I'm going out. Spouse is cooking two salmon fillets for himself. I think it's a bit greedy and he should either have just one - or save the packet for a night when we're both in.

I feel you! We considered eating the cat, because then we know this meat source has had a good life, but decided to stick to Lidl instead. If anyone tried to take half DH's steak, it wouldn't go well.

MrsKoala · 04/12/2015 20:53

I hope that cat's corn fed expat?

MajesticWhine · 04/12/2015 22:01

Does the government issue guidelines on what pets should eat? I do hope my spaniel is compliant. (She scavenges from the roadside - that should help the environment no?)

Salmon pasta dish for one person

Dh thinks we should have salmon tonight.

I have said only if I can have at least 3 fillets and started laughing.

He didn't get itBiscuitSad

That salmon pasta looks like vomit.

Crazypetlady · 05/12/2015 11:20

I don't think it looks like vomit. How rude.

DeoGratias · 05/12/2015 11:21

Is it money then? I eat loads of fish. Every time I have salmon which is once a week I have both bits in the pack. When I have the fresh tuna I eat both bits. I think we need a lot more good fats and proteins and much less carb.

I certainly would never go near pasta but each to their own.

limitedperiodonly · 05/12/2015 11:33

Clearly, we have different opinions on what vomit looks like crazypetlady.

IHaveBrilloHair · 05/12/2015 11:44

Oh, I don't mind, it was originally made as filling for canneloni where you can't see it, that was the leftovers that I'd frozen, then added thickened tinned toms.
It tasted great anyway.

limitedperiodonly · 05/12/2015 11:59

Sorry Brillo. I didn't realise it was your own work. It does look a bit icky though.

I'll show you a photo of my next bubble and squeak - eta Boxing Day - if you lke, but you wouldn't thank me.

IHaveBrilloHair · 05/12/2015 12:04

I'm making chicken korma today which resembles baby nappy contentsGrin

expatinscotland · 05/12/2015 12:07

I have tasted this chicken korma, and it tastes spectacular. It's restaurant quality, better than most I've had in restaurants, actually.

limitedperiodonly · 05/12/2015 12:27

I don't doubt the excellence of your chicken korma brillo - the flavour if not the appearance.

I'd put spinach in it to contrast with the baby-shit yellow colour and consistency of the base ingredients. Do you agree?

With your salmon pasta dish, is the green slime wilted spinach or rocket?

IHaveBrilloHair · 05/12/2015 13:08

It's spinach, ricotta and the salmon, plus tomatoes.
The original canneloni had the pasta stuffed with ricotta, spinach and salmon, then topped with tomato sauce, then bechamel, sprinkled with cheese and baked until brown and bubbly.
No spinach going in the korma, but I'm going to make a Dahl with some instead.

chelle792 · 05/12/2015 15:35

I'm flabbergasted! My DH eats near to 5000 cals a day bloody expensive. He works a practical job, is 6ft 7, skinny and never stops. Tries to eat largely unprocessed foods apart from bacon and breaks the bank every week! I'd be happy if he ate 2 pieces of salmon although it's mostly chicken he eats bulked up with nuts and rice

helenahandbag · 05/12/2015 17:13

I've never come across anyone apart from a box of Scott's oats that actually spells it 'porage'. Even my phone tries to autocorrect that spelling.

EllieJayJay · 05/12/2015 18:32

Still trying to work out why you would share an 8oz steak - think my DP would marry me just to divorce me :)

Am laughing at the comment about hobbits... And now feel like a pig as I ordered way too much Chinese food but haven't eaten for two days.

firesidechat · 05/12/2015 19:02

Guess what we are having for dinner tonight. Steak!!!! And we are not sharing.

DeoGratias · 05/12/2015 19:38

And I had steak for lunch, loads of it mmmmm

Marynary · 05/12/2015 20:57

I think two salmon fillets is quite a lot and it wouldn't occur to me or DH to have two. Perhaps that's partly because salmon is quite expensive and DH is not a big eater compared with many men.

UmbongoUnchained · 05/12/2015 21:02

I came home drunk the other week and ate 36 fish fingers. OP would've slapped me.

limitedperiodonly · 05/12/2015 21:12

I've just eaten half a poussin with salt and pepper, 2oz rice and some MN-tastic kale stir-fried with mushrooms, garlic and ginger.

It was proper lovely and I'm going to ignore the fact that I'm still a bit peckish.

DurhamDurham · 05/12/2015 21:37

Unbongo you'd be my daughter's hero if she knew you'd eaten 36 fish fingers...........she'd think you were amazing but be ever so slightly jealous that she's never got to the dizzy heights of 36!! Grin

DeoGratias · 05/12/2015 22:13

I think it depends what else you eat. My meal would be the two salmon fillets, oilve oil, spinach, peppers for example. that would be it. I suspect that is as filling as one piece of fish coupled with rice and I am lucky enough to earn enough that I can have the double fish rather than the fish with rice say although I am equally happy with a tin of sardines which is pretty cheap.
