Exactly that. I am probably being over sensitive, in fact I'm sure many of you will tell me I am, but every time I comment on a tread I get shot down in flames. Tbh it is getting to me a bit! I used to love MN, it was a haven when I had a bad day, but I daren't post much any more as I always seem to end up either with the 'wrong' opinion or made to feel like it doesn't matter if I have a difference of opinion because I'm clearly out of order and wrong to boot!
Just typed up a reply on another thread and deleted it as I KNOW what reaction I will get and it is never pleasant. It is like being back in the school room! I know I am probably being U as I get a little sensitive with people opinions (was very badly bullied at school and never really got over the need to please.) but can't help the way I feel. Just a bit sad and down about it actually.

Not all of you, obviously. There are some lovely people on her, and people I have a lot of respect for, even if we don't even agree.

AIBU was never a gentle place, but there do seem to be even more ignorant tossers out there than ever before. I'll avoid the rant about Penis Beaker etc etc...

I'm more likely to post in Chat these days. Still a lot of tossers there too, but at least you can pull them up on it more easily!

There's definitely a herd mentality and opinions expressed I've never encountered in real life.

I think everyone's felt like that at some point. Often the most innocuous threads take a really weird aggressive tone if the first posters show up and set that sort of tone. Try not to take it personally-some people just like stirring up drama.

Chat is friendlier than AIBU.

I often disagree with people. Some posters on MN seem soft, illogical, or plain bonkers. I'm still convinced I'm right!

I wouldn't worry about randomers disagreeing with you, is odd on mumsnet and has been stated before, but the first few replies seem to set the tone of the thread. Often the first few replies will be randomly harsh and then sense will prevail later. I used to post on a thread and then never look at it again in case someone was mean to me . Give a lot less fucks now.

There are a lot of keyboard warriors on here who obviously enjoy being a nasty cunt with no reprisals.

There's RL and then there's MNworld. Both lived in by humans but for some reason if you give a keyboard to someone humans they turn extreme.

Thankfully there's enough humans who are not yet afflicted by this condition (though it appears to be spreading).

Arrgh. I wasn't 'cryptically moaning' about it. I was raising a point that I have felt affected me. Exactly my point! Every single phrase is deconstructed and taken in the wrong way around here.

I think referring to someones thoughts as a 'stompy foot sulk' is actually a bit rude tbh! But thank you for your input, along with everyone else. I will take it on board.

I posted on an AIBU thread the other day as I felt the posters were being nasty for the sake of it and I had to say so. I used to enjoy MN but not anymore and have decided to stick with just one thread on the conception board which I have posted on for the last 2 years and they're a lovely bunch. I feel AIBU in particular has become a platform for bullies and trolls. You can agree or disagree with the OP but just recently I've noticed it has become particularly nasty with many responses being completely unacceptable and vicious with no consideration for the OP feelings.

BTW, I should say - to support you - that I think there are some deeply unpleasant posters who seem to live only in AIBU and delight in being deliberately hostile and argumentative, which is why it's a place I'd suggest you avoid.

The OP does have a point - though I think you need to be thick-skinned to start a thread in AIBU and not take it to heart.
