This is all light hearted, because of course I wouldn't repeat this to my friend, but I can't help but bloody feel for her girls! Grin

No word of a lie, the girls are going to be called Chummy and Bonnie! AIBU to say these names are a bit.. Something?

Thanks Yertiz!

WhereYouLeftIt · 18/12/2015 21:37

Looked up Miranda Hart's Chummy Browne - apparently 'Chummy' was short for Camilla Fortescue-Cholmondeley-. So not even a real name, it's a nickname.

Honestly, if my mother had called me Chummy I'd have hated her guts. And changed it as soon as I could. It's a cruel thing to do to a child.

WhereYouLeftIt · 18/12/2015 21:38

Camilla Fortescue- Cholmondeley -Browne

Atthebottomofthegarden · 18/12/2015 21:41

You don't think she's just winding you up and is really planning on calling them, I don't know, Sarah and Elizabeth or something? I would have enjoyed doing that personally, don't know why I never thought of it Xmas Grin

SpecialistSnowflake · 18/12/2015 21:43

Is she a Zoella fan? She and SprinkleofGlitter have been calling each other Chummy for years.

OTiTO · 18/12/2015 21:45

I think your friend is having a laugh.

I'm going to use that name next time I play 'call my kids ridiculous names' in Tescos when I'm shopping with the kids. They are usually good at playing along when I call them Ermentrude or D'Azzle but Chummy might be a step too far.

I'm sure you are being joshed.

Janeymoo50 · 18/12/2015 21:45

Bonnie fine, Chummy - no way. But they are both better than Kandy Rain.

SirNiallDementia · 18/12/2015 21:46

Your friend is winding you up, right?

Chummy is not a name, it's a adjective and one which has no business being a girls' name.

Worst name I've heard in ages TBH.

eurochick · 18/12/2015 21:47

Chummies is a jellied eel stall if you know the Kent coast.

BorderTerrierControl · 18/12/2015 21:48

I wouldn't lumber a sodding dog with the name Chummy, never mind a child.

"that's my new friend, Mam Chummy"

"She looks lovely, what's her name?"

"Chummy"

"I know she's your chum where did you pick up chum from, we don't own any Enid Blyton books what's her name?"

"... Chummy"

"STOP SAYING CHUMMY! IT DOESN'T EVEN MAKE SENSE! JUST TELL ME THE KID'S BLOODY NAME"

Theimpossiblegirl · 18/12/2015 21:48

I'm hoping they are bump names and the real names will be revealed after the birth. Bonnie is nice, I know a few, but Chummy is awful!

IHeartKingThistle · 18/12/2015 21:53

I know twins called Bluebell and Blossom.

Chummy is WAY worse.

quite like Bluebell and Blossom

Jibberjabberjooo · 18/12/2015 22:02

Secretly send her the link to this thread. It needs to be done.

ShadowsCollideIsSurroundedByAd · 18/12/2015 22:06

Mitzy, I am loving your work on this thread. You had me with Connie and poor Bummy. Then I got as far as Chummy Frumble GrinGrinGrin. Am so going to ask DP if he fancies a chummy frumble when he gets home Grin

Prometheus · 18/12/2015 22:10

Bonnie is currently popular among London media types. Chummy? No way.

Fallulah · 18/12/2015 22:11

Is she a YouTube fan? Zoella and one of her friends call each other Chummy. They do have actual names though!

knobblyknee · 18/12/2015 22:18

Bonnie and Chummy. Thats like the cute one and the plump, less attractive one.

But thats nothing. Some of the kids names from round my way include, I shit you not, Sergeant and Major, and Rayon.

StarkyTheDirewolf · 18/12/2015 22:19

Bonnie, yes, I know a few Bonnie's of varying ages, its on my list.
Chummy, that's just cruel.

Obloquy · 18/12/2015 22:26

Bonnie is a recognised name, I wouldn't pick it but it's not so bad that I would object if a close friend or family member told me they were thinking about it.

Chummy on the other hand! I know one in real life but it is a nickname, real name Emma.

As a genuine first name it's just cruel!

SirNiallDementia · 18/12/2015 22:31

Someone has called their kid Rayon????

That's a really nasty synthetic material that makes you sweat. Poor kid.

Trixietwenty16 · 18/12/2015 22:39

Chummy wtf! If the first one is going to have that name then neither are going to want to be born first.....

KateUpton · 18/12/2015 22:43

The sad thing is you're all sadly wrong, they're not nicknames/bump names and I'm sure I've even seen personalised blankets made with the names recently on one of her posts :(

Damselindestress · 18/12/2015 22:55

They definitely sound like dogs, Bonnie is passable but not when paired with Chummy! That poor child is going to be tortured at school.

Hillfarmer · 18/12/2015 22:57

Chummy is short for Chum Bucket - obviously a SpongeBob fan

Canyouforgiveher · 18/12/2015 23:00

if I were the one called Chummy, I'd sue my parents.
