Every bloody year DP says she will get a Christmas radio times and she always just gets any TV guide but never the radio times.
I always forget that she does this between Christmas and it winds me up every time, the Christmas radio times is special.
Or aibu?

Yabu.
It's a fucking TV guide. Who even buys those anymore?

honeyroar · 20/12/2015 18:57

No, I like The Radio Times too, it seems more traditional. My mum bought it when I was a child and never bought any other tv guides throughout the year. I pretty much do the same now.

CatMilkMan · 20/12/2015 18:59

Exactly, it's tradition!

YANBU but can you not just buy it yourself to solve the issue? Although I picked one up the other day and it was much more expensive than I thought it would be!

Janeymoo50 · 20/12/2015 19:02

You are correct, it's not the same just getting any old tv magazine.

Crikeyblimey · 20/12/2015 19:02

It is the only time of year I buy a TV guide and it is ALWAYS the Radio Times. Cos it says christmas just as much as turkey and mince pies to me.

Maybe buy it yourself in future Wink

YouTheCat · 20/12/2015 19:02

When the Christmas Radio Times comes out is when the festivities start as far as I'm concerned.

Why don't you buy yourself a copy instead of relying on someone else to do it?

KitKatCustard · 20/12/2015 19:02

You're right. The Christmas Radio Times is an institution.

BeanGirls · 20/12/2015 19:04

The only time we ever buy a tv guide is at Christmas when we buy the Radio Times. It's a tradition in our house.

NapoleonsNose · 20/12/2015 19:09

Up until this year, Christmas was the only time we bought the Radio Times, which, in my opinion IS the only TV guide to have at Crimbo. However, this year it's four fucking quid, so we've got whichever one was a pound. Tbh, with on screen programme guides, we've not really picked it up yet either.

balletgirlmum · 20/12/2015 19:12

It HAS to be the Radio Tiimes.

I've read all the articles & reviews & referred to it loads of tunes.

It's Tradition!

Amazemedontbeacunt · 20/12/2015 19:14

YANBU! It's not christmas with what's on TV or whatever it has to be the radio times.

Raxacoricofallapatorius · 20/12/2015 19:14

It's the beginning of Christmas! Highlighter poised, mince pie at my elbow. It's an institution.

balletgirlmum · 20/12/2015 19:15

Remember when you used to have to buy the Radio Times AND the TV Times?

Gazelda · 20/12/2015 19:17

I agree. I love flicking through it, one highlighter for me, different colour for programmes that DD might like.
We only over get it at CHristmas, its traditional.
But I did gasp when I saw the price this year!

firesidechat · 20/12/2015 19:17

I agree with you op.

We usually rely on the newspaper tv guides, but Christmas is the only time we buy a Radio Times. The layout for each day isn't the same as it used to be though and it annoys me a bit. Probably the fault of too many channels.

megletthesecond · 20/12/2015 19:17

Yanbu. Would never buy an alternative magazine.

The radio times is easier than endless googling and checking electronic programme guides. I've got my green pen clipped to my RT so I can circle 'don't miss' programmes.

cariadlet · 20/12/2015 19:17

It has to be the Radio Times - especially at Christmas. I can't imagine buying another guide even if they are cheaper. I'm looking forward to having a go at the traditional jumbo Christmas crossword.

firesidechat · 20/12/2015 19:18

I didn't even check the price Blush. Was it very pricey?

firesidechat · 20/12/2015 19:19

There also aren't as many "can't miss" programmes either.

Bakeoffcake · 20/12/2015 19:21

It's £4!!!

I always buy it but never notice the price. For some reason I did this year and couldn't believe how expensive it is.

I still bought it though as It's marks the beginning if Xmas.

JenniferYellowHat1980 · 20/12/2015 19:24

YANBU. I didn't notice the price Blush but couldn't have not bought it. Unfortunately DH bought a copy the same day (we never buy them through the year) - so your telling me we've spent 8 quid on it this year? Shock

JenniferYellowHat1980 · 20/12/2015 19:24

Ahem. you're

werewolfinladderedtights · 20/12/2015 19:25

Yanbu.
I got a different guide this year and it's making my teeth itch already. It was an irrational cost saving attempt which I deeply regret. I will probably end up getting a radio times as well.
I don't know what on earth I was thinking tbh.

Thumbcat · 20/12/2015 19:26

I was a bit taken aback at the price, as was the woman on the till, but I have to I have to have a Radio Times at Christmas.
