Complementing guys on Instagram on their physique is not cheating

Twizzelgrl · 10/11/2015 08:35

Bf started using insta on my tablet last night and noticed I pay complements to a few guys with good bodies on there. He got a bit pissed off and went quiet and said it was a form of cheating. I don't keep my tablet locked or my insta private as I've nothing to hide. Most of the guys I follow are fit and intelligent with interesting philosophical views. He's overreacting right?

Ah, I see someone else has brought up the hun racism.

Can confirm that it was actually said, in all seriousness

TheLambShankRedemption · 10/11/2015 12:13

"Interesting philosophical views"

Jesus wept.

Grin Grin Grin

OP YABU.

Saukko · 10/11/2015 12:17

I want to know where philosophical guys take their shirts off on Instagram. What an interesting combination of topics :D

Shodan · 10/11/2015 12:45

I believe her.

But then I also believed that men bought copies of Playboy for all the intellectual articles and definitely NOT the nude photographs.

MaidOfStars · 10/11/2015 12:58

Interesting philosophical views = shitty inspirational memes?

AyeAmarok · 10/11/2015 13:02

Of course this is rude to your DP.

You sound incredibly vain.

MorrisZapp · 10/11/2015 13:06

Brock O'Hurn! Man with Bun!

Actually if it was a currant bun I'd be more inclined.

TondelayaDellaVentamiglia · 10/11/2015 13:34

am a bit bored after lunch, you know how it is, I'd go for a nap but dh is up there sleeping

I searched instagram for #interestingphilosophicalviews .....nothing, nada, zilch

I think that says it all really.

Bambambini · 10/11/2015 13:39

The only time I see Instagram is when I'm checking my 13 yr olds account. Lots of posing and pouting going on and followers oohing and aahing and telling them they are "hot" and "fit". Do adults actually do this too then, mind boggling stuff!

My nieces love insta. They are 17 and 19. They're Mexican American, though. No 'huns' in sight. How racist.

Fratelli · 10/11/2015 14:03

It's tacky and creepy, not to mention disrespectful to your boyfriend! You also sound to immature to be in a relationship.

Damselindestress · 11/11/2015 05:51

It's not cheating but it's not respectful to your boyfriend. TBH I wouldn't be thrilled if I found out DH was commenting on random women's pictures online complimenting them on their appearance. And then the question comes to mind, what if they reciprocate, what if a conversation starts and things get a bit flirtatious, what if they send you more pictures... He'll be wondering where you draw the line. Complimenting men on their bodies isn't in itself cheating but he probably wonders where it will lead. Why do this when it bothers him? Aren't his feelings more important than boosting the ego of some random guy online?

chrome100 · 11/11/2015 05:59

Well I'm 34 and have Instagram, as do all my friends. I enjoy seeing photos of their lives. I also follow some interesting photographers and extreme sports people. This is how Instagram is used in my world. Not hunting down random men to peeve at. I can see why your boyfriend is upset.

Busyworkingmum71 · 11/11/2015 06:13

No, he's not over rescting. I'd be fucking furious if dh did it.

Senpai · 11/11/2015 06:13

Well, he better not be looking at porn if that's how he truly feels.

cranberryx · 11/11/2015 08:22

I use insta mainly for pictures of my dogs, but if I posted a selfie or a candid shot out on a family day out and I had some random man or woman commenting about how hot/fit I looked I would frankly be a but creeped out.

Would you go up to a stranger and tell them they are hot?

I think some profiles expect it, like models or fitness gurus (their body is their job IYSWIM) but general everyday men? Why would I objectify them like that?

PiperChapstick · 11/11/2015 08:45

It's not cheating but it's not a very nice thing to do to your OH at all

AtrociousCircumstance · 11/11/2015 08:53

Go look at the British museum hun

Hehehe Grin
