AIBU?

To ask for a middle name for Arabella at the eleventh hour?

Bad form I know, to post this on AIBU. However our baby is almost at the age limit for having her name registered and we've not given any thought to a middle name. My brain isn't working and she will want milk shortly so if any of you can suggest a name so we can get this form filled out I will be grateful Smile

Can you give us some female names in your family (grandmothers/aunties) so that we could see if any of those fit? My dd has two middle names (as my ds does) both of them are her great grandmothers first names ( one deceased one alive).

Arabella Joy is gorgeous as well - either Jane or Joy, I think. Arabella Joy really touches an emotional chord. You have a lovely, lovely little girl, OP!

I wouldn't rule out Rose, Grace, May or Louise either, there's a reason they are popular and that is that they are classic, beautiful names that go well with so many others, fillers is such a dismissive thing to say about them.

I have caught up on this naming thread behind you all.

When I looked at the picture of your beautiful daughter I thought "Arabella Rose"

Her image is that of a Rose waiting to blossom. Her life will unfold before your eyes as she grows and develops. Every milestone will be a petal unfolding and she will always have a beautiful scent.

P.S. I like Jane as well

I can't think of any names but your dd is absolutely beautiful!
My dds didn't look anywhere near as pretty after birth as yours, she's lovely Smile

Dp picked the name for ds as I had had the most say in the girls names. He chose a name that I didn't really like but we all use a nickname for him now that it's rare to hear his real name.

I was one of those who thought Arabella Jane, but I've just seen the suggestion of Arabella Joy and I think it's beautiful, and perfect for the time of year.

Joy and Hope are quite seasonal too with Christmas approaching aren't they?
I'm not mad about Fern.

Dobbins That happened with us too!

Yes Beatrice is lovely Chimpey (and Beatrix too I think).

Before I opened the thread I thought Jane. I love Jane and have considered it for a first name if I ever have a daughter.

I also love Arabella Beatrice. Beautiful.

With DS2 I suggested a name that DH had a huge negative over-reaction too - fine it was vetoed. I suggested it again for DS4 and he loved it! I didn't remind about his comments when I suggested it for DS2.

I prefer Joy to Jane but obviously not my choice.
I'll throw in Fern

Arabella Rockerfella Smile

I think Eve, Joy or Hope

DH keen for one syllable so aside from the front runner Jane he might consider Hope for example. He prefers Jane over Jean.

There are several suggestions on here I'd have considered if it was just me - eg Abigail.

I think DH genuinely wants to use Arabella now. He doesn't want to look for other names. I wish I hadn't used the word "hate" because that was an exaggeration!

I'd love to know which name you used in the end Brioche.

Without opening the thread I was going to suggest Jane too! Or spelt Jayne...Think one syllable sounds best although the Louise suggestion good too!

Or Arabella Sue?

I'm with those who say think again about Arabella if your DH doesn't like it. My DH was very keen on one particular name and I nearly caved in but we eventually compromised on one that wasn't either of our favourites but that we both quite liked. I was talking about it with DD the other day (she's nearly 10 now) and I'm so glad we avoided DH's choice, it wouldn't have grown on me.

Anything at all, that's even slightly slightly outside the default, i.e.

Rose
May
Grace
Louise

Which just happen to be the first four posts on this thread.

Even Jane is far and away preferable to any of those fillers.
