AIBU to put washing up liquid in my dishwasher?

Damn, I thought I had another packet of tabs but it turns out it's salt. Dishwasher is full. Can I put washing up liquid in the socket thing or will my dishwasher over-froth and end up looking like a foam disco?

Admittedly, I've had to put half the mugs back in as all the tea tannin hasn't washed off. But the plates look good.

you must have put in juuuuust enough w.u liquid! Yes that's what I found with tea cups, I guess the liquid's not abrasive enough, or else there is loads of bleach in dw tabs

I have used washing powder (for clothes) and it works fine.
