Great little round up of opinions across the international political regarding Donald Trump.

Ha never under estimate how stupid right wing Americans are

Bush any one

Talkin I have visions of Trump being all Harrison Ford in Indiana Jones, looking Corbyn up and down before throwing him a one liner and walking off! I happened to witness Trump take down Eliot Spitzer in three sentences at a party when he was going after Wall Street. It was magical. I could see him doing the same with Corbyn. They could do pay per view, with the proceeds going to Syrian refugees. I would happily pay more to see it than a boxing match!

Romney was a huge mistake and the GOP know it. claig Don't discount Christie regarding his ability to beat HC. He has managed to win two terms as a Republican Governor in a very blue state. He is actually what the GOP need right now. While I don't like the guy he says what he thinks and does what he says. I could be persuaded to vote for him over HC, just because HC is so darn slippery. Also the way he managed Sandy was admirable. He is very good at collaboration and I respect that he put his personal opinion aside to allow same sex marriage in our state. For a Republican he is actually far more liberal than you would think. If they want to win the election Christie is a better bet than Rubio IMO.

If Trump gets the nomination it will be very interesting to see who he selects as his VP. I would expect him to select a female who is hispanic just for the shock and horror of it. Grin

Vanity Fair article. It ain't over yet.

"Here’s Why Donald Trump Really Could Be Elected President

Forget what the party elites and pundits have been saying—Trump has a pretty clear path to not just the Republican nomination, but also the White House.
...
The establishment argument goes something like this: first, Trump will implode, owing to some stupid thing he says or does (so far no sign of this). Then, maybe he could win the nomination but ultimately voters will see what “we” (the elites) all see: he is unfit to be president and they will vote for an alternative.
...
Assuming Hillary Clinton is the Democratic nominee, some inside the Beltway believe there is a possibility that she might win states like Indiana, North Carolina, Missouri, and Montana, which Obama won or only narrowly lost in 2008. But with Trump in the race, all of those states—which are more red than they were in ’08—are likely out for Democrats. Swing states like Colorado and Virginia are clear toss-ups. There are few states that Romney or McCain won where Trump, as the Republican nominee, wouldn’t be in the running, and an analysis of other key states shows that Trump’s in far better position than his detractors would like to admit.
...
Which all means that the election comes down to Florida and Ohio, two states where Trump has significant advantages. In Florida (29 electoral votes), he is a part-time resident and is polling better than the state’s former governor and sitting U.S. senator. He’s also currently neck and neck with Clinton in polls of the state’s likely voters. The state’s important Hispanic population is more skewed toward people of Cuban rather than Mexican ancestry—some of whom may not be as turned off by Trump’s anti-Mexican immigration comments as Hispanics in other states. The Florida voting population includes a high percentage of evangelicals (a group with whom Trump seems to have had baffling success)."

This is the most monumental election ever. The Establishment in the US is very worried and puppets in Europe are watching closely because they know that if Trump wins, their whole game will be over. No more wars, no more climate change, no more political correctness. The stakes could not be higher. Tune in for the American elections, because if Trump wins, the entire world will change overnight.

claig · 08/12/2015 20:51

'If they want to win the election Christie is a better bet than Rubio IMO.'

Yes, you could be right. I do think image matters and Christie does not score highly on that in my opinion, but to me Rubio looks as slippery as they come, he knows the lines, he plays the role, but spin oozes out in my opinion, he has puppet written all over him. Cruz actually has a bit of passion that looks unmanufactured but no one among the political elite seems to like him so there must be something to that that the public is not aware of.

claig · 08/12/2015 20:57

At the end of the day, this election does not look ike a charade, it looks real. There are real people who now want a Republican victory and the game of losing and handing it to Clinton will not satisfy them. Only Trump is a big enough, brash enough figure to thrash Clinton. As Roger Stone says "Trump cannot be bullied, he cannot be bought, he is fearless" and that is what it will take to beat the two-party stitchup and hand the government back to the people. Trump is the outsider, he is not a career politician, he is anti-establishment and that is why they all, bar none, fear him in the Beltway.

It looks like this is a serious election with a serious outcome and that is why puppets across the world are chewing their nails.

Christinax · 08/12/2015 21:00

i will be interested to see how it will work, i mean how can you tell who is muslim and who isnt? will people have to sign a contract when entering the US to say they arent muslim?

claig · 08/12/2015 21:00

If you listen to the interviews of former Trump aide and former Republican operative, Roger Stone, where he says that "Trump is for real" you get the impression that this election is for real and the Establishment panic is for real and that we ain't seen nothing yet because Trump intends to go all the way and defeat the Establishment.

annandale · 08/12/2015 21:02

Can't be bought?? He's been bought and sold so many times over he's got a barcode on his arse. That's presumably code for 'he's considerably richer than yow'. I should think he is probably afraid of being outflanked on the right, which is why he keeps coming out with this neo fascist shit.

Want2bSupermum · 08/12/2015 21:03

Actually I correct myself.... If Trump wins the nomination I would expect him to select a Cuban female as his VP to secure the hispanic and female vote. Ileana Ros-Lehtinen would be the perfect VP for him. Susana Martinez (Governor of New Mexico) would also be the perfect VP for Trump. A Mexican whose father served in the military and she is the guardian of her disabled sister.

claig · 08/12/2015 21:12

'Can't be bought?'

