If she can remember where and when she bought the ticket and the man serving her can remember her.

These tickets should be in some kind of readable state after a wash.

Preferred. Blush

WhoTheFuckIsSimon · 24/01/2016 09:13

If it was me I wouldn't be able to remember when Id bought it so Id have no chance of getting the money. I know I bought a ticket for that draw but can't remember which day of the week never mind the time.

fidel1ne · 24/01/2016 09:14

Single implies that the parent is on the lookout for a partner.

No. It really doesn't.

It means that someone is unpartnered.

teeththief · 24/01/2016 09:14

I'd very dubious about it. Like others have said, it's odd the numbers are still there but not the serial number, barcode or date. Plus why wait until the day after they announced where the ticket had been bought before doing anything about it?

TheHouseOnTheLane · 24/01/2016 09:15

fidel regardless it's not the preferred term according to many lone parents.

WhoTheFuckIsSimon · 24/01/2016 09:15

Oh and I didn't sit and watch it on the tv, kept mine in my jeans pocket. Wasn't sure what time or day the draw was or which channel it was on. The lady in the shop checked my ticket for me to see if Id won.

WhoTheFuckIsSimon · 24/01/2016 09:16

Dating would mean they were on the look out for a partner.

If I was ever single again I would not be looking for a partner.

73dexter · 24/01/2016 09:19

A Camelot source warned however: "The bigger the win, the more people we have coming forward in the genuine but misguided belief they have a valid ticket. But no date, no bar code, no serial number and the right numbers? That sounds all a little too convenient to me."

I think I agree with this!

TheHouseOnTheLane · 24/01/2016 09:20

Maybe I am wrong...perhaps a lone parent is a parent who parents alone but might be in a relationship whilst a single parent is just that.

Maybe.

Confused
Pipistrella · 24/01/2016 09:20

Eh? Who says what the preferred term is?

I hate the term 'lone parent'. It reminds me of the lone ranger or even the lone dinosaur, depending on your viewing preferences.

FGS

Single means the same thing.

fidel1ne · 24/01/2016 09:21

fidel regardless it's not the preferred term according to many lone parents.

That's another debate. And a complete irrelevance to to the 'she didn't look like a single mum' comment that was made.

fidel1ne · 24/01/2016 09:22

If I was ever single again I would not be looking for a partner.

I know the feeling Simon Smile

MadameJosephine · 24/01/2016 09:22

I'm a single parent of a 3 yo and I'm nearly 45. I'm certainly not looking for a partner so i'm sure I will still be a single parent at 50. I'm not keen on the term lone ranger parent though

Topsy34 · 24/01/2016 09:24

mollie i only checked our ticket yesterday for that draw, we don't sit and watch it

If it's completely proved its hers, then yes she sould get it, if there is doubt, then of course no. Her marital status doesn't make her more or less deserving

Wolpertinger · 24/01/2016 09:24

No I don't think they should give her the money. It sounds from the Camelot spokesman like this happens every time there is a big unclaimed amount and it is rarely a genuine claim.

It was the biggest rollover in history. And she just washed the ticket in her jeans and forgot about it? Hmm

CantWaitForWarmWeather · 24/01/2016 09:25

If I was ever single again I would not be looking for a partner.

Me neither!

lizzydrippingsghost · 24/01/2016 09:26

if she can tell them the time she brought the ticket and it is the right shop she stands a good chance of getting the money after all she as got the ticket just not the important bit the bar code and date,,,,, but she could be looking at doing some time in prison if shes trying to rip camelot off

Anniegetyourgun · 24/01/2016 09:33

I'm certainly not! I get some grief from a couple of religious nuts guys at work who don't understand why I'm not, though. Annoys the life out of me. The way I like to describe it is that I'm keeping myself free for the millionaire of my dreams.

comingintomyown · 24/01/2016 09:35

Giggling at the posters who wouldn't be looking for a partner if they were single again !

Just adding to the stats of single mothers at nearly 50 and not a fan of term lone either , it sounds so bleak whereas actually it's fine

regenerationfez · 24/01/2016 09:40

If a piece of paper goes through the wash, surely it disintegrates? Apparently only the bit with the day, month and barcode disappeared. The 2016 was there!!?? And she rang the Times so that they could accompany her to the newsagents. Sounds very dodgy to me! If the money isn't claimed, it goes to good causes.

NaughtToThreeSadOnions · 24/01/2016 09:41

Sorry also baffled by why you wouldn't describe some one in their 50's as a single mum.

What do you stop being a mum when your 50 or something?! Isn't the average age for giving birth now around the mid thirties, so she could have a 15 year old, or I know quite a few parents that have had children at 40+ in fact there's a thread with expecting mothers over 40 on here, so at 50 their children would only be 10! Very much a single mother!

As for the single/lone debate I've never heard anyone refer to them selfs as a lone parent in real life. Single does not imply the desire to date, I've been single the last 10 years, very happily so!

I hope she does get the money and with the publicity I'm pretty sure she will if she checks out. As for why should she put in her jeans pocket, I've done it a few times when out with my nephew and nieces because their fussing and I've wanted to leave the shop or get to the seat in the bus I've put the ticket/receipt/change in my pocket of my trousers or coat rather than the sensiable safe place in my bag. Then two days later gone oh that's what I did with that, it's just unfortant that she's only found it after it had been through the washing machine and its worth £33 million.

JuxtapositionRecords · 24/01/2016 09:42

I read you can't see all of the date but can see 2016..so how could she have a ticket with the winning numbers and the correct year but not be genuine? Am I being naive?

CantWaitForWarmWeather · 24/01/2016 09:43

Giggling at the posters who wouldn't be looking for a partner if they were single again !

What's funny about it? Confused

I wouldn't actively be looking for a partner no. What's so amusing and unbelievable about that? If I met someone nice just by chance then that's a bit different, but even then if he's got kids he's a gonner.

It could be for a later draw, bought afterwards when the numbers are known.

You can choose your own numbers or buy a lucky dip, which is randomly chosen by the machine.
