When she said she found Rees-Mogg attractive? And embarassingly, I can see her pov. I could listen to him talk for a very long time, even though I don't agree with him

Possibly an ill judged quip given recent events.

I apologise Blush

Tapirs · 21/11/2015 12:45

I want to be generous about his comment re Jeremy Corbyn but I couldn't help thinking he was stating a point of view that he wished other people would apply to him when he spouts some of his own vile claptrap.

JumpandScore · 21/11/2015 12:47

I think that's the point we know there's nothing at all to admire about him and yet...

He manages to come across as very decent, when we know he's nothing of the sort.

"I like his hair. He has a somewhat cartoon like appearance."

Hmm, perhaps you recall him from a series of popular books and jigsaw puzzles?

mademan you have it! He is Wally! Grin

batshitlady · 21/11/2015 15:10

Can you imagine JRM's school photo's? I bet he looks really different now eh?

PatriciaHolm · 21/11/2015 15:14

I was at university with JRM. He looked exactly the same then as he does now.

SurlyCue · 21/11/2015 15:16

Nope, no different at all! Grin

This is my favourite JRM photo. Grin

He's not Wally, he's Walter.

He is easy on the ear though. I'll give the Tory tosspot that! Unlike VCM.

SurlyCue · 21/11/2015 15:45

I knew it badtime! Walter/wally is JRM. He really got around didnt he? Grin

scarlets · 21/11/2015 16:27

I think her comment was in response to his spelling pedantry. That might appeal to her lol. I love Victoria!

I dislike extreme Catholicism but I understand why JRM is liked on a personal level. Politically, if he were more moderate and less nutty, he'd be a future leadership candidate maybe?

HesterShaw · 21/11/2015 16:34

Easy on the ear????? With that unctuous, gloopy voice? He sounds like an oil slick. Just like that other awful berk Brian Sewell.

IndridCold · 21/11/2015 18:30

Mhairi Black, the SNP MP said JRM was one of her favourite MPs. Although she disagreed with everything he said, he was very kind and polite, and lovely to listen to!

Helmetbymidnight · 21/11/2015 19:29

Oh he's awful, he's always been awful- I can't understand you lot!

He was so po-faced and unfunny last night! I liked what he said about jc but the rest was dullsville.

batshitlady · 22/11/2015 16:51

Sewell's awful and has the same jowly face as my mum . Not a feature I like in a man.

JRM does have a nice posh accent! Sewell's is vile and slimy.

FrancesOldhamKelsey · 22/11/2015 17:00

Brian Sewell died recently - and wouldn't have cared what features you liked in a man anyway Grin.

caroldecker · 22/11/2015 17:08

My favourite story is one by Stephen Fry.

When canvassing he was infuriated when leafleting the streets of central Fife because he (JRM) was assisted by his nanny. His reply was: "Well, I do wish you wouldn't keep going on about my nanny. If I had a valet, you'd think it was perfectly normal!

batshitlady · 22/11/2015 17:19

Oh I didn't know. RIP Brian.

He wasn't terribly likeable though was he? Though to be fair to him, he didn't really care about that either I don't think.

MadeMan · 22/11/2015 18:01

Brian Sewell liked proper art and not all this modern, "lightbulb-going-on-and-off-in-a-room" business; he hated Banksy and Hirst too apparently.
