AIBU to pocket them?

I've been lucky enough to stay somewhere pretty naice for last few days and they have fancy assed brand name full size toiletries. My husband says it's not on to pocket them every day but I think it is. What's the etiquette?

We've checked out. Packed. Waiting for taxi. I'm not intending to give them to receptionist

They might charge you if you take the actual containers if they just re-fill them, just like they would if you took the water glasses. I would just ask them, hey, really love your shower stuff, mind if I take the bottle, chances are they'll say yes even if it isn't hotel policy (same goes for the water glasses).

OnlyLovers · 06/01/2016 14:45

I'd take the mini ones but not full size.

Some places have a 'polite notice' saying you can buy the toiletries, bathrobes etc from the hotel shop ie do not fucking nick them. Grin I think everywhere should do this, for clarity.

Having said that, if I remember that previous thread rightly, they were very heavy-handed and sent a threatening note and a massively inflated bill, which made me think that if it were me I'd have written straight back and asked if they meant to be so rude. Grin

ginmakesitallok · 06/01/2016 14:45

HOW MANY BOTTLES HAVE YOU TAKEN??? Grin

Holidayornot · 06/01/2016 14:45

Not the full size ones!

reni2 · 06/01/2016 14:47

X posted. Guess you'll find out from your credit card bill if they charge you once they found you've taken them.

Whatdoidohelp · 06/01/2016 14:47

You will be billed separately for them as the hotel won't know you've taken them until house keeping have been in. This is why you have to give a credit card swipe. I hope they aren't mega expensive if you took that many Confused

Why would you think it was a perk of staying in a nice hotel to take full-size toiletries EVERY DAY?? Small sizes fine as you are expected to use those so if you don't happen to use them in the hotel then you might as well use them on another occasion. Also they can be handy for overnight trips, swimming etc. The reason hotels now sometimes do full-size is because it is more environmentally friendly and also cheaper for them to replenish the full-size containers.

They're 75 ml. I haven't looked up what full size of this brand they're l'occitane so maybe same as post up thread.

SIX full-size bottles?? So 250ml - please say not 500 ml bottles! What brand are they?

Stillunexpected · 06/01/2016 14:49

75ml is not full size!

Holidayornot · 06/01/2016 14:49

They look full size to me. Conditioner is 50 ml.
After this thread I'm now hoping they aren't full sized!!!

OP posts:
Queenbean · 06/01/2016 14:50

75ml is not full size, it's generous mini

Full size would be 200mls+

KakiFruit · 06/01/2016 14:50

Full size is more like 250ml! You're fine Smile

Holidayornot · 06/01/2016 14:51

They're at least 2-3 times bigger than any toiletry bottles I've ever used in a hotel before.
Maybe they aren't full sized.

ginmakesitallok · 06/01/2016 14:51

75ml aren't full size.

reni2 · 06/01/2016 14:51

No, not full sized at 75ml. Still around £8 each...

Holidayornot · 06/01/2016 14:51

Or maybe I've only gone places with poxy toiletries before!!

Excited101 · 06/01/2016 14:52

75ml is fair game! That is not full size!

APlaceOnTheCouch · 06/01/2016 14:54

Aw, OP I wish you had posted the size earlier and then you could have taken your final haul Grin

MorrisZapp · 06/01/2016 14:54

50ml conditioner, fill your boots

cjt110 · 06/01/2016 14:54

BAH> I pock them all. As in literally put each fresh set away when I get back to my room and come home with a load of lovely smellies.

Stillunexpected · 06/01/2016 14:55

OK, I've had a look at a range of toiletries in our bathroom. You can buy travel sizes of Molton Brown and we have a number of those, they are 30 ml and that is the size you would get in a hotel. Also hunted around in DH's wash bag and he has a few brands from different hotels, all around 30 ml. So while 75 ml is not a full-size bottle (they will be 200 or 250 ml) it is quite a generous hotel size.

Holidayornot · 06/01/2016 14:55

Ok. I feel a bit better now. But I'll know better next time
