To damn the date and go home?

I'm cold, he was suppose to be here at 7. He text after I already set off to ask if we could put it back to 7:15. I got it when I parked up at 6:50. I told him I was here but sure 7:15 is fine. Now he's just rang telling me he's at a similar sounding place 15 mins away. There's no hope is there? I might as well give up now! Then again babysitter is there now.

Oooh got any shortbread hiddlesnake?

fastdaytears · 18/11/2015 21:06

My first thought was go home and save your dates for people who respect your time and turn up on time BUT reading these lovely stories about first dates going wrong and relationships going right makes me realise I'n a judgemental arse.

Update us please!

I once started heading home when a date was late. He caught up with me and went crackers. So glad he was late or I might not have seen that side of him till later. I'm no great catch, but I'm a nice person and worth being on time for.

With DH it all kept going wrong with family stuff and we had to cancel the first few dates. But we did it in plenty of time and there were good reasons so we stuck around for each other.

Heathcliff27 · 18/11/2015 21:13

Placemarking for update

ObsidianBlackbirdMcNight · 18/11/2015 21:15

Is it a first date?

Hiddlesnake · 18/11/2015 21:18

Chocolate chip or plain, Dungandbother?

banff82 · 18/11/2015 21:22

DP was late for our first date, he got stuck in traffic. He did phone to let me know and I really wasn't bothered, these things happen. He was very apologetic when he arrived. I'm glad I was magnanimous given that despite his time-optimism he is really pretty wonderful and we are now engaged Grin

LittleFeileFooFoo · 18/11/2015 21:22

Mmm, biscuits! Thanks hiddlesnake. I brought some Wine

DuchessDaisy · 18/11/2015 21:35

Marking.

I went on a date last year and he texted to say was half an hour late, really apologetic etc so waited. He came in, looking really ill and rushed to the toilet, after talking for 15 mins with drink rushed to loo again. Had to drive him home after 45 mins - claimed food poisoning. Was actually a nice bloke but no spark at all so didn't need to see again!

Or maybe it was just me! Blush

LikeASoulWithoutAMind · 18/11/2015 21:37

Dungandbother · 18/11/2015 21:49

HS I'm plumping choccy chip. Ta muchly

Bunbaker · 18/11/2015 21:51

It looks like he must have turned up.

Finola1step · 18/11/2015 21:52

Ooh Walter, you are naughty!

AcrossthePond55 · 18/11/2015 21:52

Running 15 min late is not a good sign, but I'd probably let it slide on a first date just to see if the man is worth it. Any later than that is a no go for me.

But it sounds as if wires got crossed and he went to the wrong place with a similar sounding name thinking that's where you were? That could be an honest mistake and I'd let that slide, too. Just this once.

I am hoping the date is going really well for you OP :)

DragonsCanHop · 18/11/2015 21:58

Good MN etiquette would be a little update from the toilet on a first date Grin

Epilepsyhelp · 18/11/2015 22:03

Is this the guy who stayed over the other night? He should be a bit less useless by now?!

Waltermittythesequel · 18/11/2015 22:05

The troops have arrived! Grin

To the posters on this thread, might I direct you to Advanced Search?

UmbongoUnchained · 18/11/2015 22:11

Don't forget to lock your door OP!

Iliveinalighthousewiththeghost · 18/11/2015 22:14

Waves. To all from the other place.
I wish I'd never had opened this thread as I wont sleep tonight now, worrying about Atsea and her date and of course worrying about whether she gets a shag or not. Grin
