Me and my friend went to pizza express amd i got dough balls, i said she can have one and she dipped it in the butter then bite, then dipped it again.
In general i will find this disgusting but to top it all off she is ill
So i said to her why would you dip your eaten dough ball in the butter when you know you are ill and she said im being rude but how? Isnt this common sense?

Aibu?

lighteningirl · 20/01/2016 19:11

I had never heard of double dipping as a disgusting horrifying tie them to the stake now crime until mn glad my friends and family have a tad more common sense

Quietlifenotonyournelly · 20/01/2016 19:12

I don't like it when people double dip but I would never point it out to them, I'd carry on eating the dough balls dipless Grin

Sparklingbrook · 20/01/2016 19:14

Double dipping is unnecessary though when sharing food.

Bifflepants · 20/01/2016 19:17

It's ok to double dip when it's your own food and you're not planning on sharing isn't it? Or should you not double dip just in case one of your meal companions asks if they can have one?

diddl · 20/01/2016 19:19

I double dip.

Well, if I know I want to I would break the food in half first.

Or dip with the not bitten part.

Depends who I'm with.

Sparklingbrook · 20/01/2016 19:19

Double dipping with your own food is fine IMO.

BeaufortBelle · 20/01/2016 19:23

The uber hygiene brigade never fail to amaze me. I worked with someone once who was all "ugh, disgusting" a really precious little Miss wrinkle nose. "ugh, I couldn't touch a lump of real meat" "ugh, unfamilar food" "ugh, my baby got her hands dirty - she'll be ill". Never worked out where the preciosity came from.

Sparklingbrook · 20/01/2016 19:25

It's not 'uber hygiene' Confused it's just manners.

tibbawyrots · 20/01/2016 19:30

At a family party years ago one uncle ate chicken drumsticks, double dipping each one into the mayonnaise with each bite, then carefully placed the chewed bone back with the rest of the drumsticks. I being 10, was looking around for an adult to stop him but no-one said a word but everyone saw what he was doing.

Vile. Just vile.

Sparklingbrook · 20/01/2016 19:31

You see even at 10 you knew it was wrong tibba. That's horrible.

imnottoofussed · 20/01/2016 19:31

Agree definitely don't double dip, use your knife and fork to cut the dough ball in half before rolling it around in the butter.

why would I want to eat food that has someone else's saliva in it, same way I wouldn't say 'please just lick my food before I eat it' Grin

HoneyDragon · 20/01/2016 19:32

No double dipping unless it's agreed by mutual consent.

HortonWho · 20/01/2016 19:34

don't be like George

lljkk · 20/01/2016 19:36

other things to worry about

Toraleistripe · 20/01/2016 19:38

Yep double dipping. Genius Seinfeld episode.

willconcern · 20/01/2016 19:38

I double dip dough balls. Wouldn't occur to me not to. Eat a dough ball with a knife & fork? Really? To me, that's really odd.

Sparklingbrook · 20/01/2016 19:44

I wouldn't double dip shared dough balls.

remembermewhen · 20/01/2016 19:44

Lol double dipping means something entirely different where I am from & it would be extremely rude to do that in pizza express....

Goingtobeawesome · 20/01/2016 19:45

Still mortified at my double dipping at a mum and baby gathering. I didn't think. It certainly wasn't to be annoying. I did notice no one else had any of the dip though Blush. Never done it since.

InvoluntaryCelibacy · 20/01/2016 19:46

I have never heard of this! Must be a double dipper

bellaSorela · 20/01/2016 19:46

Sparklingbrook · 20/01/2016 19:48

toffeeboffin · 20/01/2016 19:50