He doesn't need anyone else's money. No lobbyist can buy him or tell him what to say.

'I should think he is probably afraid of being outflanked on the right'

They can't. They are puppets ad politically correct. They would not dare say anything controversial. All they can do is lobby for war for the military-industrial complex. Trump goes against them all and says it looks like Turkey is with Isis and says he thinks it is great that Russia is smashing the Jihadis in Syria and says he thinks he will get along well with Putin. Not a single one of the puppets would dare say the half of that because they are all bought and paid for.

'I would expect him to select a Cuban female as his VP'

Jesse Ventura keeps hoping that Trump would make him VP, but Ventura is not a registered Republican. Can you imagine a Trump, Ventura ticket? Puppets across the world would be in a perpetual state of panic.

The right wing is on the rise all over the western world. Did you notice that France's far right National Front won one in three votes in the regional elections? Or that Poland elected a right wing government last month?

The recent huge influx of mainly Muslim migrants into Europe combined with terrorist attacks carried out by Muslims are directly responsible for the rise in far right support. Perhaps many people in the U.S. look at what is happening in Europe and think they will be next, or perhaps they already don't like the large numbers of Muslims whose values they see as incompatible with their own living in the U.S.

claig · 08/12/2015 21:18

'The recent huge influx of mainly Muslim migrants into Europe combined with terrorist attacks carried out by Muslims are directly responsible for the rise in far right support.'

I think that is only recent. The right has been gaining ground for a long time, the Front National won the Euro elections and UKIP won the Euro elections in the UK. What we are witnessing is the slow death of political correctness and now it has spread to America and Donald Trump is more politically incorrect than any European politician because he is richer than any of them and cannot be scared off speaking his mind.

Yes indeed, how ironic, as a direct result of Labours policies on immigration. Thanks Tony!

Anthony the rise was far before the refugee crisis, it may be compounding it but in no way is a direct result. Its a result of the EU and free movement of people.

Russia is smashing the Jihadis in Syria and says he thinks he will get along well with Putin
Confused

Is he? I thought Putin was indiscriminately smashing civilians and people who oppose the Assad regime, thereby, helping ISIS advance on many fronts.

claig · 08/12/2015 21:25

' I thought Putin was indiscriminately smashing civilians and people who oppose the Assad regime, thereby, helping ISIS advance on many fronts.'

That is the mainstream media story, but listen to what Trump has to say about it. Remember he is the outsider, he is not mainstream which is why the Republican Establishment don't want him to be the candidate.

Why do you think the Russian passenger jet was blown up if not for the fact that Russia was smashing the Jihadis and their oil smuggling rackets?

AuntieStella · 08/12/2015 21:28

BBC now has this article www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-london-35037007

trump saying police are afraid for their lives in radicalised London.

The Mer commissioner has responded more politely than I could manage and has offered briefings to any/all presidential candidates who which to know more about policing in London.

Boris ended his response: "Crime has been falling steadily both in London and in New York - the only reason I wouldn't go to some parts of New York is the real risk of meeting Donald Trump,"

AnthonyBlanche · 08/12/2015 21:31

Whilst I agree that the far right has been on a slow rise for a while, I don't think the French NF would have done nearly so well in the elections last week if the recent terrorist attacks in Paris hadn't happened.

I do think a lot of people are genuinely in fear - of losing their lives (to terrorist attacks) and their way of life due to having to support huge numbers of immigrants who (to add to those fears) follow a religion which is incompatible at a fundamental level with Western European society whose morals and norms are deeply rooted in Christian religion.

claig · 08/12/2015 21:33

'I don't think the French NF would have done nearly so well in the elections last week if the recent terrorist attacks in Paris hadn't happened. '

Yes, I think you are right. The fear is leading to people looking for strong leaders and a change in leadership and failed policies.

And I know we shouldn't judge on appearances, BUT how on earth could anybody take the wearer of that combover seriously?

PigletJohn · 08/12/2015 22:24

Trump is saying what his constituents like to hear, even if he has to make it up. He has no shortage of supporters and just keeps ratcheting up the hatred. I won't be surprised if he accuses those who disagree with him of being "terrorist sympathisers."

I read an interesting article by a British Jewish journalist recently, who observed that the target of choice for modern fascist, is Muslims. I have noticed the same.

Harriet Harman's husband is suggesting that Theresa May should ban Donald Trump from the UK. There is no chance that will happen. Can you imagine banning a possible future American President?

"Theresa May should ban Donald Trump from Britain for "stirring up racial hatred", a shadow Home Office minister has declared.

Labour's Jack Dromey said the "dangerous fool" should not come "within 1,000 miles of our shores" after claiming all Muslims should be banned from the US until authorities "figure out what is going on". "

www.mirror.co.uk/news/uk-news/dangerous-donald-trump-should-banned-6975344

claig · 08/12/2015 23:50

Dromey has only called Trump a "dangerous fool". Has he lost leave of his senses? This man may be the next President of the United States of America. Who the heck is Dromey?

SenecaFalls · 08/12/2015 23:55

Before Monday, he might have had a slim chance of becoming president. After his pronouncement about banning Muslims, he has lost all chance of winning the general election.
