Sausage Salad?

Okay, so this is more of an 'Am I being Weird?'

Had saisages for tea so I've cooked a few extra for lunch tomorrow. I just chopped one up to add to a salad for my lunch. DP came in halfway through and looked at my lunch like it was the food of the devil!

Is it really that weird to put sausages in a salad?!

For clarity my lunch is a pre-packed rainbow salad with sausage pieces and cottage cheese - I can't wait to eat it!

Not weird at all, I love sausages in salads.

awkwardas78 · 10/01/2016 23:19

Sounds gorgeous. I have cold sausage and pasta salads - bloody gorgeous.

dilbert19912 · 10/01/2016 23:19

Yours sounds quite nice but the thread title did make me shudder a bit Grin

Hellochicken · 10/01/2016 23:20

It's not weird. You can have sausages with salad surely, so chopping them and putting them on top . . . YANBW

RealHuman · 10/01/2016 23:20

I'm always having to tell DP to put his sausage salad away.

FighterPilotsThumbs · 10/01/2016 23:22

Sounds very....British.

ManneryTowers · 10/01/2016 23:23

I have never, ever heard of this but it sounds great! Am going to try. Any suggestions for the best salad bangers OP? Do you add dressing too?

BlueMoonRising · 10/01/2016 23:30

Sounds odd to me, but I would certainly try it. Wouldn't expect to see it on a lunch menu anywhere though..

MummySparkle · 10/01/2016 23:33

Oh good! I shall report back to DP in the morning (he's asleep) that he should be more open about his food choices Grin

I've just got some frozen sausages chopped up. Basic run of the mill sausages none of that herby Cumberland weirdness

Just cottage cheese as a dressing for me tomorrow, although I had it with mayo last week. So glad it's not just me! My mum and grandma fed me many weird food combinations that to me seem totally normal (until other people see them and look at me like I'm some sort of alien) so my food weirdness radar is a bit off! Cheese and marmalade sandwiches anyone?! Grin

Mmmmm....made me peckish as I was just about to go to bed. Sure I've got some lovely chicken sausages in the fridge.......

MummySparkle · 10/01/2016 23:50

Oops! Sorry brightlights

When I was pregnant with DS, I craved (and ate) ready salted crisps, with dark chocolate grated on top, all together in a sandwich made with the cheapest, rubbishy white bread I could buy.

So I will never criticise another persons weird food choice!

Allalonenow · 10/01/2016 23:51

Who can resist a cold sausage?
Sausage & mustard sandwich is also good.

SnuffleGruntSnorter · 10/01/2016 23:53

I was with you until you got to the cottage cheese. Nothing wrong with cottage cheese but won't it make the salad all soggy?

RedSoloCup · 11/01/2016 00:00

sounds fine, my salad's include all protein leftovers, salad, cheese, coleslaw, cous cous, rice, pasta and anything else that is leftover and cold :-)

ZenNudist · 11/01/2016 00:01

That well known health food Grin

I love a cold sausage but not those awful ones you buy pre-cooked from supermarkets.

I also slice mini kabanos (sausage) and add it to salads.

Joskar · 11/01/2016 00:11

Cheese and marmalade is ok. That's a thing. Marmalade is pretty much the same as membrillo/quince jelly. It's good.

Hellochicken · 11/01/2016 00:15

I do like a cheese and marmalade sandwich/ on toast.

VimFuego101 · 11/01/2016 00:16

Sounds nice to me. DH makes it with new potatoes, wilted spinach, onions, and a balsamic dressing.

DramaAlpaca · 11/01/2016 00:22

Cheese & marmalade you say? Must try that, sounds interesting.

MerryInthechelseahotel · 11/01/2016 00:27

Reminds me of being in Munich

Kryptonite · 11/01/2016 00:48

Mmmm, not tried or heard of cold sliced sausages in salad but that sounds absolutely damn fine to me and I could just eat that right now!
Tell him he needs to open his mind to different food choices and he might be pleasantly surprised.
In the meantime whilst you're waiting for him to open his mind see sense
enjoy.

BrideOfWankenstein · 11/01/2016 00:59

Google Olivier salad. It's yummy and with sausage.

Krampus · 11/01/2016 07:45

No different from putting something like ham or egg in a salad.

ohtheholidays · 11/01/2016 07:48

My Dad used to make Sausage salad, his was cooked sausages chopped up added to tinned potatoes chopped up,mayo and salad cream, black pepper and mix it together.
