Going off another post....what is the best advice that you have received from parents (or anyone else really) advice that you live by and that you will pass on to your children/ friends etc.

Mine are;

  1. Feel the fear and do it anyway.
  2. Aim to have a wage that matches your age.
And
  1. Always apologise for your part to play in arguments etc. Be the bigger person.

Can't say I always apologise but I do try.....hehe

timelytess love that, might try it Wink

PreciousxBane · 27/10/2015 09:44

Never reveal your financial status to anyone
Never have a joint account with a man
Wipe front to back

Motherinferior78 · 27/10/2015 20:34

Never judge someone til you've walked a mile in his shoes. After that say what you like - he's a mile away and he has no shoes. Grin

Hornydilemma · 27/10/2015 20:44

Never wrestle a pig. You'll both end up covered in mud, and the pig kinda likes it.
(A much more colourful version of "choose your fights wisely")

If you never go in over your head, how do you know how tall you are?

This will out me, but I have a small plaque in my bedroom that is one of the first things I look at every day. It says "work hard and be kind". I'm not terribly good at doing either but I try to get better.

I always make a point of wearing shoes I could walk home in.

Wow AgeingArtemis how many mumsnetters have you had in your bedroom?

'Let it Be'. (thought I'm going to upgrade to 'not my circus, not my monkeys' - love it.)

itsmeohlord · 27/10/2015 22:00

This too will come to pass - my grandmother
The only way out is through - my other grandmother

FullOfChoc · 27/10/2015 22:09

On a scale of 1 - 10, how important is this really? to calm panics over relatively small things.

From mum - if you haven't got anything nice to say, don't say it
From grandma - will you still be worrying about this in ten years? If not, don't worry about it now, it isn't worth it
From a teacher - find out what you enjoy doing and build your life around doing it every day
From reading Amazon reviews - really don't eat too many sugar free gummy bears

EnthusiasmDisturbed · 27/10/2015 23:58

From my nanny

Hate only destroys one person and that is you (I hated my stepfather I had every reason to but that hate hurt me I felt much happier when I moved on from hating him)

Never lower yourself to their level in other words don't get caught up in someone else's crap they want to project on you

standclear · 28/10/2015 00:02

One I repeat to dd all the time:

"beauty fades; dumb lasts forever"

Mindysgotswag · 28/10/2015 00:04

Don't get disheartened if you ever hear anyone badmouth you. It says more about them as a person, a million times over.

Darvany · 28/10/2015 00:11

This one.

Darvany · 28/10/2015 00:13
