No idea why DP is having the snip today

He's been going on about it for years without action yet suddenly decided to actually go through with it and his appointment is today. He says he wants to do it as a gesture to me and so we don't have to worry about pregnancy any more. I've told him I can't see the point because we hardly ever have sex I'm 44 but he's become insistent. I've asked him straight out if he's about to leave me for a younger woman and he swears no he'd say that anyway though wouldn't he. I just can't see why he's doing it. I've tried not to labour the point and I've ended up saying that it's his choice as it's his body. Which it is.

I don't really know what my question is...

Am I being unreasonable to think he's putting himself through something completely unnecessary?

It took 8 days before dh was ready for sex.

But he said that having sex made it feel better and he wished he had tried earlier.

It took my dh longer than that - it was several weeks before he stopped worrying about bruising and scar healing! He hasn't had any issues since, though - all healed fine and very happy with the result!

I don't think it is that drastic, takes a few days. It's not like a pregnancy or labour, or C section! Withdrawal method is very unsatisfying for men and also quite dangerous as leaks can occur so if it were me, I would always be worrying something escaped! I can easily see why he did this and I hope you didn't just thank him duitfully, by which I mean be genuinely thankful in your heart he has done this. It could even save your marriage. I know my marriage is always better if we are having more, better quality sex.

You've got at least 30 years of sex ahead of you. Now you, and he, can enjoy it. Woweeee

My friend uses the pull out method. She's due in May Grin

Glad it all went well, I hope he gets the all clear and you can both relax!

After three children all under 5 my 27 year old ex husband decided to go for the snip.

He must have been gutted when aids came out and had to wear a condom. If he was shagging around then. I have no idea but I suspect so on business trips away.

Anyway that was just a little aside. It was one of his better ideas.

Well done your husband.

I took me two days!
On the day I had it done it felt like I had been kicked, hard, in the balls so I just took paracetamol and ibuprofen.
Two days later I was back riding my motorbike and everything was normal.

captainfarrell · 06/01/2016 15:15

My DH was back to normal in a couple of days. Could barely see a scar or bruising. No real pain as he took paracetamol as precaution for 2 days. It's the best thing ever! Actually meant we had much more sex. I'm 44 and still menstruating regularly so why you thought it didn't matter "at our age" op I really don't know. I'm at my peak!! Grin No go and enjoy that man!!!
