I'm 5 weeks pregnant and had a gp appintment for next Wednesday all lined up. Was happy as it coincided with annual leave I'd for travel for a friend's wedding.

I booked it last Friday and was really excited!
They've just rung up to tell me it shouldn't have been booked in the first place the midwife isn't in AND the only time she sees new appointments is 12.20 pm & 12.40pm on Tuesdays and 2pm &2.20 pm Wednesdays.

Aibu to think they should try to fit me in later on the Tuesday - it's not my fault they cancelled :( not ready to tell work (plus my manager is on annual leave for two weeks so can't tell her even if I wanted too) so would have to take annual leave for any appointments made!

All an early scan would tell you is that the baby happens to be alive on that day( if it is alive.)I have had bleeding, gone for a scan, they found a heart beat and then a couple of days later I have passed what was obviously an embryo.
It's horrible, you just have to sit tight and wait.

Whatthefreakinwhatnow · 25/11/2015 13:46

Sadly OP , bigbuttons is right in my opinion. In my most recent pregnancy I therefore turned down the offer of an early scan figuring it would only give me very temporary reassurance, before going back to the stressing until the 12 week scan.
It's a very personal choice but I wI'll be doing the same again when we (hopefully) have DC3.

Congratulations on your pregnancy Smile I have everything crossed for you that it goes well Flowers

AnyFucker · 25/11/2015 15:39

CookieKatie · 25/11/2015 16:23

Hi!

I promised an update:

I've now met with my midwife twice and she is lovely. I have her mobile number if I need to contact her urgently (so far no need). I am now 11 weeks and so far so good - apart from some horrendous morning sickness weeks 9 and 10!! Seem to be coming out of it now and we have our scan next week so hopefully we can confirm all is well with my little womb resident Smile

Hope everyone is doing well!!

Just read your thread and very happy for you that all is progressing well!

landrover · 04/01/2016 21:29

Thats lovely news xx

MrsJorahMormont · 04/01/2016 21:57

I feel for you OP :o I was bonkers when I was pregnant and would cheerfully have had a scan every week if they'd let me. Unfortunately things will just be as they will be so try not to stress Thanks Just stay calm and let your little peanut grow :o

MrsJorahMormont · 04/01/2016 21:58

Ooops didn't realise this was an older thread - that'll teach me to not read the last page Blush But the above post stands - and congrats!

HelsBels3000 · 04/01/2016 21:58

Thats great news - for what its worth, I suffered an early miscarriage and was dealt with at the local hospital EPAC. With my subsequent pregnancy I was offered an early scan at around 8 weeks and saw heartbeat which was amazingly reassuring. All went well and my DD is now 7!

Viviennemary · 04/01/2016 22:02

Take a deep breath. But there is absolutely nothing to be done this early on. The appointment would have been a bit of a waste of time. IMHO. That's why they've cancelled without thinking anything of it. It's quite usual for midwives only to see patient and very specific times.

EllenJanethickerknickers · 04/01/2016 22:09

Lovely update, Katie. All the best for your scan. Flowers

Potatoface2 · 04/01/2016 22:12

reminds me of the time i was in the car park of the maternity hospital i worked at, just going on duty and a youth on a moped zoomed up to me handed me(tried to) a jam jar of urine and asked me to test it to see if his girlfriend was pregnant....i was gobsmacked (unusual for me)....declined as it was a sunday and 'no the lab wouldnt take a jam jar' lol (in the early 80s pre tests from chemists) did laugh later though

HairForNow · 04/01/2016 22:35

That's a lovely uodate, good luck

Best wishes for your ongoing pregnancy, round here you were lucky to get your booking-in appt before 12 weeks, ditto the dating scan - we had quite a kerfuffle when they clocked my age and gestation and realised I had to make a decision re screening on the spot as we had run out if time!
I do remember how shocked I was when I rocked up at the midwife clinic with my freshly peed two blue lines just to be sent away Shock

Mws can be more flexible than others have suggested, I was working nights and the standard early afternoon clinic was really difficult for me, so they used to see me at 8am on my way home from work (their suggestion) as long as I didn't mind who was available.

TattyDevine · 04/01/2016 22:55

Glad you are well. Sickness is good at this stage!

Lol Viviennemary. So keen to post what everyone already said you didn't realise it was a zombie? Wink

starry0ne · 04/01/2016 22:57
