are not married not your current relationship status.

Burnshersmurfs · 25/01/2016 21:37

I always thought lone parent= no involvement from the ex partner (ie parenting solo); single parent= resident parent but some involvement from ex partner, even if only payment of child support.
Neither title gives me the rage tbh.

WeAllHaveWings · 25/01/2016 22:05

Camelot said in the metro today her ticket was one of a few claims on the prize.

Iliveinalighthousewiththeghost · 25/01/2016 22:08

Not saying. Its the women in question but someone's telling Pork Pies then arent they.

mimishimmi · 25/01/2016 22:29

In Australia we have to be registered to play so if we ever had a winning ticket they would know the name of the person who had bought it. Is that not the case in the UK?

Iliveinalighthousewiththeghost · 25/01/2016 22:32

Oh that's a good idea. Mimi.
No you don't have to register to play here

Gunting · 25/01/2016 23:14

The local news here has said that there have been 'hundreds' of claims to the prize this week

expatinscotland · 25/01/2016 23:29

No intact valid ticket, then you don't get the money. Too fucking bad.

ComposHatComesBack · 25/01/2016 23:57

At risk of sounding all Jeremy Kyle-esque, can they do a lie detector test on her?

Polygraph tests are notoriously unreliable. The test doesn't measure whether someone is lying or telling the truth, but their emotional response to being questioned.

Their accuracy is about 70-80%, which given in a yes/no situation you've got a 50% chance of being right on guesswork alone isn't that impressive or watertight. That is without people actively trying to beat the test.

Katenka · 26/01/2016 06:58

I fine the Facebook post where she said 'I never claimed to have the winning ticket' a bit odd.

She can see the numbers, she knows what draw the ticket was for. So why is back tracking?

And her dd said that she didn't check her ticket straight away as she had her children overnight ok the Friday and forgot. But the draw was Saturday. So why was she distracted by children she had the night before the draw.

If there have been other claims, I wonder why this one made the news?

ComposHatComesBack · 26/01/2016 07:20

It is a bit fishy isn't it Katenka, I think she's at it too.

AuntieStella · 26/01/2016 07:46

I may have misheard, but I thought I just heard them say on BBC Breakfast that Camelot are investigating several hundred claims to have the winning ticket.

redshoeblueshoe · 26/01/2016 07:52

You didn't mishear -all the papers are saying it. I assume the woman is back tracking so she doesn't get done for fraud.

JohnLuther · 26/01/2016 08:09

According to one newspaper at least, she has four identities which is weird.

Potatoface2 · 26/01/2016 08:51

its weird....i did say that she is probably being checked out, and her family, friends etc....background checks, whether there are any criminal records etc....i bet shes pooing herself.....when it comes to this much money they are going to be very very thorough and not just pay out.....and apparently there are hundreds of these claims.....i reckon it wont be claimed to be honest and will go to 'a good cause'....ME lol

Kewcumber · 26/01/2016 09:19

I'm 51 next week and have a 10 year old, I am both a single parent (not living with the father of my child) and a lone parent (no involvement at all of another parent).

Where so I claim my winnings?

(on the fence about whether I want a partner though - maybe when I'm less tired.)

HappydaysArehere · 26/01/2016 10:05

We all love Paul Hollywood's recipe. It is in his Baking book and contains cranberries and walnuts which are lovely with the dark chocolate.

VitaSackvileVest · 26/01/2016 10:07

No one is ever going to go public with a big win ever again after all this.

Why on earth did Camelot warn the newsagent?
