To think Tinder is not just for casual sex?

DS (19) tells me that Tinder is used by the vast majority under 30s (both sexes) only for casual sex rather than finding a relationship.

Please tell him.

That's always the impression I've had of Tinder! I would think that the paid for sites are for people looking for something a bit more long term. In theory, anyway.

Oh, and he wont believe you whatever you say because you are allover 40 so wont know anyway, even though you agree with him

I think that's pretty much true now, although I don't think it started like that. I have friends who are getting married next year who met on tinder and swear that they weren't just on there looking for a shag but do we believe them?

Of course your ds is right op. Absolutely no one over the age of 30 has sex any more so why else would they need to use Tinder

I know people who have used it for shagging, and people who have been looking for LTR and met people and started very happy relationships.

So I'm on the fence. But I think it must be hard to find relationships since so many adjust assume it's a shagfest.

I guess those not looking for just sex would need to make that clear upfront?

Just to clarify, I am aware there are people of all ages using it and for many purposes I was more talking about the average user.

Its good to be proved right, mum only believes mumsnet anyway.

I would say deluded women use it thinking it could lead to a relationship and men use it to find these women and use them for a free shag.

Is it just me or is this beginning to look like more of a thread where the DS is the one more horrified of who has recently opened a tinder account?

Crispbutty that's kind of what I was trying to say to ds.

DS thinks those women know what Tinder's all about but somehow think it wont happen to them.

PS. DS wants to point out he is not in any way condoning this. (This stems from a conversation about thebehaviour of a friend of his.)

Thought so too but was informed at Xmas that two happily married couples I know, met through Tinder. Apparently if you just want a shag you describe one of your likes/interests as "watching Netflix and chilling"
