to think Donald Trump probably wouldn't give a shit if the UK DID ban him.

Lets face it,
this idiot is so egotistical, so mega-rich and so up his own arse, that he probably couldn't care less what we think about him.
This is why I think talks of banning him is bordering on being ridiculous.
Banning him wouldn't impact on his life one iota.

Anyway, a normal person would feel ashamed to be banned from a country.
He's not normal.
He would probably see it as a badge of honor. Hmm

Trump said that there are "places in London and other places that are so radicalised that the police are afraid for their own lives" so he is suggesting that there are areas of the capital that are ruled by jihadis where non-sharia law-enforcers are not welcome.

ForalltheSaints · 09/12/2015 19:28

He'd care if his UK businesses were confiscated.

claig · 09/12/2015 19:49

He would care, but if he becomes President of the United States, our political class will end up caring a whole lot more, which is why they won't be silly enough to try and ban him.

too

claig · 09/12/2015 19:57

'Good that we Scots are far to irrelevant to matter then!'

No one is too irrelevant, we are talking about the United States of America. Politicians making stupid decisions for grandstanding purposes are likely to regret it if Trump becomes President.

Trills · 09/12/2015 19:58

It would reflect very poorly on his Presidential ambitions.

I think that if he seriously does want to be President, and isn't just doing it for a laugh, then he would care.

claig · 09/12/2015 20:03

'It would reflect very poorly on his Presidential ambitions.'

I think Trump's support in the US would go through the roof if he was banned by our political class because I think Americans would see it as an insult to their democratic process and their leading Republican candidate.

Eigg · 09/12/2015 20:07

In the unlikely event that he was made President it would make it diplomatically very difficult for the 'special relationship' if the President was banned.

StealthPolarBear · 09/12/2015 20:08

Can I ask some stupid questions about what he said?

How would he suggest enforcing the "no muslims" rule - us religion on your passport? (Can't be bothered to check)

Presumably he understands how unpleasant this would be for American muslims , I assume if they went on holiday they'd be allowed home?

claig · 09/12/2015 20:17

He has said it wouldn't apply to US citizens, and it would be a temporary measure for other Muslims "until our country's representatives can figure out what the hell is going on".

I don't think Trump has thought it through and is just putting out a flyer which would mean more checks etc.

Sharoncatastrophe · 09/12/2015 20:21

I doubt he knows where London is

polentapies · 09/12/2015 20:23

TBH Stealth, I think he just spouts venom and has no thought or care re. the method or the consequences of his bull.

I really do believe that he will not be the Republican candidate, let alone the President. If he is even the Republican candidate, we are all in a great deal of trouble. However I am optimistic and looking forward to seeing him getting a kicking

Tholeonagain · 09/12/2015 20:26

I signed because I think it would be good to send him a strong message that the UK thinks he is a twat. The petition is at over 300,000 now. But there is a survey in today's Independent saying that 25 per cent of UK voters agree with him. His support base in the USA is huge. I find the possibility of him being President of the States very, very scary. And not impossible.

claig · 09/12/2015 20:30

Trump changes his mind all the time which is why no one knows what his position really is or what it will be in a week's time.

This was back in September

"Trump calls for taking in Syrian refugees

The United States should take in some refugees from Syria, Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump said Tuesday night."

www.politico.com/story/2015/09/donald-trump-syrian-refugees-213430

Later he changed his mind and said that if he wins, he will send them all back.

No one knows what he will do which is why there is such panic in Establishment circles about him.

I think he will make it and become President and then the grandstanding political class who tried to ban him or insult him will end up with egg on their faces. And that political class represents all of us, which is why they should not grandstand. Boris Johnson has been a disappointment with what he has said about Trump. The political class is supposed to be diplomatic because they represent the country's interests and not their own.

claig · 09/12/2015 20:35

Individuals signing a petition is fine because that is democracy and in the States lots of people are anti Trump too, bit for our political class to act undiplomatically towards a potential future President of the most important, powerful country on the planet is grandstanding and against the interests of the country. Personal relations count in politics, such as the good relations between Thatcher and Reagan and between Bush and "Yo Blair".

Eigg · 09/12/2015 22:20

claig surely BorisJohnson's Jon is to represent London. Which he did be defending it against slurs which have been reported internationally.

Sharon Trump unfortunately spends lots of time in Scotland. I'm pretty sure he knows where London is.

swallowmehole · 09/12/2015 22:48

billionaire and future President Trump doesn't care what a tiny percentage of inconsequential virtue signalling Brits think of him. Why should he?

You've hit the nail on the head.
You look at him and listen to him speak and you just know He Doesn't Care. Shock

or maybe I'm getting cynical in my old age.

He has said it wouldn't apply to US citizens, and it would be a temporary measure for other Muslims "until our country's representatives can figure out what the hell is going on".

Could be that the press have taken certain parts of what he said and taken it out of context, and made it sound worse than it was? trying to play devil's advocate here Hmm

Which would make the Press the real villains of the piece.

NaughtToThreeSadOnions · 09/12/2015 23:12

I actually think Cameron and Johnson should invite him to come over and show us where these "radicalised areas" are. And who's provideing this information too him.

But no he doesn't care and all he's proved is that he doesn't, he lives in his own world little he say has any reflection on the real world. Even Jed bush is condemning him.

Tholeonagain · 10/12/2015 05:58

But he loves guns & hates minority groups & is very good at encouraging disaffected poor people (of which there will be many because he doesn't like sharing wealth) on said minority groups. And he is in with a chance of being leader of the most powerful country in the world, with full nuclear capability. Is that not super scary??

ProfessorPreciseaBug · 10/12/2015 06:37

Donald Trump says that Muslims should be banned from entering the United States to keep Americans safer.

I would have thought it would have been better for the United States to be banned from entering Muslim countries and that would keep the whole world safer !

Just a thought..

Brioche201 · 10/12/2015 06:53

God help the world if Trump becomes President.Don't make sure the mistake of thinking he is an idiot.it would be better if he were!

londonrach · 10/12/2015 06:54

What did boris say?
