This is the second time in two weeks! Same guy!

I went to go into the hall way to go upstairs and the delivery man literally came up to the door, didn't knock, opened my front door and went to put the parcel on the stairs!! He about pooed himself when he saw me then asked me to sign the thing.

The first time I heard the front door go went to check and he had done it then too!!

😡😡

Kaytee, yes many houses were built before Yale locks were invented. The house I was talking about in that post was a Victorian one. And yet, the front door (original and very beautiful) had a Yale lock.

Likewise, the house I live in now has a Yale lock on the front door, but the house is Georgian. All of the places I have lived in have had Yale locks on their front doors, most of them predate the invention of that type of lock.

Insurance companies no doubt forced the changing of old locks to new, more secure ones. I was just astonished that there are still quite a few people whose houses are simply not secure, whose front doors don't afford them security. I do find that astonishing.

Bitoutofpractice, Blush you got me!

In fact a bet a couple of people who wouldn't otherwise have locked their doors tonight after my "lectures"

I am the Shaw Taylor of mn. And if you're old enough to remember that reference you're older than you look!

BitOutOfPractice · 31/12/2015 00:44

And by the way, the first Yale cylinder lock was patented in 1861 so most houses don't predate that!

Jux · 31/12/2015 00:50

Hmm yes, you're right. Thinking about my relatives, a large number of them live in houses which do predate 1861, but there is only one who doesn't have a Yale on the front door.

I remember Shaw Taylor very well!
