It is now a serious possibility.

www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/politics/jeremy-corbyn-to-dismiss-disloyal-shadow-ministers-in-new-year-reshuffle-a6786956.html

AIBU to be glad at the pitiful state of Labour?

We can have significantly more right-wing policies as a result (assuming Cameron takes the opportunity to be less of a wet), which will result in more prosperity, less poverty and a better country.

ghost Grin

TheXxed · 27/12/2015 21:48

Vintage Jeremy was pretty good looking.

Shutthatdoor · 27/12/2015 21:50

No he really wasn't......

ghostyslovesheep · 27/12/2015 21:51

yeah but to be fair Worra sex between 2 consenting adults is generally accepted as normal - fucking a dead pigs face is not

WorraLiberty · 27/12/2015 21:51

No he wasn't and nor was vintage Diane.

Each to their own though.

WorraLiberty · 27/12/2015 21:52

Yeah fair point ghosty

I would probably rather fuck a dead pig though Grin

TheXxed · 27/12/2015 21:53
Blush
WorraLiberty · 27/12/2015 21:53

I'm sorry I've lowered the tone Blush

I never post on political threads, especially goady ones.

I'll go back to lurking Blush

longfingernails · 27/12/2015 21:55

Oh for heaven's sake, it's not because she's black or because she's a woman.

I disagree vehemently with the politics of e.g. Chi Onwurah, but she is clearly intelligent, and worthy of respect. That is not true of Diane Abbott, who is an egocentric hypocrite.

OP posts:
ghostyslovesheep · 27/12/2015 21:55

I'm worried about my affection for you now Worra - I'm scared you will make me wear a pig mask and frilly pants if we ever meet!

I had (have) a massive crush on Michael Palin - from 1978 onwards - so I have no real barometer for blokes

howtorebuild · 27/12/2015 21:56

The way you are speaking about her. Shock

Jeremy gave people a chance, he now wants a change. I suspect he will continue to work with the likes of Burnham.

TheXxed · 27/12/2015 21:56

I really don't think Jeremy is that bad looking almost cute even, that being said I am lesbian so maybe I am not best placed to judge male attractiveness.

ghostyslovesheep · 27/12/2015 21:57

not sure I would shag vintage Jezza but I did have a minor crush on Derek Hatton in 1983 - in my defence I was 13 and it lasted until I heard him speak

Shutthatdoor · 27/12/2015 22:00

I suspect he will continue to work with the likes of Burnham.

He has to work with all the PLP. He can't pick and choose.

longfingernails · 27/12/2015 22:31

Shutthatdoor On the contrary, he seems to be actively going for deselections of the `disloyal' - both in terms of his front bench, but also in terms of seats.

The Momentum movement seems to think that Stella Creasy and Hilary Benn are Tories in disguise.

Dear OP.

You sound like a lovely person, can I come and spend christmas with you? Slashing life saving foreign aid (0.7% of GDP) and spending it on deficit reduction and tax cuts? Can we go out and stone the poor? Can we?? Can we?? Please???

Obviously you don’t really understand why we do foreign aid. I mean you probably think it’s because we’re in a conspiracy with those ethnic types who are deliberately starving to death so that they can get 1200 calories a day free off the international aid organisations.

I am of the more cynical view in that sending foreign aid to countries is a way of building trade links so we can get cheap coffee, cotton, apples, corn etc off them when that bloody unreliable drought doesn’t turn up so that they can ride high on the not quite enough food they get in refugee camps.

I’ll say it in slightly simpler terms. Foreign aid is mostly a huge bribe. If we give Country A £100 million quid, we save (a few)lives, look good and next year when they are looking for a £50 million quid airport then we get to build it for them. Once we have built their airport then they give us £10 million a year for 20 years to keep it working.

I don’t understand why people don’t get that. Why would a government that is cutting police, social service, the NHS etc (and getting slammed for it) still be giving away a fairly hefty wedge of cash to foreign countries. Two reasons

Trade links and soft power.

ghostyslovesheep · 27/12/2015 22:37

did you have a little crush on Norman Tebbit C1987 Long - I bet you did

QueenLaBeefah · 27/12/2015 22:45

Vintage Jeremy was not good looking!!

QueenLaBeefah · 27/12/2015 22:45

No real opinion on Dianne Abbott though.

claig · 27/12/2015 22:48

'I don’t understand why people don’t get that. Why would a government that is cutting police, social service, the NHS etc (and getting slammed for it) still be giving away a fairly hefty wedge of cash to foreign countries. Two reasons

Yes, most of us understand that. But the problem is that it benefits the metropolitan elite and their mates and not the British taxpayer whose money is dished out by the metropolitan elite.

I like Diane Abbott.I don't agree with all of her views but she has courage and goes against the enforced consensus. I think she would make a good Shadow Foreign Secretary, much better than Establishment Benn, but I don't think Corbyn has the courage to make major changes and get rid of all the Establishment toadies.

travellinglighter · 27/12/2015 22:54

Yes, most of us understand that. But the problem is that it benefits the metropolitan elite and their mates and not the British taxpayer whose money is dished out by the metropolitan elite

So improved trade links and improved UK soft power only benefit the metropolitan elite??? Do tax cuts not give significantly more benefit to the metropolitan elite than they do the average British taxpayer. How can cheaper imports goods and improved exports not benefit the taxpayer?

Diane Abbot is a hypocrite, I have no problem with her colour or her sex but frankly she has been caught out a couple of times explaining that she has a problem with my colour and sex.

longfingernails · 27/12/2015 22:56

Norman Tebbit wasn't really my cup of tea! But continuing the derailment of the thread:

XXed, you make a good point. The amount of vitriol Abbott gets makes me think her race must have something to do with it. Other politicians are disliked but it's Abbott who's the target of the really nasty comments. Look at the way Jess Phillips relished telling her to fuck off. Was it necessary? I'd far rather she told Theresa May to fuck off but that never happens, despite the woman being in charge of some pretty vile policies that are far worse than just sending her son to private school.

In fact, I find similarities in the way people talk about Serena Williams. When people dislike her, they are far more vile than when they dislike other female tennis players, and I do think it's because she's a successful black woman.

Nobody ever admits it of course...

ghostyslovesheep · 27/12/2015 23:05

DC was a crap

claig · 27/12/2015 23:06

'So improved trade links and improved UK soft power only benefit the metropolitan elite?'

Yes, they help the multinational companies who lobby the puppets and on whose boards the puppets get invited. They benefit their mates, the consultants and banks etc but they use the people's money to do what you say is

"Foreign aid is mostly a huge bribe"

they don't use their own money, their own flipped homes profits or the profits of the companies that benefit, and lots of the top banks don;'t even pay any tax after all their clever accountants have sorted things out for them.

'Do tax cuts not give significantly more benefit to the metropolitan elite than they do the average British taxpayer.'

No because most of them pay little of it as they have their money in all sorts of schems, foundations and exempt setups. Ordinary people who are struggling to pay the ever increasing bills and cost of living need that extra tax money in order to keep their heads above water. the flipped home brigade aren't in that position.

'How can cheaper imports goods and improved exports not benefit the taxpayer? '

Because jobs are exported abroad which means less opportunity here and because the exports benefit thelobbying companies and charidees and salaries of the charidee class of failed ex-politicians rather than the people's tax money being spent on the people's services here.

'Diane Abbot is a hypocrite'

So what? What she has done is monor compared to some of the rest of them. Her policies are more attuned to Corbyn's and are different to the policies of the lobbied toadies.
