And now he has told me I'm going to be evicted!

FFS - my life is a sitcom.

You ran over him?

Snozberry · 07/12/2015 12:31

Eh what? Did he just walk in?

ThisFenceIsComfy · 07/12/2015 12:31

What???

EvaBING · 07/12/2015 12:31

And to not drip feed - basically I heard two male voices on the stairs outside the bedroom (I rent just a room), so I go out to find two 'elder' men walking down the stairs. So I bollocked them lol.

Turns out it is the landlord and his son who now want to evict me.

Jesus Christ - Kim Kardashian has nothing on the drama in my life.

Why did you bollock them? If other people live in the house wouldn't the first assumption be that they were visiting someone else?

EvaBING · 07/12/2015 12:33

Our lease allows the landlord to access any part of the house without notice. I've just moved in, last week, so didn't know who the fuck it was.

OP posts:
stairbears · 07/12/2015 12:35

Ahhh... Can you offer sincere apologies and plead your case for staying on the basis of being a great security guard?

Enjolrass · 07/12/2015 12:37

Why wasn't your first question

'Who are you?'

Especially if you know he can come in when he needs to?

Pancakeflipper · 07/12/2015 12:37

How big was the bollocking for them to consider evicting you.

Good tennants aren't easy to find....

High drama.

EvaBING · 07/12/2015 12:37

I asked them to leave. Then I was asked who I was. As I am paying a significant amount of money to rent a room here, I was not forthcoming. Once it was established (by our other flatmate) who everyone was, old man told me that I would be evicted. nyaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa

OP posts:
WhoTheFuckIsSimon · 07/12/2015 12:38

Well if you have a contract they can't evict you until your lease has run out.

Also I didn't think it matter what the contract says - a landlord can't just come in. You're legally entitled to quiet enjoyment or some such phrase. Not sure if its different for a Multi occupancy house????

stairbears · 07/12/2015 12:39

Maybe they'll see the funny side later?

Enjolrass · 07/12/2015 12:39

I just don't get why you would ask someone to leave?

What if they were visiting someone?

EvaBING · 07/12/2015 12:39

Indeed my first question WAS 'Who are you'

But apparently they are not obliged to speak to the underlings.

OP posts:
Enjolrass · 07/12/2015 12:40

Did you just ask them to leave?

Because that doesn't seem like running them out or bollocking them.

7Coffees · 07/12/2015 12:40

Ffs it's obvious what op meant. Have you got a tendency agreement op?

Fugghetaboutit · 07/12/2015 12:42

Why didn't the convo go:

'Who are you?'

'Im the landlord'

'Oh, nice to meet you, I'm your new tenant'

Confused
BanningTheWordNaice · 07/12/2015 12:42

This makes no sense whatsoever.

stairbears · 07/12/2015 12:45

Not necessarily 7coffees - obvs not everyone knows of the phrase 'ran him out'

AliceInUnderpants · 07/12/2015 12:50

Why didn't you assume they were with one of your flat mates? "Who are you?" sounds so rude.

CheesyWeez · 07/12/2015 12:51

Yes I'd say you were being unreasonable. - is there a lock on your bedroom door or is it a house share type arrangement?

Fairiesarereal · 07/12/2015 12:51

But why did you 'run him out' if you didn't know who they were? Who did you think they were?

Dipankrispaneven · 07/12/2015 12:51

If rooms in the house are let on an individual basis, there is no reason why the landlord shouldn't have been on the stairs.

What I don't get is why your first reaction was to "run him out", i.e. why did you assume he was an intruder when he could perfectly legitimately have been one of the other tenants' visitors.
