To ask for a middle name for Arabella at the eleventh hour?

ArabellaWhat · 08/12/2015 21:18

Bad form I know, to post this on AIBU. However our baby is almost at the age limit for having her name registered and we've not given any thought to a middle name. My brain isn't working and she will want milk shortly so if any of you can suggest a name so we can get this form filled out I will be grateful Smile

Abigail. It means fathers joy. It may appease your DH.

Bettercallsaul1 · 08/12/2015 23:55

I think Arabella Jane is beautiful - the two names seem to complement each other perfectly. I really like Grace and Rose, but not so much to follow Arabella as the second "r" spoils the harmony and "flow" a bit. Arabella Jane is very musical!

LeaLeander · 08/12/2015 23:58

Abigail sounds great. Arabella Abigail

Or something starting with J in case she wants to style herself AJ someday.

Arabella Jane
Arabella Jennifer
Arabella Joy
Arabella Jean
Jillian
Jewel
Joan
June

She really is adorable.

Gubbins · 09/12/2015 06:21

Megan.

ifigoup · 09/12/2015 06:27

I think one syllable too:

Maeve
Faith
Lyle
Jean
Claire
Leigh
Kate
Rae
Sian (the Welsh form of Jane)

BriocheBriocheBrioche · 09/12/2015 06:49

Anything at all, that's even slightly slightly outside the default, i.e.

Rose
May
Grace
Louise

Which just happen to be the first four posts on this thread.

Even Jane is far and away preferable to any of those fillers.

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeG0es · 09/12/2015 07:16

I'm with those who say think again about Arabella if your DH doesn't like it. My DH was very keen on one particular name and I nearly caved in but we eventually compromised on one that wasn't either of our favourites but that we both quite liked. I was talking about it with DD the other day (she's nearly 10 now) and I'm so glad we avoided DH's choice, it wouldn't have grown on me.

Artandco · 09/12/2015 07:43

Arabella Quinn
Arabella Wyn
Arabella Eve
Arabella Maeve
Arabella Jade

I think one syllable works best

CountryRoadTakeMeHome · 09/12/2015 07:54

Without opening the thread I was going to suggest Jane too! Or spelt Jayne...Think one syllable sounds best although the Louise suggestion good too!

Or Arabella Sue?

ArabellaWhat · 09/12/2015 11:34

DH keen for one syllable so aside from the front runner Jane he might consider Hope for example. He prefers Jane over Jean.

There are several suggestions on here I'd have considered if it was just me - eg Abigail.

I think DH genuinely wants to use Arabella now. He doesn't want to look for other names. I wish I hadn't used the word "hate" because that was an exaggeration!

I'd love to know which name you used in the end Brioche.

Arabella Rockerfella Smile

I think Eve, Joy or Hope

DobbinsVeil · 09/12/2015 11:43

With DS2 I suggested a name that DH had a huge negative over-reaction too - fine it was vetoed. I suggested it again for DS4 and he loved it! I didn't remind about his comments when I suggested it for DS2.

I prefer Joy to Jane but obviously not my choice.
I'll throw in Fern

ChimpyChops · 09/12/2015 11:51

Before I opened the thread I thought Jane. I love Jane and have considered it for a first name if I ever have a daughter.

I also love Arabella Beatrice. Beautiful.

ArabellaWhat · 09/12/2015 12:03

Joy and Hope are quite seasonal too with Christmas approaching aren't they?
I'm not mad about Fern.

Dobbins That happened with us too!

Yes Beatrice is lovely Chimpey (and Beatrix too I think).

I was one of those who thought Arabella Jane, but I've just seen the suggestion of Arabella Joy and I think it's beautiful, and perfect for the time of year.

Dowser · 09/12/2015 12:48

Arabella Saint? North? Kim?jo? Skye? Mae? Kay? Rae?

I'm not a lover of Marie, Louise, grace, Ann

Dowser · 09/12/2015 12:52

She's so dainty I think I'd go for

Arabella Pixie

AliceInUnderpants · 09/12/2015 13:01

Before opening the thread, I instantly thought May or Jane.

tuilamum · 09/12/2015 13:02

I'd go with Arabella Snow but DP would never let me and I don't think your DH would either Grin
I love Arabella Joy

ArabellaWhat · 09/12/2015 13:51

I love hearing everyone's suggestions.

Tuila, you are right about that Grin

I can't think of any names but your dd is absolutely beautiful!
My dds didn't look anywhere near as pretty after birth as yours, she's lovely Smile

Dp picked the name for ds as I had had the most say in the girls names. He chose a name that I didn't really like but we all use a nickname for him now that it's rare to hear his real name.

ArabellaWhat · 09/12/2015 16:59

Awh thanks CakeNinja!

I have caught up on this naming thread behind you all.

When I looked at the picture of your beautiful daughter I thought "Arabella Rose"

Her image is that of a Rose waiting to blossom. Her life will unfold before your eyes as she grows and develops. Every milestone will be a petal unfolding and she will always have a beautiful scent.

P.S. I like Jane as well
