To think Tinder is not just for casual sex?

DS (19) tells me that Tinder is used by the vast majority under 30s (both sexes) only for casual sex rather than finding a relationship.

Please tell him.

'Netflix and chill' is a recent meme, there will obviously be stories of people who met there OH via it, but the initial purpose of the site was for casual sex, it's the hero version of Grindr.

I have a couple of juniors (male) in my department who use it, one who is a bit of a 'player' and another one who was hoping to get a relationship from it.

The others are all young females who use it for casual hook ups.

Not in my experience.

I'm a little over 30 but have Tindered with people under.

People in their late 20s - some use it for casual sex and others use it for dating.

It's not so difficult to tell the difference and so swipe right only on those who want the kind of thing you want.

If you make a mistake, you can figure it out after one or two messages.

DS thinks those women know what Tinder's all about but somehow think it wont happen to them.

Casual sex isn't something that happens to you, it's something that you actively engage in (if you want to).

I used tinder, met my other half and now very happy and have a beautiful baby boy. Also have 2 friends and both in happy relationships that have been going on well over a year!

my best friend will be getting married in May. She met her husband to be on tinder and they just met for drinks. It all depends on what each person individually wants

I've never used it but a recently divorced friend has - I'd agree with your son based on her experiences alone. I'd never heard of Netflix & chill until she joined Tinder!
