To think 9pm is too late to deliver parcels

Just after I had ds in bed the door bell went. Several times, then the door was hammered. I was scared of answering it tbh. Fucking Amazon delivery. It's really not on is it? The guy was rude and snapped when I spelt out my name. ( it's a difficult one, and he ended up spelling it wrong anyway) I told him it was late, he said it had to be delivered today, I told him he should have done so earlier.

To make it worse, it's not even my parcel, it's addressed to SiL Angry

I'm usually just happy that my shit has arrived in one piece. Even that is too much to ask from some couriers.

He would have probably got a bit of an earful of id have summoned up the courage to open the door that late and the parcel wasn't even for me.

I thought it was in the T&Cs that they could deliver up to that time.

It's annoying that he rang your bell so many times but it's Amazon you should be complaining to for the late deliveries. They expect too much of the drivers. I spoke to one of them recently and he has over 150 parcels to deliver one day!

I've just had an Amazon delivery too, he delivered one parcel and then went off of the neighbors with theirs. Then found my other parcel and came back with it 20 mins later.

Sorry I'd rather get a next day delivery at 9 than not on the day it's due. But do think your SIL is BU. Expecting you to take in her parcels did she tell you it was coming?

I think it's great! I love it when parcels come when I'm actually in.
Usually I'm at work when parcels arrive, so have to do the Saturday morning queue at the sorting office to collect. Which inevitably takes forever.

For many of us it's more convenient than them attempting delivery during working hours.

The couriers have way too many parcels to deliver. I'm sure he wasn't enjoying still being at work at 9pm.

For us it's perfect, we Aren't often home in the day so usually miss parcels.

We have our food delivered between 10-11pm most weeks

I'm sure it's annoying if you have young children but for many people - me included - an evening delivery would be much better as I'm out at work during the day. Hammering in the door not so good, though.

These days they seem to tell you "your parcel is out for delivery today" so you know that if doorbell goes it is likely to be delivery. Some couriers even send you an ETA with one hour time slot. I would then be ok with it - indeed like a PP more likely to be in then then in daytime. But if not expecting it and DH not home then I wouldn't like it either.

Have to admit I hate the way you have to hot-foot it to the door before delivery people really start to hammer but 9pm would be OK with me. Wonder what the cut-off point is tho. Regarding your name he may have had more deliveries to do and was getting stressed time-wise. Still a bit annoying.

It should be the same guidelines as door to door knocking which is certainly not after 9. If you don't mind that then you should be able to specify. I'd be livid as my newborn would be fast asleep

I had a parcel from Amazon this evening. It said when I ordered that they deliver up to 9. Suits me, I'd have been at work otherwise.

Trouble is delivery people are under tremendous stress as they try to complete their job in tight time restrictions like a lot of other jobs these days. I once sympathised with someone who was rude to me which led to greater understanding and a better feeling for us both. Will not necessarily be the same if i did it again but no harm to try. MN is good place to offload.

It says when you order it that they deliver up til around 9pm. If you want it earlier you'd need to pay extra for before 1pm delivery

I think it's a bit late but presumably you were expecting the parcel so it's not like some random knocking at the door.

Yodel delivered a parcel to me at 7:30 tonight, I wouldn't have minded if it was 9:30 as it saves me having to trek to their depot when they try to deliver when I'm in work.

9pm sounds perfect. I get my food shop delivered after 9pm as well. Yanbu about the rudeness though.

I wouldn't have a problem with the time of delivery.

Couriers are under a lot of pressure to get their deliveries done on the day so I have quite a bit of sympathy for them, but of course he shouldn't have been rude.

Better than 9am when I'm at work! Would much prefer evening deliveries.
