I've left the tree up, but removed thr window lights, ornaments etc. A few friends are calling me a humbug, I love christmas but started to feel a bit boxed in! DH agreed it feels more relaxing now :)

Anybody else done the same?

Mine came down today

I enjoy it greatly for a few days but then need my home to be normal again. That post dec removal hoovering is lovely :) (plus it's my birthday in a couple of days!)

Also the youngest cat was terrified of the tree.. Mog's Christmas style, and she is SO happy that it has gone! She was literally inching around it scared stiff poor thing!

I was agreeing with you Confused
You seem so angry WineCake

WorraLiberty · 27/12/2015 23:30

Well thank god for that. I really thought I was been harsh as I have two boys and wondered if I was spoiling things for them.

How does this thread help you with knowing whether you're spoiling things for them or not? Confused

M48294Y · 27/12/2015 23:32

I was replying to someone else Smile Wine.

MovingOnUpMovingOnOut · 27/12/2015 23:34

November? Pfffft.

🙉

WorraLiberty · 27/12/2015 23:35

12th NIGHT people, please, who puts their decorations up super early???

Thousands of people

Have you been walking/driving around with your eyes shut? Confused

MovingOnUpMovingOnOut · 27/12/2015 23:35

They are wrong though Worra. All wrong.

OfficeGirl1969 · 27/12/2015 23:36

Owing to the antics of Fuckup King the Destruct-o-Kitten and his current enjoyment of a) tearing plaster off the walls and shredding the blinds and curtains and b) having sex with everything which doesn't get out of his way Blush we opted for the "no tree" look this year. I'm ashamed to admit this but I've rather enjoyed not having to clear up fallen decorations/needles, rearranging furniture to fit it in the lounge etc.....

This may be the future.....

TheoriginalLEM · 27/12/2015 23:38

YAallBU there are 12 days of Christmas. Now go and put them back up

Up on the 23rd- down on the 6th-the 12 days of Christmas plus a couple. It is ridiculous to put them up so early you're fed up of them by Boxing Day.

FlatOnTheHill · 27/12/2015 23:43

We are wrong. There are 12 days. Im doing it properly next year. We need to keep up the traditions. I feel bad now.

stargirl1701 · 27/12/2015 23:45

Up on the 23rd and down on Twelfth Night here too. We celebrate St Andrew's Day in Nov and then Advent before Christmas.

SilentlyScreamingAgain · 27/12/2015 23:46

For the first time in a long and expensive history of buying 'no shed' trees, this year's tree actually hasn't shed, not a single, solitary needle is on the floor, I might keep it up until the summer. I might even remove the twinkly lights, claim it's a pot plant and decorate it again next year.

moopymoodle · 27/12/2015 23:47

Well personally I don't care for the 12 days of Christmas! So I'm happy to put them up as early as I like and take them down now :)

DrCoconut · 27/12/2015 23:52

12 days of Christmas here too. I wouldn't dream of taking decorations down before 12th night. But I don't put them up before the kids break up from school and college either, getting the tree is the first part of the festivities for them.

cece · 27/12/2015 23:54

I nearly always take mine down before NYE. I find it too much to keep them up any longer....

NewLife4Me · 27/12/2015 23:55

We take ours down on New Year's Day as Christmas was last year.
It works for us, but we don't put up until 18th.
I'd be well sick of them had we put them up on the ist December though.

IWasHereBeforeTheHack · 28/12/2015 00:00

Tree and decs went up on 20th. I'm just getting used to them! They will stay up until I go back to work (5th Jan).

Philoslothy · 28/12/2015 00:01

I don't want to say YABU because I don't care that much but since you asked the question YABU. I love my decorations they make my house all twinkly and until the 6th Jan it is the festive season

We don't put ours up early but they don't come down until 5th Jan in line with the rules, 12 days of Xmas

SwedishEdith · 28/12/2015 00:12

Feel like Christmas has only just started! I see it as the period that I'm off work. So, yes, yabu but then you put your decorations up on 22nd November!

Qwebec · 28/12/2015 03:22

0h my, I feel really excessive now. I put them up when it gets so early I leave work and it's pitch black. Saves me from the feeling that I am living in a pit. It's not full on, only the fairy lights around mid November and slowly I add the decorations. Everything is tucked away when the light comes back, around mid Febuary. Since I've been doing that I'm not depressed in the winter anymore.
To be fair, my Christmas decorations are all white and natural scandi style, I could not do that if they were red and spakly. I also don't have much, just enough to decorate my birch tree trunks.

chrome100 · 28/12/2015 07:36

We didn't even bother to put a tree or decorations up in the first place. So I guess I'm winning in the bah humbug stakes Grin
